While we don’t know the release date for the Hollow Knight follow-up Hollow Knight: Silksong yet, we do know it will be playable starting in September 2025. Team Cherry’s title will be a part of the ACMI Game Worlds museum exhibit that starts on September 18, 2025, then ends on February 8, 2026. Tickets to attend will go on sale in July 2025, but the waitlist is available now. [Thanks, IGN!]

It is currently unknown how extensive the Hollow Knight: Silksong demo will be at the ACMI exhibit. IGN’s reveal and the ACMI statement didn’t note if this will be a demo Team Cherry specifically constructed for the museum that will offer a slice of gameplay, or if this could be the full game on display. 

The last update on the game came during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct at the beginning of April 2025. Nintendo confirmed it would appear on both the Switch and Switch 2 in 2025 during the presentation. At the time, only a brief clip of gameplay appeared. 

Here’s the trailer for the Game Worlds exhibition. While it confirms Neopets, The Sims, and World of Warcraft will be present, Hollow Knight: Silksong didn’t appear in it.

ACMI often celebrates games and gaming. For example, one of its major events at the end of 2024 was an Women & Non-Binary Gamer Club End of Year Meetup. That offered attendees an opportunity to play Drawful 2 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. There’s also a free Big Ant Studios Games Lab that is available every day. In June 2025, Assassin’s Creed Rogue and As Dusk Falls game composer Forest Swords will appear for a “Crafting the Score” presentation.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will come to the Switch, Switch 2, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and Windows PC in 2025, and it will be featured at the ACMI in Melbourne, Australia, between September 18, 2025 and February 8, 2026.

After multiple delays, at the The Game Awards 2024, Hollow Knight: Silksong returned with a release date at the April 2025 Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. We’ll get to go through Hornet’s adventure on 2025.

As a reminder, Hollow Knight: Silksong was originally intended to be an add-on for the base game, but the scope of it led to the expansion becoming its own title. Team Cherry announced that back in February 2019. After that, bits and pieces about the game came up. For example, we got to see the map system at once point and one of the NPCs. In 2022, we learned when it would release, it’d be on Xbox Game at launch.

However, after the 2023 delay, we started to hear less about the title. While a Nendoroid of both the Knight and Hornet released, and we also saw new Steam art and an Xbox product listing, there weren’t concrete details about the new Hollow Knight game until now. 

The Hollow Knight: Silksong release date will fall in 2025, and it will appear on the PS4, PS5, Switch, Siwtch 2, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC. You can find the original Hollow Knight on the PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC worldwide now.

People have still been keeping an eye out for any Hollow Knight: Silksong news, and there have been a few recent developments regarding Steam and GeForce Now. A on the GeForce Now subreddit spotted that Team Cherry had opted into the service for the sequel. This is not concrete evidence of the game being released anytime soon, as those who have been keeping track might that it was confirmed as coming day one to Xbox Game in 2022. Few updates on Hollow Knight: Silksong appeared ever since the sequel was first announced in 2019. While there have been small amounts of information given about Team Cherry’s Metroidvania over the years, such as a Nintendo Direct appearance, but no new, full trailer or concrete release window has been shared. The last we heard about the game was that development was going well, but that it was much larger than initially planned and would be delayed from its early-2023 release date. We were also told we’d find out more closer to launch.

However, this isn’t the only update for the long-awaited game. Team Cherry recently updated the copyright on the game on Steam from 2019 to 2025. It was mentioned in a March 18, 2025 ID@Xbox blog post which read, “Looking ahead, our lineup is incredible with games like Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Descenders Next, and FBC: Firebreak to play across the whole Xbox universe… and of course Hollow Knight: Silksong too!”

Hollow Knight: Silksong is in development and should appear on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

The Xbox page for Hollow Knight: Silksong is now live on the Microsoft Store. However, it does not yet feature a release window. [Thanks, Wario64!]

The page features plenty of screenshots showing off how the game will look, a description of it, and a link to the official Hollow Knight: Silksong website. According to Microsoft, Nintendo, and Sony's storefronts, it’ll be an action-adventure game in which you play as Hornet, who is the princess-protector of Hallownest. Hornet will be able to use new powers and fight against new enemies compared to the Knight from the first game.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2017 Hollow Knight. In Hollow Knight, players take control of the Knight, who is an insect warrior in Hallownest. In it, you can explore the underground world, encounter other insect characters, and fight against bosses. It was very popular for its art style, combat, and difficulty level, and as of February 2019, it sold over 2.8 million copies.

However, there have been many issues and delays plaguing the release of Hollow Knight: Silksong. Team Cherry first announced the game in 2019 and it was supposed to come out in mid-2023. In a statement from Team Cherry in May 2023, the game is still in development. There is no news as to when we can expect the game, even with the two store pages for it now live.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will come out on the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, and Xbox Series X some time in the future.

There’s new activity involving the Hollow Knight: Silksong Steam page, which adjusted the art showing Hornet. SteamDB noted updates on September 21, 2023, then later September 23, 2023. This involved a web assets change that added the updated piece of art. [Thanks, Wario64!]

There have been a number of updates to the Steam product listing for the title in 2023. Many of them involved changing the tags for the game. On January 13, 2023, however, SteamDB noted the TBA release date change on the page. 

Here’s the image that was changed, according to SteamDB. It matches the header Team Cherry is using on social media. This does not necessarily mean an announcement is drawing near, as this could instead be normal pre-release activity surrounding an in-development game.

Back in May 2023, Team Cherry announced the follow-up was pushed out of the first half of 2023. However, in Japan there will be a release tied to the game this year. The Knight and Hornet Nendoroids will debut in November 2023. Those will show up in North America in Q1 2024.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will come to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC via Steam. It is currently in development.

Nendoroids of The Knight and Hornet from Hollow Knight are now available to pre-order. Previously shown off at Good Smile Company's WonHobbyG 2023, both characters will cost $43.99 or ¥6,400 each. They will ship in either November 2023 for Japanese store orders or Q1 2024 for orders from the US store.

The Knight Nendoroid comes with 2 cloaks, its signature Nail weapon, a stand and several optional parts for different poses. The Knight's Knightling companion is also included and comes with its own base. The Hornet also comes with 2 cloaks as well as her Needle weapon, a cogfly companion, and several parts to facilitate additional poses. Pre-orders from either of the Good Smile Company online shops will include a bonus, which is a special round base with the game's name or a set of hands and signs.

Originally launching in 2017, Hollow Knight is an action platformer set in a ruined insect kingdom. A sequel, Silksong, was announced back in 2019 and planned for an early 2023 release, but developers Team Cherry Games have since announced a delay.

The Hollow Knight The Knight and The Hornet Nendoroids are available to pre-order now, with orders from the Japanese store shipping in November 2023 and US store orders shipping in Q1 2024. Hollow Knight is immediately available on Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Hollow Knight: Silksong does not currently have a release date.

During its WonHobbyG 2023 Spring announcements, Good Smile Company revealed its Hollow Knight Nendoroids of The Knight and Hornet. There are no release dates for either figure. However, they did appear as painted prototypes.

Here’s the official reveal. It didn’t show any additional face plates for The Knight or Hornet. However, each character is wielding a weapon in this initial announcement. It also seems like their capes will be designed to be dynamic and show movement. The Knight’s is frayed a bit, while Hornet’s is more put together. Both of them are billowing in the example photos.

The next Hollow Knight game is still in development. Earlier in 2023, we learned that Hollow Knight: Silksong will be delayed until later in 2023. That is the Metroidvania that will follow Hornet on her own adventure. As people may recall, the original game focused on The Knight, though Hornet also featured rather prominently in the story and also played a part.

Good Smile Company’s Hollow Knight The Knight and Hornet Nendoroids are in development. There’s no release date yet. The original game is on the Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Hollow Knight: Silksong will come to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

There's an update on Hollow Knight: Silksong, and it has to do with another delay. Team Cherry's Matthew "Leth" Griffin, who handles the marketing and PR for the game, issued a statement on Twitter. Instead of arriving in early 2023 as planned, it is now pushed out of the first half.

Here is Griffin's first statement. He cited the team's desire to focus on the title's quality as an explanation for the extended development.

Hey gang, just a quick update about Silksong.

We had planned to release in the 1st half of 2023, but development is still continuing. We're excited by how the game is shaping up, and it's gotten quite big, so we want to take the time to make the game as good as we can.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is a follow-up to the original game starring Hornet. In the original game, players would occasionally clash with her. As she wields a needle with a thread attached to it, her attacks are quite different than the Knight's.

Microsoft's Xbox and Bethesda Showcase brought new word of Hollow Knight: Silksong, the sequel to hit side-scrolling action game Hollow Knight. The trailer shown during the event was the first and most substantial look at the game since its reveal in 2019. Since then, information has been sparse, to the point that developer Team Cherry skipped last year's showcase entirely.

With the showcase focused on titles that will be released by June 2023, would-be players of Hollow Knight: Silksong can expect the game within that window. It'll also be a day-one Xbox Game release, meaning subscribers will see it in their PC and Xbox console libraries when it's ready to play.

Originally intended as DLC content for the original Hollow Knight, Silksong grew into its own game. Players will control Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, and a lethal hunter. Hornet uses a needle-like weapon and silken threads in combat. She'll also have a new set of moves and the ability to craft an array of weapons and gadgets to further exploration and unlock combat options. Over 150 new enemies and new zones were also promised.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will arrive on Xbox consoles, PC, and Xbox Game by mid-2023. Nintendo Switch was also listed as a target platform in the initial announcement.

Those hoping for Hollow Knight: Silksong news shouldn’t expect Team Cherry to reveal anything at E3 2021. The developers are active on its Discord and made an announcement.  Matthew “Leth” Griffin, who handles the developer’s PR and marketing, confirmed no news will be at the event. I just wanted to pop in to let you know that Team Cherry does not have any announcements/blogs scheduled for E3 this year.

Originally, Hollow Knight: Silksong was intended to appear as paid DLC for the original game. However, the scope was increased. In February 2019, it was confirmed to be its own game and a sequel. Aside from an E3 2019 appearance as part of Nintendo Treehouse Live, there haven’t been too many updates.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is in development for the Nintendo Switch and PC, and Team Cherry does not have any announcements planned for E3 2021.

Details about Hollow Knight Silksong, the follow-up to Hollow Knight that began its life as a Hornet expansion for the game before spinning off into its own Metroidvania entity, have been slim. However, details have been coming from Team Cherry and the latest was revealed after fans solved a riddle on Discord.
