The third and final art book for the 20th anniversary of the .hack series is now available for pre-order from the CC2STORE International online store, as well as an A4 size acrylic plate. Both items are available for pre-order until April 29, 2024.

The art book costs 4,180 yen (or approximately $27.55), while the acrylic plate costs 4,950 yen (~$32.62.) Units for the acrylic plate are limited, and both items are expected to be released on May 28, 2024. For people living outside of Japan, the WorldShopping proxy service offers international shipping on the CyberConnect2 online store.

The art book features content from the .hack//G.U. series, the .hack//Link PSP game, and the .hack//New World mobile game, among others. In addition, marketing illustrations and materials for all titles in the .hack series are also included, as well as the main visual for the .hack//20th Anniversary Exhibit, which was held in Japan on Summer 2022. As for the acrylic plate, it features the same illustration as the cover of the .hack art book, which was drawn by artist Seiichiro Hosokawa.

A new art book and music album celebrating CyberConnect2's .hack series' 20th Anniversary is now on sale. The book is titled Game Art Works .hack//20th Vol. 1, and the album is called LieN - .hack//20th Best (Vol. 1 to Vol. 3). Additionally, a special "anniversary fair" promotion is being held through February 8, 2023. The promo provides discounts on 5 .hack-related ebooks. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

The .hack 20th Anniversary art book series will come in three volumes, although only the first is available now. It will contain a collection of art from the main series, which consists of the four volumes of .hack: .hack//Infection, .hack//Mutation, .hack//Outbreak, and .hack//Quarantine. The art will include package and promotional illustrations from Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, who worked on the series and provided character designs. The books will also publish many pieces being collected for the first time, including work from Guilty Dragon and New World, two related mobile titles that ended service in 2016.

The .hack 20th anniversary art book is available from CyberConnect2's online store, which can arrange for international shipping. The book itself costs 3,850 Yen (about $30 USD), but also comes in a Deluxe edition that includes a tote bag, art standee, button, and banner hanging for 11,000 Yen (about $85 USD).

The soundtracks collect songs from LieN, the official music group of CyberConnect2. LieN composed and performed many of the songs from the series and subseries. The collection is a "best of" set, gathering songs performed by LieN from across the franchise, including theme songs from .hack//GU Last Recode. The total track list contains 37 pieces across the three volumes. Each volume of the 3-volume collection costs 2,750 Yen (about $22 USD) on CyberConnect2's online store.

An art exhibit celebrating the 20th anniversary of the .hack series has opened in Japan. The .hack//20th Anniversary Exhibit is available on the 7th floor of Yurakucho Marui mall in Tokyo, Japan, until August 28, 2022.

The exhibit displays artworks featuring characters from the .hack game and anime series. People can enter the venue by paying an entry fee of 1,100 yen, and they will receive a small illustration paper. However, the exhibit will not be available on August 17, 2022, because the building as a whole will close on that day.

The venue also has a store selling merchandise related to the franchise. For every 2,000 yen spent in the store, customers will receive an additional greeting card for free.

The art exhibit is one of the celebrations Bandai Namco made to mark the .hack series' 20th anniversary. The company previously worked with Famitsu to release physical editions of the .hack 20th Anniversary Book in July 2022.

The .hack series comprises anime, games, and novels that depict a fictional MMORPG titled The World and the people related to the game, such as players and staff . The releases of the .hack//Sign anime and the PS2 game .hack//Infection in 2002 marked the series' debut. To date, the latest game released is .hack//G.U. Last Recode. The remastered compilation of the PS2 .hack//G.U. titles—with an additional brand-new story chapter—is available on PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

Famitsu announced physical editions of the .hack 20th anniversary book will release on July 19, 2022. The .hack 20th anniversary book will cost 3,250 yen (or roughly $24), which is close to the price that was previously announced. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

The anniversary book will feature developer interviews, the results of a reader survey, and a special manga. There will also be concept art not limited to the release of the games. Things from the anime will appear too. Pre-orders for the book are still available through the Japanese retailer Ebten.

Famitsu is publishing a fan book celebrating the 20th anniversary of the .hack series. The book will release on June 20, 2022, and will include exclusive content such as developer interviews, development documents, and more. The first game in the .hack series, .hack//INFECTION, released for the PlayStation 2 in Japan on June 20, 2002. The game later released in the US on February 10, 2003, and Europe on March 24, 2004. Initially a four-part game series, the .hack franchise has since spawned a number of spin-offs, remasters, manga, and anime.

The anniversary book cover illustration will prominently feature the main protagonist of the .hack series, Kite. Famitsu notes that the fan book will include a 20-year retrospective on the series, as well as developer interviews and other behind-the-scenes content. Additionally, Famitsu is running a survey asking fans about their favorite .hack characters, games, and media. The survey will be open until April 30, 2022.

Two online retailers will sell the book. First, the Amazon Japan listing shows the .hack 20th anniversary book with a price of ¥3,520 (about $28). Japanese retailer Ebten will also sell a special version of the fan book, which will include an A2-size tapestry of the cover illustration. This version will cost ¥5,940 (about $47).

Pre-orders are currently available for the .hack 20th anniversary book. The book will release on June 20, 2022, the series' 20th anniversary.

CyberConnect2 released new .hack//Collection items for Summer 2021. The new collection consists of acrylic stands and t-shirts with characters from the .hack franchise wearing new pirate-themed costumes.

The stands feature chibi illustrations of ten characters from the franchise: Tsukasa and Sora from .hack//SIGN, Kite and Mistral from the Infection-Quarantine tetralogy, Haseo, Kuhn, and Pi from .hack//G.U., and Tokio, Klarinette, and Flügel from .hack//Link. People can get the stands by purchasing two separate sets — each priced at 3,850 yen (~$35) — or buying a single random item at 770 yen (~$7).

Meanwhile, the t-shirts feature non-chibi monochromic illustrations of the series protagonists Tsukasa, Kite, Haseo, and Tokio in their new pirate costumes. The shirts are available at 4,400 yen (~$40) in L and M sizes.

The items are immediately available for purchase on CC2 Store International. Early purchases made at the shop will come with exclusive bonus cards. The Japanese online store also accepts orders outside Japan with the WorldShopping service. CyberConnect2 will also sell the items on Amazon Japan from August 26, 2021.

CyberConnect2 has previously released items with .hack characters wearing Easter-themed costumes in Spring 2021. The company described that the .hack//Collection series would feature themes from all four seasons. It plans to release Fall and Winter-related items as well in the near future.

Earlier this year, .hack makers CyberConnect2 held a special event, where CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama shed some light on a possible .hack development in the future. It looks like that future might be coming sooner than expected, as he has revealed that the company is already working on plans for a new .hack title.

During a recent event to commemorate the first year anniversary of CyberConnect2’s Guilty Dragon, an iPhone/Android game that is in some way connected to the .hack universe, Matsuyama stated that the service for Guilty Dragon is going smoothly, and that if players continue ing the game, it will increase the chances of releasing a new .hack title for PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita, a Vita version of .hack//G.U., or an HD remake of .hack and more.

“CyberConnect2 have already begun the planning for the latest installment of the .hack series, and it’s only a matter of time until we can make it a reality,” said Matsuyama at a recent art event, adding that CC2 are currently preparing for that time to come, and he hopes to continue seeing fans Guilty Dragon and the developer.

Siliconera previously spoke to Matsuyama, and he confirmed that Guilty Dragon will be coming to North America and Europe “later on,” so when that happens, you might also be able to help make a new .hack a reality.

Square Enix filed a new trademark too for Cupcake Kingdom. This trademark was ed by Square Enix Europe so it's probably developed by the Western division.

Last weekend, I spoke with CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama. We talked about Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations as well as other projects like .hack. Matsuyama gave fans a call to arms asking them to bug Namco Bandai Games America on Facebook for future titles because right now .hack is just for Japan.

Matsuyama also said he would like to make a sequel for Solatorobo, but sales in North America haven't been strong. Since we're fans of CyberConnect2's works we thought we'd let Namco Bandai Games America know there are other .hack and Solatorobo fans out there. Matsuyama said to request .hack on Facebook, so that's what we'll do!
