.hack 20th anniversary exhibit

An art exhibit celebrating the 20th anniversary of the .hack series has opened in Japan. The .hack//20th Anniversary Exhibit is available on the 7th floor of Yurakucho Marui mall in Tokyo, Japan, until August 28, 2022.

The exhibit displays artworks featuring characters from the .hack game and anime series. People can enter the venue by paying an entry fee of 1,100 yen, and they will receive a small illustration paper. However, the exhibit will not be available on August 17, 2022, because the building as a whole will close on that day.

The venue also has a store selling merchandise related to the franchise. For every 2,000 yen spent in the store, customers will receive an additional greeting card for free.

The art exhibit is one of the celebrations Bandai Namco made to mark the .hack series' 20th anniversary. The company previously worked with Famitsu to release physical editions of the .hack 20th Anniversary Book in July 2022.

The .hack series comprises anime, games, and novels that depict a fictional MMORPG titled The World and the people related to the game, such as players and staff . The releases of the .hack//Sign anime and the PS2 game .hack//Infection in 2002 marked the series' debut. To date, the latest game released is .hack//G.U. Last Recode. The remastered compilation of the PS2 .hack//G.U. titles—with an additional brand-new story chapter—is available on PlayStation 4, PC, and Nintendo Switch.

hiroshi-matsuyama-naruto-sage You might recognize CyberConnect 2 president Hiroshi Matsuyama, who goes by “Piroshi” among fans and coworkers, as that guy who dresses up as Naruto at major events. But he’s not only a great Naruto cosplayer—he’s also the .hack series director and one with a heart of gold.   Matsuyama delivered the beloved .hack series to fans across the world since its earlier days on PlayStation 2, but there was one special delivery to a fan that stood out among others, and its story will be told in a little book called “The Medicine Called Entertainment – A Delivery from a Game Creator to a Boy who is Losing his Vision.”   It all started with a single phone call that took place just before the release of .hack//G.U. Vol. 3//Redemption. The call was from a boy with an eye disease who was scheduled for an ophthalmectomy, a surgical removal of his eyes. The boy got in touch with Matsuyama in hopes of being able to play the sequel to .hack//G.U. Vol. 2//Reminisce before losing his sight.   With the surgery scheduled for nine days before the release of Vol. 3//Redemption, there wasn’t enough time, so Matsuyama took an exception and grabbed the ROM for the game to personally deliver it to the boy who was counting his last remaining days of having vision.   Matsuyama’s book will cover more from the event that took place 10 years ago, a behind-the-scenes story on how it happened, and more about the boy’s life. This book is the CyberConnect 2 president’s way of showing people the possibilities of what we can do with video games and entertainment. It’s a story he wishes to to tell everyone involved in game development and entertainment, a story about an encounter with a young boy who gave Matsuyama and the development team hope and courage moving forward.   81CdyoSIKoL The Medicine Called Entertainment – A Delivery from a Game Creator to a Boy who is Losing his Vision releases in Japan on November 1, 2017 for 1,500 yen plus tax. For those of you interested, it is currently available for pre-order on Amazon Japan.

Fightigntheonesin In celebration of .hack//G.U.’s 10th anniversary, CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama shared a series of tweets looking back at the series, and also a message for fans that wish to see a new .hack game.   After reminiscing on the past of .hack//G.U. and how it’s already been 10 years since the game was originally revealed during E3 of 2005, Matsuyama shared a message for fans waiting for a new game:   “Even to this day, it’s a title that gets plenty of from fans, along with thoughts and demand for a remake, an HD version, a new title, or a sequel,” Matsuyama tweeted about .hack//G.U.   He continued, “All of these messages are reaching us, and we’re embracing them. For those of you that say ‘they’re probably not even listening to us’ and to those of you that are sitting there believing in us—we’ll continue doing our best. Thank you for your continued !”   While we haven’t heard anything about a new .hack title in a while, we’ve seen its characters appear as guests in other CyberConnect2 titles and events, so it’s safe to say that the developers haven’t abandoned the series, and we may possibly hear about a new title sometime in the near future, as long as the demand is there.

Earlier this year, .hack makers CyberConnect2 held a special event, where CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama shed some light on a possible .hack development in the future. It looks like that future might be coming sooner than expected, as he has revealed that the company is already working on plans for a new .hack title.

During a recent event to commemorate the first year anniversary of CyberConnect2’s Guilty Dragon, an iPhone/Android game that is in some way connected to the .hack universe, Matsuyama stated that the service for Guilty Dragon is going smoothly, and that if players continue ing the game, it will increase the chances of releasing a new .hack title for PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Vita, a Vita version of .hack//G.U., or an HD remake of .hack and more.

“CyberConnect2 have already begun the planning for the latest installment of the .hack series, and it’s only a matter of time until we can make it a reality,” said Matsuyama at a recent art event, adding that CC2 are currently preparing for that time to come, and he hopes to continue seeing fans Guilty Dragon and the developer.

Siliconera previously spoke to Matsuyama, and he confirmed that Guilty Dragon will be coming to North America and Europe “later on,” so when that happens, you might also be able to help make a new .hack a reality.

AoXIizqCMAADcSF Last weekend, I spoke with CyberConnect2 CEO Hiroshi Matsuyama. We talked about Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Generations as well as other projects like .hack. Matsuyama gave fans a call to arms asking them to bug Namco Bandai Games America on Facebook for future titles because right now .hack is just for Japan.

Matsuyama also said he would like to make a sequel for Solatorobo, but sales in North America haven't been strong. Since we're fans of CyberConnect2's works we thought we'd let Namco Bandai Games America know there are other .hack and Solatorobo fans out there. Matsuyama said to request .hack on Facebook, so that's what we'll do!
