Bandai Namco announced that the Mobile Suit from Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX will appear as part of a free update in Gundam Breaker 4. The Mobile Suit from Gundam: Requiem of Vengeance is also included through this update as well. Information as to when this update will appear will be released in the future.

Both Mobile Suits will be added into Gundam Breaker 4 as Gunpla for free, which means consumers can get the GQuuuuuuX once the update goes live without spending a dime.

In September 2024, Bandai Namco rolled out another update to Gundam Breaker 4 to add the Gundam Calibarn, from The Witch from Mercury, and the Gundam Mighty Strike Freedom from Seed Freedom entirely for free. Two versions of the Gundam Calibarn were included in this update.

Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX was announced in December 2024. Studio Khara and Sunrise are behind this new Gundam series that takes place in an alternate timeline. Hideaki Anno is working on storyboards for the new series.

While the series isn't out in full, the Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- grossed over $3.8 million within it's first three days of release in Japan. The trailer for Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- featured iconic Mobile Suit Gundam character Char Aznable.

Gundam Breaker 4 is available on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC.

Bandai Namco announced on social media that Gundam Breaker 4 will eventually get two new Gunpla models in a free update. The Witch from Mercury Gundam Calibarn and Seed Freedom Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam models will both appear. There’s no release window for this addition.

With Gundam Calibarn, there will actually be two variants of it appearing in Gundam Breaker 4. One is the standard X-EX01 Gundam Calibarn Gunpla from The Witch from Mercury season two. The other is a Permet Score Five version of the kit. That was a more limited one based on another appearance of the suit in the series.

There will only be one Gundam Seed Freedom gunpla model based on the ZGMF/A-262PD-P Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam in Gundam Breaker 4. That first appeared in the movie that debuted in Japan in January 2024.

Here’s the official announcement from Bandai Namco showing the three new Gundam Breaker 4 Gunpla models coming in the free update. It also shows the copies of the actual model kit boxes. 

In addition to this promised free update, there will be paid add-ons. The $29.99 Season will eventually add five additional story missions. 

Gundam Breaker 4 is available on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC.

However, while there are plenty of Gundam video games, not all of them are great. So, what is the best overall Mobile Suit Gundam game of all time?

For me, the best Gundam game is Gundam Breaker 3. Combine action combat that lets you do incredibly wacky combos with beam sabers, fists, axes and other classic armaments with customization options that would make an Armored Core game blush, both in the combinations of parts and the granular stat builds you can tailor your perfect custom Mobile Suit towards, and you have the recipe for one of the most fun Gundam experiences I've ever had. It also helps that the sheer amount of Mobile Suits at your disposal to customize and combine is almost overwhelming. -- John

While the Gundam anime series are almost always a hit for me, the games don’t often have the same level of quality, in my opinion. It is so hard to nail down the right gameplay feel in these titles, which is why I usually prefer the more unique games. My personal favorite is the turn-based JRPG from PS2, MS Saga: A New Dawn. This heavily underrated entry in the series has solid turn-based combat, impressively deep mech customization, and a fun enough fairly standalone storyline. I really hope we get to see a traditional non-SD Gundam turn-based game like this again someday. -- Cody

I’ve always loved the Gundam Breaker series. Even if I haven’t watched all the series included and don’t know every Gunpla I’m harvesting for parts, I adore everything it stands for. Beating up hordes of robots with pretty fun combos both at close range and a distance? Collecting tons of parts from different models to make my perfect custom creation? Then making my Gunpla pretty? It’s priceless. So I definitely think Gundam Breaker 4 is fun, even though it’s a huge grind of a game that sometimes feels better suited and balanced for co-op.

Gundam Breaker 4 begins with players being introduced to… GB4. We’re in the midst of a game-within-a-game situation. Your character is one of the people selected to take part in the GUNPLA Battle Blaze: Beyond Borders (GB4) beta. As such, you’re given access to a lobby where you can accept story, supplemental, and event missions, go to Your Room to customize your unit with pieces from other mechs, and create dioramas. One of the first things that happen in the story is you meet two other newbie players named Tao and Lin, and the three of you form a Clan with the goal of becoming the strongest players in the game. (You know, before things happen.) Given the setting, online is available, but it can be played completely alone.

That said, the whole concept of Gundam Breaker 4 feels like it is pushing you toward online play. After all, the story this time involves an online beta for a game. The grind to collect new parts and become strong enough to advance through missions is also a whole thing. So it is a situation where you might feel tempted to pay for online services, if you’re on a PS4, PS5, or Switch, just to take advantage of running through things with friends to make it feel like less if a time-consuming slog. 

Not that it isn’t playable alone! I spent the entire duration of my playtime offline and alone for Gundam Breaker 4, and I had a lot of fun. The combat system is rather tight, with buttons assigned to the left and right arms for both close range and long range options. I loved dual-wielding and triggering major combos. Switching between locked-on enemies involves a simple and natural movement. So with the right build, you could really cut through a horde of enemy Gunpla around you.

I felt the other gameplay elements were executed well too! Boosting is also quite effortless, so I never had any problems getting around the maps or eliminating the distance between foes. Ranged weapons can also pack quite a punch. If you’ve collected some really good parts, you can take advantage of them, not to mention the special skills. Cooldowns for those are reasonable as well. I also very much appreciated the Awakening system, which can help mitigate some of the issues with certain opponents being a tad tanky.

The thing I did notice is that some missions can be a bit of a slog when you go through them alone. They wouldn’t be too difficult for a solo challenge, mind you. Rather, it felt like certain boss-type enemies are damage sponges. In some cases, I think even if I was in a party with other actual players, it would still feel like they take too much damage to take down. The life bars could involve multiple ones to cut through. Since the earlier two waves for stages tend to also involve "cut down all the other enemy gunpla," it's rough on the hands.

Bandai Namco is a bit of a teaser when it comes to Gundam Breaker 4, however. Right in the midst of the introduction, a character named Tao with an SD Gunpla avatar comes up and reveals that hey! Those types of models are here to harvest parts from too! However, they aren’t as plentiful as the standard Gunpla. So even though there are over 250 base kits and a wide variety of options, I was disappointed that we didn’t get to see as many of the “new” kinds in this release. 

The thing is… it feels like the grind can be worth it! I really loved getting to build my custom Gunpla. The range of parts and kits motivated me to keep going through levels, especially so I could get the SD Gundam parts of my dreams to create an abomination that included mismatched pieces. In Assembly, you can set your head, body, right and left arms, legs, backpack, right and left close-range weapons, right and left long-range weapons, shield, and decorative builder parts. When in the Paint area, you can adjust the head, body, arms, legs, backpack, weapon, and shield colors. Decal and weathering options are available there. You can also go to Blueprint to save favorite sets.

The different customization options remain a highlight. I feel like the weathering elements also help parts from different kits, which may normally not look like they fit well together, do so when combined with all the other customization items. I absolutely spent as much time in My Room adjusting how my avatar looked as I did repeating missions. (Even with some bosses taking forever to beat alone.) Cobbling together custom builds with all of these iconic parts remains an absolute delight. So I need to replay a mission like three or four times to get the exact parts I need to kitbash my dream avatar. I’m okay with that! Especially since, once you clear a mission, it will note which opponents are around so you can be certain you'll find the pieces you need or want.

Going into Gundam Breaker 4, you need to accept that it’s the type of game that will involve grinding missions for experience and parts. I felt like the ensuing Gunpla I’d create and opportunities to collect even more customization elements was worth it! Especially since the combat system is tight and it all looks really good. If you’re not up for replaying a lot of assignments and dealing with occasional hurdles in fights that might feel better balanced for multiplayer, it might be wise to look at an older entry. But it can be a really good time, especially if you love the Gundam and this spin-off series or have a crew you’ll be playing it with.

In a recent interview, the developers of Gundam Breaker 4 revealed specific restrictions for certain Gunpla models, notably "Super Fumina" and "Mobile Doll May." These models will have limitations in customization, particularly in paint options and how their parts behave during gameplay. 

According to producer Masanori Tanaka, while most Gunpla parts can be freely painted and detach when damaged in Gundam Breaker 4 , Fumina and Mobile Doll May models will have restrictions on paint options. Additionally, when these models are damaged, their parts will not fly off but will instead be represented by static noise. These restrictions are implemented to comply with ethical guidelines and game ratings.

The interview also touched on new gameplay elements, such as the introduction of the "whip" weapon and a "Survival" mode, where players face 50 waves of increasingly challenging enemies. The "Ability Cartridge" system was also discussed, offering enhanced customization options for players.

In related news, Bandai Namco recently confirmed the worldwide release date for Gundam Breaker 4, set for August 29, 2024. Players can choose between the standard physical edition and two Digital Deluxe Editions, which offer early unlocks, additional story missions, and exclusive Gundam suits. 

Pre-orders are now available for both physical and digital editions of Gundam Breaker 4, set for release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam.

The Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam from Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom will appear in Gundam Breaker 4 as part of a free update. More information on the release date will appear via official social media channels later on.

The trailer is a humorous take on the Kira and Athrun rivalry in the Mobile Suit Gundam Seed anime. Key lines from the anime have been remodeled to fit the commercial, showing Athrun being a ionate Gundam Breaker 4 fan who’s yelling at Kira for dropping the series out of despair at there never being a new one. Characters who died in the original show are talked about as if they’d gotten their Gunpla broken instead.

The Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam is a new version of the Freedom Gundam that debuted in the Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Freedom movie. In the movie, Lacus co-piloted this Gundam with Kira. Some of its weapons include the atom-disintegrating beam cannon “Disruptor” and upgraded railguns.

Aside from the Mighty Strike Freedom Gundam being in Gundam Breaker 4, this entry will feature over 250 Gunpla units, including SD Gundams. There will also be a diorama mode where you can recreate full scenes, as well as an improved customization form. You’ll be able increase or decrease the size of the Gunpla parts, which will let you mix SD parts with normal Gunpla parts.

Gundam Breaker 4 will come out on the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC via Steam on August 29, 2024.

On July 2, 2024, Bandai Namco announced the dates for the latest Gundam Breaker series game Gundam Breaker 4 Open Network Test. Starting on July 18, 2024, players will be able to test out the multiplayer modes. The beta will end on July 20, 2024.

The social media post announcing the Open Network Test included a brand new trailer showcasing customization and the combat options players will have as they control their specialized personal designs.

Players engaging in the Open Network Test will be able to customize their own Gunpla creation out of a selection of over 20 Mobile suits. There will be over 250 that will be available in the game at launch. We will be able to take their creations into three-player co-op matches with friends and other players against waves of other custom Gunpla and giant mobile suits. In addition, this installment will all us to show off custom Gundam units in the multiplayer lobby, which is a first for the series.

Bandai Namco provided the following schedule and dates for the Gundam Breaker 4 Open Network Test:

• July 17, 2024 at 9pm PT (12am ET on July 18, 2024): Pre-loading for the Open Network Test will begin for the PS4, PS5, and Switch.

Bandai Namco announced the Gundam Breaker 4 release date first in Japan during a showcase, then worldwide. It will appear in every region on August 29, 2024, and a physical launch edition and digital deluxe versions will appear.

There will be two Digital Deluxe Editions for Gundam Breaker 4. Each one features early unlocks and additional parts. The Digital Deluxe includes five story mission packs with Gundams, the Gundam Breaker version of Gunbarrel Strike Gundam, and the Gundam Breaker 4 hero mobile suit. 15 suits from seven series, including Gundam Wing, Gundam SEED, and Gundam: The Witch from Mercury will be among the early unlocks. The Digital Ultimate Edition adds a Diorama Pack and its bonus easels and posters.

Here’s the official trailer that highlights the release date for Gundam Breaker 4. It starts with a little bit of battling, before getting into the customization elements. There are 11 areas that we can customize. The footage showed how areas like the Gunpla head, body, right arm, left arm, legs, and backpack can be changed around with base model kit parts. At the 34 mark, some of the Gundams that will appear show up. Aerial, from Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, will be among them.

Gundam Breaker 4 will come to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam in North America, Japan, and Europe on August 29, 2024.

Bandai Namco announced it will offer a Gundam Breaker 4 Launch Edition for early physical copies of the game sold. Anyone who already pre-ordered or pre-orders, as well as people who buy it immediately after launch, will get this edition that includes a Gundam poster.

This Launch Edition will be available for the PS4, PS5, and Switch versions of the game. Its items will be given to people who got standard or collector’s edition versions of the game. People get reversible cover art that features the Japanese and worldwide designs, a  Gunbarrel Strike Gundam poster, and early access to some builder’s parts and the RX-78 Gundam. (People who don’t get the Launch Edition will also get access to that gunpla and those parts, but they’ll have to play through the game for a bit.)

While we do know about the Gundam Breaker 4 Launch Edition for physical copies and pre-orders are open, we don’t know the game’s release date yet. It is expected to appear in 2024. However, Bandai Namco did recently hold a Closed Network Test. That took place between March 15-17, 2024. It’s unknown if we’ll also see a wider open beta ahead of the game’s launch. 

Gundam Breaker 4 will appear on the PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC in 2024.

Bandai Namco has announced that Gundam Breaker 4 will have a full English dub. You will be able to choose between the English and the original Japanese voice-overs through the settings as well.

According to the announcement Tweet (post), the game will feature an English dub from veterans of past Gundam works. There is no cast list as of yet, so it’s hard to tell who might be in this game. Some voice actors who previously appeared in Gundam titles include Alejandro Saab (Shaddiq in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury), Keith Silverstein (Char Aznable in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin), and Sam Vincent (Athrun in Mobile Suit Gundam SeeD). The Japanese cast list will also likely feature voice actors who previously appeared in Gundam shows and games.

Gundam Breaker 4 is an title with hack ‘n’ slash rogue-like gameplay. You’ll also be able to put together Gunpla kits. Bandai Namco first revealed this game during the February 21, 2024 Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase. If you live in Japan and are interested in playing the game before it comes out, you can try applying to the closed network test. Applications will close on March 4, 2024.

Bandai Namco opened up applications for its closed network test of Gundam Breaker 4 in Japan. You will have until March 4, 2024 to put in your applications.

In order to apply, you simply need to fill out your information from this link here. However, you must live in Japan in order to participate. The game will be on the PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch, so you need to own one of those consoles as well. Because it requires internet access, you’ll need to have a PlayStation Plus or Nintendo Switch Online . If Bandai Namco chooses you for the Gundam Breakers 4 closed network test, you’ll receive the news after March 11, 2024. As for the test itself, it’ll take place on March 15 and 17, 2024.

During the test, Bandai Namco will be allowing players to hang out in the multiplayer lobby, which can contain 24 players a once. You’ll also be able to play online multiplayer and customize your personal Gunpla. As a note, there’s a chance that Bandai Namco will end the test early for maintenance purposes.

Gundam Breaker 4 is the latest entry in the Gundam Breaker series of games. These games have hack ‘n’ slash rogue-like gameplay, as well as Gunpla kits that you can put together. Bandai Namco first revealed the game during the February 21, 2024 Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase.

Gundam Breaker 4 will come out on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Windows PC some time in 2024. The applications for the closed network test will close on March 4, 2024.

A new Mobile Suit Gundam game appeared during the Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase on February 21, 2024, and it is Gundam Breaker 4 for the Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC. It has a 2024 launch window.

The additional platforms were confirmed by Bandai Namco after the reveal. These were also accompanied by a new trailer for the title.

The goal in this line of games is to have your Gunpla and send it to defeat others to get more parts to update your own. The initial reveal confirmed that 250 models will appear in this game, with their parts available to mix and match. While the focus was on gameplay like battling and customizing in the announcement, a new Diorama Mode that lets you customize and “display” multiple Gundams also appeared.
