Prime 1 Studio opened pre-orders for its 1/4 scale figure of Dizzy from the Guilty Gear Xrd series. After previously showing a barely painted prototype in November 2024, the studio has finished painting it. It will produce 500 copies of the figure and release them in the latter half of 2026.

This static figure will depict Dizzy, along with her guardian wings Undine and Necro, with meticulous detail. The set will have an overall height of 63 cm (~24.8 in), width of 57 cm (~22.44 in), and depth of 39 cm (~15.35 in).

Here are some of the sample images of the figure set from multiple angles:

The figure set will be available at $1,199.00, with up to eight payment installments available. People who want to purchase the figure will also have to prepare more funds to cover the shipping costs and any additional import tariffs.

Prime 1 Studio will only produce 500 copies of this figure. However, it will also add a bonus background stand featuring the "Let's Rock!" sign that appears in the fighting game to start a duel round.

As a side note, Prime 1 Studio put Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 as the basis of its Dizzy figure. Strictly speaking, though, Dizzy made her actual debut in the Xrd sub-series as a DLC character for Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator in July 2016. Arc System Works later put her in the roster by default on the standalone releases of the Rev 2 major update. Dizzy received a brand-new design when she ed the Guilty Gear Strive roster in late October 2024.

The 1/4 scale figure of Dizzy from the Guilty Gear Xrd series will be available between July 2026 and October 2026.

Guilty Gear Xrd REV2 rollback

Arc System Works had a surprise for Guilty Gear fans over the weekend at the 2022 CEOtaku fighting game event. It announced that rollback will come to the PC edition of Guilty Gear Xrd REV2, and by extension, Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-. Tests of the netcode are also planned for October 2022.

Check out the announcement trailer below.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mTnAGIZRtB4

Guilty Gear Xrd REV2 is the updated edition of Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-Revelator was released in 2015 and '16, and was the direct sequel to 2014's Guilty Gear Xrd -Sign-. In its announcement, Arc System Works mentioned that Xrd REV2 is still very popular, justifying the decision to add it to the PC edition. It did not mention whether it planned to update the PS4 edition of the game, though.

Rollback netcode is a strategy for facilitating communication between two players over the internet. Fighting games are particularly sensitive to network conditions and need to ensure that players can "sync up". Otherwise, the game experience is affected, and fights over the internet will feel "laggy", especially when players are separated by large distances. Recently fighting game developers have embraced implementing rollback to ensure that their titles feel better to play online. Even older games like Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and now Guilty Gear Xrd REV2 received rollback. Newer titles, like Guilty Gear Strive, have had it implemented from launch.

Guilty Gear Xrd REV2 is available on PS4, and on PC via Steam. A public test for the rollback implementation is scheduled for sometime in October 2022. More details will be announced via the official Twitter .

A recent story has been making waves in Japan, about a temporary government worker of Ota city of Gunma Prefecture, who lied about being a Guilty Gear champion, and it spiraled out of control.

ad0185a8f8769d836634e295f8fa87df

It all started out when 23-year-old temporary government worker, Masahiro Ito (no, not the Silent Hill artist), who is supposedly a high-ranked and respected Guilty Gear player, told friends and co-workers that he was headed to Paris, , to participate in a major fighting game tournament, called “Autumn Stunfest,” from September 20 through 21.

itomasahiro_lie-3 itomasahiro_lie8

itomasahiro_lie-2 itomasahiro_lie-1

He took time off work so that he could go on his journey to Europe in order to take on the best Guilty Gear players from around the world. Ito shared images on Facebook of his travels in and during this time.

Had Ito left it at that, nothing would have likely come of it, but it’s the following part where things got really messy—he claimed to have won this major tournament.

itomasahiro_lie4

After telling his friends and co-workers, it didn’t take long for word to spread that a Japanese government worker won a major fighting game tournament. The story even got a spot in the Jomo Shimbun, a regional daily newspaper published in Gunma Prefecture. Even Asahi, widely regarded for its journalism as the most respected daily newspaper in Japan, published an article about Ito's feat.

In the Asahi article, which has since then been removed, Ito stated that he participated in a tournament for Guilty Gear, a fighting game that is loved by hundreds of thousands of players around the world. He said that his talent was acknowledged from online tournaments, and he was invited to the tournament, featuring about 100 other participants from across the globe.

To make matters worse, he said that instead of accepting the 3 million yen grand prize (roughly $30,000 USD) for winning the tourney (which he lost in the second round but made his way all the way to the top from the losers bracket), he opted to be seeded for the next tournament, because his “focus isn’t on making money right now, but to the national civil service exam in order to become an official government employee.” Quite the stand up guy.

0311 0211

Needless to say, with that much nationwide attention from the press, a lot Guilty Gear and fighting game fans got wind of it all, and began asking about this tournament called “Autumn Stunfest,” which they never heard of until now. Stunfest is an actual tournament in , which also featured Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator in this year’s tournament back in May, but the Internet detectives pointed out that there’s nothing about an “Autumn Stunfest” on their official website or anywhere else.

itomasahiro_lie-1

They also found that the images from his Euro trip were actually from random blogs via Google Search.

When Tantei Watch got a hold of Ito and asked him to share more details, Ito said that he knew about what’s been happening online, but he still maintained that he did indeed go overseas to participate in a tournament, but had no way to prove it because the info was only available to the officials of the tournament. He also stated that you wouldn’t find any information on this tournament, because it wasn’t actually a major one, but a small tourney that takes place on a weekly basis with about as many participants you’d see at regular arcade tournaments in Japan.

Ito went on to say that this tournament isn’t related with the regular Stunfest, and it wasn’t one that featured the best players but amateurs, and blamed the newspapers for making it into a bigger deal.

The whole saga came to an end earlier today in Japan, when the Ota City Hall held a press conference on the matter, and revealed that parts of what was said in the interviews were fabricated by their temporary worker Ito. According to Ito, it all started when he told a co-worker he was going to a tournament in , and there was no going back on his word. That's when things just got out of hand.

masahiroito_pakuri1

To give you an idea just how out of hand the situation was for Ito and the Ota City Hall, not only was the story about his exposure broadcasted across Japan, but it also seems to have made the news on French television.

When reached out for a comment, a Stunfest tournament organizer said that he has no intention to share his thoughts on Ito's claim to have won their tournament without actually having entered, but he said that he feels honored to have people know about their tournament. He also added that they're having the next Stunfest in May next year, and hopes to see Ito participate as a player.

The Ota City Hall is currently deciding on its disciplinary action for Ito, and it sounds like he’ll have a lot more time on his hands to practice Guilty Gear. Look out, EVO 2017.

Update: Apparently the image of the French news, which is being used by our source and various other Japanese media outlets, isn't real. Recent reports have also revealed that the Ota City Hall will not extent Ito's contract after September.

game_ito-10

The situation with Ito has turned into quite the big topic in Japan, with reports coming from all across the country. News stations have even ed the Stunfest owner in to ask about “Autumn Stunfest” and to discuss more about Ito. You can get an idea how things have blown out of proportion with all the images from the media here.

For example, they even went as far as making cartoon images to make it easier to explain what happened:

2016-09-29_035741

2016-09-29_035755

“We actually have an employee who won a video game world tournament the other day.”

“I don’t want to get in trouble by my parents, so please don’t make a big deal out of this”

2016-09-29_035806

“You say world’s best, but I never even heard of you before.”

“The tournament never took place on that day.”

2016-09-29_035820

“I didn’t go to . I didn’t win a tournament.”

“The Okinawa tournament win was also a lie.”

Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-_20160529185934

Arc System Works is good at making fighting games with characters whose play styles require you to think outside of the box. It isn’t as simple as everyone falling into certain categories, where if you’re good at using Grapplers in general, you’ll be an instant Potemkin master or zoning fans should immediately rush to Bedman. Things are more complicated than that, and both Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator’s Jack-O’ and Raven highlight that. Both of these new characters are the sort that require people to have an idea in their mind of how they’d like a fight to go before it even begins, due to Jack-O’s minion management and a need to make sure Raven takes enough damage to power himself up, but not put you in danger.

While Jack-O’ is complex, she’s the kind of character you could pick up and learn immediately after grabbing Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator. Many of her special attacks are incredibly easy to pull off. Both her Dust Attack and Remove the Chain of Chiron only require you to push the Dust button, and each consumes the Tension gauge to boost the attack. Her Hunger of Dopoulos special, which is great for ending a combo, is executed by holding back on the d-pad while pressing the Dust button. The Elysion Driver command grab is executed by pressing forward and dust at once. Want some Zest? Down and Dust. She’s not terribly complicated, which bodes well for beginners.

Even Jack-O’s Overdrives keep things simple. Calvados being a quick 214+slash away. Forever Elysion Driver’s a full circle with a punch. They’re easy to time and put together, which will benefit anyone coming into the game and excited ing someone new. I was hesitant to go with her first, because she’s new and seems complicated, but I feel like she’s one of the most welcoming fighters.

Guilty Gear Xrd -Revelator-_20160529190244

It’s like this is done to help ease you into the more complicated strategic measures. Jack-O’ can set up groups of minions and both direct and buff them. It’s basically like playing a real-time strategy game while having her fight an opponent. Good multitasking skills are key to maintaining her little buddies, while also taking time to jump in and unleash her own attacks. She can have three Ghost Houses set at once, and they’re easily placed by pressing down twice, then punch, kick, or slash for Knight, Lancer, or Magician ghosts. Two ghosts can of each type can be out at a time, with Knights and Magicians flying out and Lancers walking along. Once you have at least two Ghost Houses set, it’s smart to bring up Organ Deployment by pressing down twice and heavy slash to issue commands. When Jack-O’ is in this state, pressing punch retrieves all ghosts, kick triggers Clock Up to increase their attack and movement speeds, slash causes an Explosion that resets their levels and makes them all explode, and Aegis Field protects Jack-O’ and all ghosts within the spherical shield for five seconds. It sounds easy, right? It basically is.

Jack-O’ only gets more difficult once you factor in the other player. Having two to three Ghost Houses out at a time, with Ghosts constantly getting stronger and probably buffed from regular castings of Clock Up, is dangerous. Especially if the player using Jack-O’ sees someone trying to make an opening to get in, puts up an Aegis Shield to protect her, makes the minions go off in an Explosion, then uses Retrieve All Ghosts to pull them safely home again. She’s not the most difficult character to learn, but figuring out a way to safely set up your little buddies and bear down on enemies can take some time. I recommend lots of practice in the dojo, because you’ll need to work out specific strategies and plans ahead of time for optimum efficiency.

On the other hand, Raven is a character where planning is key, because you’re going to be putting him in danger to make him more efficient. Excitement is the name of the game with him, and I’m not ashamed to say I’m still nowhere close to mastering him. In fact, he’s probably the Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator character I have the most trouble using. Part of it is because putting him out there to take damage is what makes him more effective, but I haven’t personally worked out a way to do it without letting my opponents take too much advantage.

Raven is a high risk character. It’s possible to power him up for the rest of a round by going 214+kick to trigger Give It to Me Here. By holding this and taking damage, his excitement will be raise. He’ll be vulnerable, but increase power as a result. Seeing as two of his special moves, Grausam Impuls and Wachen Zweig, and both his Getreuer and Verzweifelt Overdrives increase in power if his excitement is high, with the special requiring that gauge to be three or higher.

As a positive, once you do have his excitement raised, some of his other specials are good at helping him stay alive. The moves above are powered up as a result of taking that chance, and his Schmerz Berg and Grebechlich Licht projectiles temporarily slow down opponents when they hit. His air dash is a swoop that deals damage without pressing any buttons, which is handy since it has an unexpected arch to it. I find the projectiles are a helpful lead-in to the Overdrives, especially since I had trouble getting the range right for Getreuer at the start. Due to his odd reach, it felt like sometimes I’d be getting too close to properly land a hit.

Raven’s nature helps explain why he’s normally locked away. While he’s currently free via an unlock in the PlayStation Store until June 21, 2016, he normally costs 200,000W$. He’s really a difficult character to work out and, even after a week and a half, I can’t get him right. I had to earn the money to get him, and I feel like that extra experience helped. Spend a lot of time in the Dojo with him too, because you need to anticipate attacks and have various strategies in place to make sure he’s properly powered up every round.

Both Jack-O’ and Raven are great additions to Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator. They’re unique fighters with interesting personalities and movesets. I especially like how Jack-O’ is one that anyone could come in and enjoy using, thanks to her simplified inputs and reliance on allies in the field, while Raven’s more of a reward for putting in the effort by giving you a chance to spend even more time learning to use a difficult dude. As long as people are willing to practice with both and plan ahead, they’ll find them both to be great characters to use for fun or as mains.

Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator is immediately available for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4.

New characters ing an existing character roster is always an exciting event. You’re getting an opportunity to possibly find a new main and employ new strategies that revolve around new, perhaps even unexpected, movesets. Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator introduces Kum Haehyun, Jack-O’, and Raven to the cast, and each one of these characters requires you to think a little differently about how you play the game. Kum Haehyun, in particular, requires a keen understanding of her moveset and a careful means of judging the flow of battle.

Kum Haehyun is the most straightforward of the new characters. She’s a Tuner that rides inside of a robot that looks like an old man. From her outward appearance, you’d expect her to play like Potemkin, but looks can be deceiving. Her attacks do feel quite deliberate, since she doesn’t use the gatling system for combos and relies on a link-based system that alters attacks with subsequent button presses, and she has large hitboxes, but she’s more newcomer friendly than the other fighter, doesn’t move slowly, and has no armored moves.

For those unfamiliar with the , other Guilty Gear characters utilize a gatling combo system, where you can be in one position with one attack, then continue to lead into additional attacks or specials from that point by pressing additional buttons and directional inputs. With Kum Haehyun, pressing additional buttons after an attack will alter that attack and lead into additional hits.

CkZqnPRW0AApjm7

Plenty of her attacks show how one little alteration can change how Kum Haehyun’s ability works. Tuning Ball is perhaps the best example. This is her standard projectile special. Pressing slash at the end of a 236 forward semi-circle move will send off a basic, blue projectile that hits once and can be moved forward and back with the forward and back directional buttons after it’s launched. If someone presses heavy slash instead of slash, it’ll instead be red and hit your opponent multiple times. You may want to go with the charged version if you’re able to stagger your enemy with a Command Normal beforehand. The Falcon Dive kicks can be held at the end to charge the attack and break through a guard. Aerial Falcon Dive also offers varying trajectories with the forward and back buttons and I’ve used it as an anti-air move.

Even Kum Haehyn’s Enlightened 3000 Palm Strike and Celestial Tuning Ball Overdrives can be customized. Enlightened 3000 Palm Strike alters the attack in one of two ways, depending on the attack pressed at the end of the input sequence. It’s unblockable if you press heavy slash at the end, which some may want to do to perhaps guarantee damage to their opponent. Pressing Dust at the end will lower the Burst gauge in exchange for enhancing the attack. Both options also allow you to move the opponent closer or further away from you with the directional buttons. Meanwhile, Celestial Tuning Ball is an upgraded version of the standard Tuning Ball that can be moved all around the screen with the directional buttons. You can send it anywhere you’d like, not just forward and back like the standard tuning balls. Each one gives you control over the battlefield and situation. Even if the setup isn’t ideal when you launch into the Overdrive, the ability to move your opponent or the oversized Tuning Ball projectile will help you land a substantial hit.

All of this means that people using Kum Haehyun need both a good memory and to have the ability to read the flow of a fight. You need to know which moves are and aren’t right for any given situation and the inputs you need to make things work in your favor. You have to have practiced with her enough times to move the Tuning Ball projectiles around quickly and efficiently once launched. It’s even important to get the timing right so you can use a Command Normal at the right time to stagger a foe, so you could maybe transition into a Falcon Dive or Enlightened 3000 Palm Strike.

CkZqUmvWsAA1ZDJ

The funny thing is, despite the intricacies of her moveset, Kum Haehyun isn’t one of the hardest Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator characters to use. It could take two weeks or so before you perfect her, but it isn’t too difficult to start understanding what does and doesn’t work. Especially if you take the time to go through the Dojo mode with her. Though, I’d also recommend taking her through as many online matches as you can. While the Dojo is a tremendous help, the best practice is against other people. You’re going to want to experience a wide range of matchups to figure out when certain variations of her Specials and Enlightened 3000 Palm Strike Overdrive should be used. Just make sure you don’t use Stylish, unless you’re trying to capture screenshots. You need the precise inputs only Technical can offer.

Simply put, Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator’s Kum Haehyun is a character that requires you to read a battle and not hesitate when it comes to triggering specials. She gives you a lot of options, which means you can switch things up as the battle’s pace ebbs and flows. Learn how to control projectiles properly, as a means of anti-air defense and to hit while staying out of reach of certain characters. Know when to go with a standard or charged special. If you put in enough time, she can be a rather versatile fighter.

Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator is immediately available for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 in North America. It will come to Europe on June 10, 2016. Kum Haehyun is immediately available in the North American PlayStation Store and free until June 21, 2016.

<< How to read and understand sales

Last week, Japan didn’t see any major releases following the previous week that saw Dragon Quest Heroes II, Overwatch, Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator, and more. Here’s a look at video game sales data for software and hardware that sold from the week of May 30 through June 5, 2016.

Dragon Quest Heroes II continues to sell well in its second week after having sold 107,366 units across PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita to take the top three spots. Following in #4 is Overwatch, which saw 17,897 copies moved in its second week.

In #5 Kirby: Planet Robobot shows that it’ll be there to stay for a while with 14,832 copies sold this past week, which isn’t bad when considering that the game released in Japan at the end of April. After the #5 spot, the software numbers are significantly lower overall, but we can still see that many of the regular titles of late have made themselves at home in the top-20. As far as hardware sales go, they’re pretty similar to what we saw the week prior.

The only new release in Japan last week was Prototype’s visual novel Taisho x Alice: All in One for PlayStation Vita, which took the #14 spot with 4,539 copies sold.

The top-20 chart for the week is as follows:

<< Last week’s software sales chart

<< How to read and understand sales

Last week, Japan saw a few major releases, with the biggest one being Dragon Quest Heroes II on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation Vita. Overwatch and Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator also tagged along. Media Create provides us with a look at video game sales data for software and hardware that sold from the week of May 23 through May 29, 2016.

The king of this week’s software goes to Dragon Quest Heroes II—no contest about that. It took the top three spots with 184,820 units sold on PlayStation 4, 120,664 units on PlayStation Vita, and 68,376 on PlayStation 3 for a total of 373,860 units sold across all three platforms.

To give you an idea on how it stacks with the previous title, the first Dragon Quest Heroes marched out a combined total of 594,749 copies in its debut week between the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 versions (325,446 on PS4 and 269,303 on PS3). The predecessor might make its sequel look worse if you go by numbers alone, but keep in mind that Dragon Quest Heroes was a pretty big deal given that it was the first Musou-style Dragon Quest title ever, so there was plenty of excitement surrounding it at the time. Another thing worth mentioning is that it took just a little over a year for the sequel to release in Japan, so one could imagine that fans can only take on so many thousands of Slimes and Dracky hordes. Nonetheless, those are still good numbers for the company.

The latest hype train that is Overwatch made its stop in Japan as well, putting the game at #4 with 58,363 copies sold in its first week debut. This makes it the best-selling debut for any Blizzard title in Japan, beating out Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Ultimate Evil Edition back in 2014 which sold a combined total of 33,648 copies (17,843 on PS4 and 15,816 on PS3). Certainly not bad for a company that was practically unknown in Japan until recent years.

Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator took the #5 and #8 spots with 17,829 copies sold on PlayStation 4 and 9,385 copies on PlayStation 3 for a combined total of 27,214 copies between the two platforms. Guilty Gear Xrd –Sign- sold 39,916 copies in its debut back in December 2014, so the second entry from the latest series took a bit of a dip there, but again, it’s only been about a year and half since the release of the first game, so I don’t think anyone was really expecting it to out-sell it by any means.

Last but not least, we have ClaDun Sengoku that also made its debut on PlayStation Vita, taking the #15 spot with 4,459 units sold. The previous title from the series in ClaDun2 for PSP sold 5,956 units back in 2011. Back then, it was mentioned that the game was able to break even with the low development costs on the PSP for such titles, but I wonder if the same applies for the new PlayStation Vita game at similar figures.

The hardware sales saw another stagnant week for the most part, but the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita got a bump by a few thousand compared to the week before. That’s definitely the power of Dragon Quest at work here.

The top-20 chart for the week is as follows:
