The Disney+ Japanese YouTube channel ed a trailer for Twisted Wonderland: Episode of Heartslabyul, the anime adaptation of the titular game. At a minute and a half long, the trailer gives us a look at the disastrous opening ceremony, in which protagonist Yuken finds himself in Twisted Wonderland and meets Grim.

The trailer appeared online over the weekend, and is only available in Japanese. Most of the housewardens briefly appear in the trailer, as they’re present during the ceremony, save for Idia and Malleus.

You can watch the trailer below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvvakdu1qzI

Yohei Azakami voices Yuken in the anime adaptation of Twisted Wonderland: Episode of Heartslabyul. Azakami’s prominent roles include Guel from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury, Mydei from Honkai: Star Rail, and Toshizo Hijikata from Blue Miburo.

Twisted Wonderland is a Japanese mobile game in which you attend a school full of characters “twisted” from Disney villains. It’s more akin to a text adventure with rhythm game and battle RPG elements than the dating sim some believe it to be. As a note, the anime is based off the manga adaptation rather than the game. There, the “Yu” changes from book to book. So it’s unknown if Yuken will remain the protagonist in the following Savanaclaw and Octavinelle parts, or if the anime will somehow introduce a different Yu.

Twisted Wonderland is available on mobile devices and the anime will start airing in October 2025 as a Disney+ exclusive. You can also read the manga in English via Viz.

twisted wonderland anime

After three years of radio silence, we finally have some news on what’s going on with the anime adaptation of Twisted Wonderland. We now have a key visual for it, along with the news that it’ll start streaming on Disney+ in October 2025. [Thanks, Dengeki Online!]

The key visual shows the seven dorm leaders in the order that they become important in the story. Riddle is the closest, since the game starts with the Heartslabyul chapter, and Malleus is the furthest, as Diasomnia was the final dorm to have a main story about it. Disney confirmed three seasons so far, and the name of the first season is “Episode of Heartslabyul.” Each season will be a different chapter of the main story, meaning we'll also see the Savanaclaw and Octavinelle chapters. According to the press release, the anime will include scenes and details from the manga adaptation as well.

Twisted Wonderland is a visual novel that takes place in a magical school, with seven dormitories drawing inspiration from major Disney villains. All of the characters who attend the school are also either based on characters or motifs from various Disney movies. The player is a normal person who finds themself in this magical world. Along with the mysterious creature Grim, they have wild misadventures with everyone while searching for a way home. Some people may misunderstand Twisted Wonderland as a dating sim, but it is not.

The Twisted Wonderland anime will start airing on Disney+ in October 2025. More details on it, such as trailers, will appear closer to that release window.

Record of Ragnarok Season 1 Blu 42l51 ray Lets You See How the Show Changed https://siliconera.voiranime.info/record-of-ragnarok-season-1-blu-ray-lets-you-see-how-the-anime-changed/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=record-of-ragnarok-season-1-blu-ray-lets-you-see-how-the-anime-changed https://siliconera.voiranime.info/record-of-ragnarok-season-1-blu-ray-lets-you-see-how-the-anime-changed/#respond <![CDATA[Jenni Lada]]> Sat, 17 Jun 2023 16:00:48 +0000 <![CDATA[Anime]]> <![CDATA[Europe]]> <![CDATA[Graphinica]]> <![CDATA[Japan]]> <![CDATA[Netflix]]> <![CDATA[North America]]> <![CDATA[Playtests]]> <![CDATA[Record of Ragnarok]]> <![CDATA[Viz Media]]> https://siliconera.voiranime.info/?p=968563 <![CDATA[

Record of Ragnarok Season 1 Blu-ray Lets You See How the Show Changed

The Record of Ragnarok anime adaptation is one where you can tell it’s a work-in-progress and growing, especially looking from season 1 to season 2. There’s a very different contrast in quality, even though there’s a sense of the spirit attempting to uphold the spirit of the original manga at times. Even so, now that we have seen its second season, the Record of Ragnarok season 1 Blu-ray is handy for both catching up and its supplemental materials.

For those unfamiliar with it, Record of Ragnarok is the sort of series where the original purpose is to see these fights between iconic humans from across history against the gods themselves. The 13 Valkyrie allow themselves to become weapons for the humans to wield in matches. If they can win seven out of the thirteen fights, the tide turns in their favor. Season one features matches. We get to watch Lu Bu fight Thor, Adam face Zeus, and Kojiro Sasaki attack Poseidon.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9HxsIYORyE&ab_channel=NetflixAnime

Now, in general, the first season 1 of Record of Ragnarok isn’t always handled well. The animations isn’t always great, which can really get noticeable with fights stretching out over multiple episodes. The pacing is also a problem, given the level of information and how it’s doled out between these assaults. Essentially, this adaptation isn’t for everyone. However, season 2 does feel a bit stronger and slightly well animated, perhaps in part due to Yumeta Company’s involvement. (Graphinica handled the first season on its own.)

This essentially means the Record of Ragnarok season 1 Blu-ray is for people who really enjoyed the anime adaptation. And it handles things well for people who did. You have all 12 episodes available with it. You’re getting the additional features you expect, like the clean openings and endings. The audio quality is good.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epbjLd6dqDY&ab_channel=vizmedia

Probably what I appreciated about this release is the additional features that do tie it back into the source material. While season 1 of Record of Ragnarok isn’t what I wanted it to be, the Blu-ray for the anime has these things you can cite to remind you of what things are like. The first chapter of the manga is on the disc, so you can make that comparison between the source and its adaptation. I also appreciated the art gallery. While the animation might have been an issue, the character designs are good in both the manga and anime. So that lets someone appreciate that.

If you've been having issues with the Record of Ragnarok anime adaptation, the season 1 Blu-ray isn't going to blow you away and convince you it's worth watching. But if you are enjoying it, it's a good way to catch up without being tethered to a streaming service subscription. Also, the extra features there focus on the elements that might be attractive to a fan, like the opening and ending, gallery, and manga, so it's efficiently executed.

The Record of Ragnarok season 1 Blu-ray is available via Viz Media now, and the anime is available to stream on Netflix. The manga is localized by Viz Media as well.

New Legend of Mana Anime Video Shows Off Its Characters

There’s a new Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal anime trailer, and this video shows off its cast of characters and pins down a release window. While it previously had a tentative 2022 window, it is now confirmed to appear in October 2022. The new footage also shows off many familiar faces. Even though this story will follow the male version of the avatar, named Shiloh, and its Jumi arc, other people will appear too.

Of course, Elazul and Pearl feature prominently in the video. Elazul is the Jumi Knight who journeys alongside Pearl to find other of the Jumi. That’s a race of people who have a stone embedded into their chests tied to their health and well-being. We also see Shiloh talk about things with Lil’ Cactus, who then records it in a diary. Bud and Lisa appear and refer to Shiloh as their “master.” (In-game, they after The Two Sorcerers event.) We also see Duelle and a Sproutling. At the very end, Seraphina, the female version of the protagonist, talking to a fairy. This teaser could mean another arc from the game may get an anime adaptation.

As a reminder, the last trailer for this adaptation appeared back in April 2022.

The Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal Anime Trailer, Release Window Appears, Characters Shown

There is a new Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal anime trailer. It confirmed that the show will cover the game’s Jumi arc. This meant three major characters from the series’ depiction were revealed. All three also appear in the new key art. This comes ahead of the show’s 2022 debut, which was also recently confirmed. [Thanks, Comic Natalie!]

To help remind people what’s going on, the Jumi are a race of characters in Legend of Mana who have precious stones in their chests. Their names also refer to the one that makes up their core. (So for example Elazul is Lapis Lazuli.) During the course of the game and its anime adaptation, someone is targeting Jumi to attack and destroy their cores. If someone’s core is damaged, they could be permanently altered or killed. In Legend of Mana, there is a situation in which someone is targeting Jumi and their stones.

The trailer also revealed voice actors for three major characters from both the Legend of Mana game and anime. The main character will be the male version of the avatar, Shiloh. He’ll be voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki. The Jumi Knight Elazul and Pearl, the Guardian he’s protecting, will appear too. Yuichiro Umehara will play Elazul. Kaori Nazuka is Pearl.

Here’s the full Legend of Mana: The Teardrop Crystal anime trailer. If you turn on subtitles, an English translation is available.
