Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos are two of the selected films that will be featured in the third edition of the Niigata International Animation Film Festival (or NIAFF 2025.) This will be the third edition of the festival, which will be held for 6 days between March 15-20, 2025.

The Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within movie screening is set to happen during the “All Night Niigata” slot of the festival alongside Minipato, Appleseed, and Blue Submarine No 6. The Knights of Sidonia anime movie was also announced to appear in the same slot. Meanwhile, Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos will be screened alongside Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence and the Bones 25: Dreaming Forwards documentary as part of the Event Screening. The timeslots for the movie screenings have yet to be announced.

Released in 2001 and director by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within follows scientist Aki in the year 2065 as the alien threat of the Phantoms slowly eliminates life on Earth. Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos came out on 2011 in Japan following the success of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

The NIAFF 2025 will feature Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos as two of its featured movies. The festival will be held between March 15-20, 2025 in Niigata, Japan.

Megahouse has opened pre-orders for a new batch of the Precious G.E.M. Series figure featuring Ling Yao and Greed from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The company primarily set up the listing on the geo-locked Bandai website. However, Dengeki Hobby Web added that the figure is also available to order via AmiAmi, which s worldwide shipping. This figure depicts Ling Yao, who is being possessed by the homunculus Greed. The non-scale figure set has a total height of around 25 cm (~9.84 inches), with approximately 4 cm for the base and 21 cm for the actual figure.

Megahouse originally released the figure in October 2021 at 18,700 yen. The new restocked batch will appear in late June 2025 with a higher price tag of 22,000 yen (~$139.25).

The price tag for this restocked figure is still lower than several other Fullmetal Alchemist figures revealed in recent years, though. Proof released figure sets of Edward and Alphonse priced at 39,600 yen or almost $300 in 2023, as well as Roy and Maes that costed 61,600 yen or almost $400 in 2024.

The Precious G.E.M. Series figure of Ling Yao and Greed from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood will be available again in late June 2025.

Good Smile Company revealed its Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Winry Rockbell will come with an official store bonus part that lets her hold hands with the earlier Edward Elric figure. It will cost ￥6,900/$40.99 and release in October 2024 in Japan and Q1 2025 in other regions. 

Winry comes with the usual kinds of Nendoroid accessories. She has three face plates, with one neutral expression, one of her smiling and blushing, and a third that shows her ready to decimate anyone in her path. She can use (or wield) a spanner wrench, or carry an apple pie. In addition to the possible part to hold hands with Edward, she comes with a pointing right hand part for him.

Here’s a closer look at the initial photos Good Smile Company shared with all of us of her, as well as with her and the Edward and Alphonse figures.

As for the Edward Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Nendoroid, it might not be too difficult to find one to pair up with Winry to use the special hand part. In addition to an original 2018 release, it appeared in 2020 too. The Nendoroid Doll version of him is expected to launch in November 2024. 

If you do manage to get both, here’s how the two figures will look when “holding hands.”

Castem revealed that it will soon release a drinking cup shaped like Alphonse Elric's helmet in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The Fullmetal Alchemist Cup of Alphonse will also be available to order worldwide.

The helmet cup will be available in Japan with a price tag of 7,920 yen. Castem has also confirmed that it can accept international orders via eBay at $73.53. The company accepts payments via credit cards, debit cards, Google Pay, and PayPal, and it will ship the item around five days after it has received the payment.

The cup will have dimensions of 7x6x5 cm (2.75x2.36x1.96 inches). It will weigh 155 grams (5.46 oz). Castem will use stainless steel with a baking coating finish to produce the miniature helmet, and it will also provide a cup holder made of Angsana hardwood. The helmet must be turned upside down to function as a cup, but the owner can also place it in its original position as a paperweight or decoration.

Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist franchise is still getting a lot of new merchandise revealed in 2024. SuperGroupies revealed watches, jackets, and backpacks inspired by Edward Elric and Roy Mustang in January 2024. Meanwhile, Proof unveiled a combined static figure of Roy Mustang and Maes Hughes in February 2024.

The Fullmetal Alchemist Cup of Alphonse will be formally available on March 5, 2024. The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll. Yen Press handles the digital manga.

Proof revealed a static figure set featuring Roy Mustang and Maes Hughes from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. The set is also available for pre-orders globally via Good Smile Company. People can place orders for the figure set at ¥61,600 / $385.99 / €405.90.

The static figure set will have an overall height of 275 mm (~10.83 inches), which is based on Maes Hughes' standing posture. Since Roy is depicted with a kneeling pose, his figure's height will only be measured as 210 mm (~8.27 inches). The whole set will also have an overall width of 260 mm (~10.24 inches) and depth of 250 mm (~9.84 inches).

This will be the second Fullmetal Alchemist character figure set Proof has worked on. It previously worked on a figure set of the series protagonists Edward and Alphonse Elric, which came out in Japan in November 2023 with a price tag of ¥39,600 (~$292).

Good Smile Company will close pre-orders for Proof's Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Roy Mustang & Maes Hughes -KIZUNA- figure set on May 30, 2024. The company will ship the finished figures to most countries worldwide in December 2024. However, it cannot deliver the figures to Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, and Cuba due to licensing constraints.

As part of the WonHobby 38 announcements, Good Smile Company showed the Winry Rockbell Nendoroid, the Edward Elric Nendoroid Doll, and revealed Ed and Alphonse Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood “Final Episode” Nendoroids. All four are in various stages of development. 

We first learned about the Ed Nendoroid Doll back in November 2023. The version of it that appeared at the event is much farther along in development. It was a fully painted prototype, with the outfit complete as well.

Here’s how that looks:

The Winry figure isn’t as far along along as the Ed doll. She showed up as an unpainted prototype. The preliminary design did confirm she will come with a wrench as one of her accessories.

As for the Final Episode versions of Ed and Al, only concept art appeared alongside the announcements for them. 

There’s no release window yet for the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood Edward, Alphonse, and Winry Nendoroids and Ed Nendoroid Doll, though the Nendoroid Doll looks like it will be the first to appear. The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll. The manga is available via Yen Press.

The Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - The Promised Day board game is now available to pre-order from the North American Square Enix Store. The tabletop game was announced in October 2021 and will release in North America sometime in April 2022. It retails for $54.99. The release is part of the series' 20th-anniversary celebration.

The board game will up to four players ages 13 and up and will take up to 45 minutes to complete. Players will act as popular characters from the series and will work cooperatively to defeat the mannequin soldiers and homunculi to complete the Reverse Transmutation Circle. It is possible to play the game solo, and the game will offer Novice, Hard, and Ultimate difficulty modes.

Square Enix is currently working on a Fullmetal Alchemist mobile game with more information due to be announced before the end of the year. In July, original manga creator Hiromu Arakawa announced a new manga series was in the works. The series, titled Yomi no Tsukai, is slated to debut in Monthly Shonen Gangan on December 10, 2021. It will follow a boy, Yuru, whose quiet life changes when his sister is called to work at a jail inside a mysterious local village, causing her to be locked within.

The Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - The Promised Day board game will be released in the west in April 2022. The game is scheduled to release in Japan on March 26, 2022.

Square Enix has revealed the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood - The Promised Day board game in Japan. This will be the first board game based on the 2009 TV anime show. The company has immediately opened pre-orders for the board game on its Japanese web store. Those in Japan can purchase the set at 4,620 yen (~$40).

The board game will up to four players, with average playtime estimated between 30 and 45 minutes. As implied by the title, the board game will be based on The Promised Day event. All players will cooperate with each other to defeat enemy Homunculi and thwart Father's plans. The set will include 147 cards with illustrations from the Brotherhood anime.

It is currently unknown when people outside Japan can order this board game. However, Square Enix has confirmed that the set will come with four rule books -- each written in Japanese, English, German, and French.

Shonen Gangan has announced that it will host a Fullmetal Alchemist 20th Anniversary Broadcast on July 12, 2021, at 8 PM Japan Time. The pre-recorded broadcast will feature key voice actors, unreleased "new information," and major announcements about the series. You'll be able to watch it on Square Enix's official YouTube , as well as the Shonen Gangan official Twitter.

The special broadcast will feature series voice actors Romi Park and Rie Kugimiya, who voiced Edward and Alphonse Elric, respectively. Additionally, the  broadcast will include a retrospective on the series' past projects, a gift campaign, and important announcements regarding the series.

While it doesn't specify what exactly this information will be, last month Shonen Gangan teased that a new project announcement will be in the magazine's August issue, releasing on the same day. Furthermore, Square Enix also opened a new website specifically for the series' 20th anniversary, though it currently only states the words "Coming Soon..."

Alongside the broadcast announcement, Shonen Gangan also revealed that Fullmetal Alchemist has reached over 80 million copies sold worldwide. The series started publication on July 12, 2001, and ended in 2010, totaling 27 volumes. While there have been plenty of figures and video game crossovers since then, the last major release of the franchise was a live-action movie released in 2017.

The Fullmetal Alchemist 20th Anniversary Broadcast will air on YouTube and Twitter on July 12, 2021, at 8 PM Japan Time.

Prime 1 Studio opened up pre-orders for a high-end statue of Edward and Alphonse Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist. It will release sometime between September and December 2022. There will be two versions of the statue, with one being an original version and another a DX version with multiple parts to customize the statue. The normal version of the Fullmetal Alchemist statue costs $999 and the DX version costs $1,249. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

Both versions of the statue have Edward and Alphonse posing back-to-back over an alchemist circle. With the LED light inside the base, you can make it look like they are using alchemy as they prepare to fight. Aside from the beginning of the stone arches they are creating with their abilities, there are also black arms coming out from the ground that resemble the arms behind the Gate.

The DX version comes with extra parts for the brothers that you can use to pose the statue in different ways. Edward will have two expressions, three right arm parts, and a left arm part for you to customize him. You will only be able to change Alphonse’s right arm in the DX version. Both statues stand at approximately 56 centimeters and weight about 12.8 kilograms.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is currently streaming on websites such as Netflix, Hulu, and Crunchyroll. The original version is also on streaming sites such as Amazon Prime. Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood recently had a collaboration with Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, which gave players the chance to obtain characters such as the Elric brothers and King Bradley. Pre-orders for the statue are currently open and it will ship out sometime in late 2022.

Square Enix announced a Final Fantasy Brave Exvius collaboration with shonen manga and anime series Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood for a limited event. It will start on May 13, 2021 and run until June 2, 2021. During the event’s run, there are log-in bonuses to collect every day. This is a re-run event, as the original Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood collaboration event ran from March 26, 2020 to April 8, 2020.

According to the Final Fantasy Brave Exvius YouTube channel, several limited items and quests based on Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood characters will appear during the event. Roy Mustang and King Bradley-inspired accessories will appear for you to equip your characters with. During the event's run, each free weekly 10 + 1 summon will guarantee at least one unit from this collaboration. Event-exclusive characters are upgraded for the global version. For example, Edward & Alphonse Elric have a Grandis Ability that allows them to boost themselves and allies at the cost of a 50% HP hit.

Aside from the Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood collaboration event, the video also goes into detail about new global content. There will be a boss battle where the goal is to score as high as possible. As well, a new feature called the “morale bar” will appear that will allow you to add buffs or debuffs to customize the battle’s difficulty.

Not only does Final Fantasy Brave Exvius routinely collaborate with existing Final Fantasy properties (such as the Final Fantasy VII Remake event), it also has events like this one where they work with other intellectual properties. For example, earlier this year, there was a collaboration event with NieR: Automata. 

Final Fantasy Brave Exvius is readily available on mobile devices.

Synergy alert! Popular MMORPG MapleStory is going to be receiving special ingame items such as costumes, weapons and character-specific items from Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, as part of a special tie-in.

One example of these trinkets is treasures belonging to the Armstrong family. Gashapon vending machines and point shops within the game will be two places where players can grab these items. A special coupon bundled with the ninth Blu-ray and DVD release of the Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood anime will allow you to unlock even more.

The campaign will kick off on March 31st, with a second phase scheduled for April 26th - May 26th.

Namco Bandai, that is Namco Bandai Games Europe, sent out a batch of media for their Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood game.

This isn’t the RPG based on the manga/Brotherhood series we keep bringing up. Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is the tag team fighting game Japan got last fall. It’s slated for June 2010 in PAL regions with cover art that doesn’t explain much. These screenshots of Edward Elric teaming up with Mustang, Hawkeye, and Alphonse are more informative.

Namco Bandai is localizing Fullmetal Alchemist: Senka wo Takuseshi Mono, a tag team Fullmetal Alchemist fighting game that came out on the PSP last summer. The game will be released by Namco Bandai in Europe under the name Fulllmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

In adventure mode, players control Ed and Alphonse in battles against other alchemist teams. Terrain is important to pay attention to. Ed can conjure a wall to hide behind, but the material it’s made out depends on what you’re standing on. A wall made out of soft dirt is on the left compared to a tough stone wall on the right.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood is scheduled for release in June, but only in Europe. Namco Bandai Games America have not announced plans to publish it at this time.
