A new limited Pokemon Trading Card Game card illustration was drawn by Tetsuo Hara, the artist behind the Fist of the North Star manga series. The Pokemon in question is Irukaman, who is better known in English as Palafin.

Palafin is the evolution of Finizen, both of which debuted in the ninth-generation mainline entries Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. This card will be particularly based on the evolved Pokemon's Hero Form. Tetsuo Hara is depicting the Pokemon performing Hokuto Hyakuretsu Ken, the signature attack of the Fist of the North Star protagonist Kenshiro.

The uniquely illustrated card will have the same in-game parameters as a previous Palafin ex card drawn by PLANETA Mochizuki. This Pokemon will have 340 HP with the ability Hero's Spirit (or Mighty Soul in Japanese), which only allows the card to appear from the effect of Palafin's ability Zero to Hero (or Mighty Change in Japanese). It will also have a Giga Impact attack that requires one Water energy and deals 250 damage, but it will render the Pokemon unable to attack in the player's next turn.

The special Palafin ex card drawn by the Fist of the North Star artist Tetsuo Hara will be part of Pokemon Trading Card Game's high-class pack "Terastal Fes ex." The Pokemon Company will release the booster packs in Japan on December 6, 2024. A worldwide release will follow.

Warner Bros Japan has revealed a key visual for the new Fist of the North Star anime in production. News of the project first appeared in 2023. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

The key visual shows protagonist Kenshiro. However, you can only see him from behind, as he's facing down a horde of enemies. This is a commemorative project to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Fist of the North Star. Warner Bros Japan plans on using the latest animation technology and make a faithful animated adaptation that’ll convey the charm and awesomeness of the original story. There will be a whole new staff and cast. More information on that, as well as the streaming platforms and release dates, will appear later.

Fist of the North Star is a highly influential and popular anime and manga series. It ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 1983 to 1988, and has been collected into a total of 27 tankobon volumes. It takes place in a post-apocalyptic Earth and follows Kenshiro, a warrior who can use the Hokuto Shinken martial art style. “Omae wa mou shindeiru” or “You’re already dead” is a memetic scene that most people have likely seen online, even if they don’t watch or read the series.

Fist of the North Star is in production and more information on it will appear in the future.

Fist of the North Star manga author Tetsuo Hara drew a special illustration of Imperator Furiosa from the Mad Max series of movies ahead of the release of the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga movie. In addition, Warner Bros announced that the illustration will also be featured on the cover of the next issues of the Japanese film magazine Eiga HiHo.

The issue of Eiga HiHo will release in Japan on May 21, 2024. The artwork depicts the character of Furiosa with her iconic buzz cut and prosthetic left arm, while wielding a revolver on her right hand. You can take a better look at the illustration here:

Furthermore, Hara himself offered some words about the film after having watched it in a premiere ahead of its general release. You can read a translation of what Tetsuo Hara had to say about the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga movie here:

“It is great! It was interesting from beginning to end. I have been greatly influenced by director George Miller myself. In 1983, back during the creation of the Fist of the North Star manga, the Mad Max film series was particularly influential to Hara alongside series writer Yoshiyuki "Buronson" Okamura. As a reminder, fans of the apocalyptic martial arts series are in luck, as a new Fist of the North Star anime series was announced on September 2023, to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the manga.

Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is set to release on May 24, 2024 in North America and May 31 in Japan, where it is known as Furiosa: Mad Max.

In commemoration of the manga’s 40th anniversary, a new Fist of the North Star anime has been announced. The show will have a new voice cast and staff working on it. Information regarding when to expect it and whether it will be available on streaming services has yet to be revealed, but will be announced soon. [Thanks, Oricon News!]

When it comes to the direction of the new anime, it’s supposedly planned to follow the manga more closely out of respect for the source material. The new voice actors are also engaging with the existing Fist of the North Star media to get inspiration for reviving the characters. The show is planned to utilize the latest technology in Japanese animation to showcase the story.

The anniversary of Fist of the North Star is celebrated on September 13th each year. It has been 15 years since the release of the fifth movie, which was Fist of the North Star: The Legend of Kenshiro.

Publisher Discotek Media announced two new Fist of the North Star Blu-Ray releases, complete with a new English dub by Sound Cadence studios. The new releases include Fist of the North Star: Legend of the True Savior - Legend of Yuria and Legend of Toki together as a double OVA set. We'll also see Legend of True Saviour - Chapter of Fierce Fighting, which will be available for the first time in English. Neither release currently has a launch date.

The releases were announced during Discotek's Summer Vacation 2023 livestream and crossposted onto the official Twitter . The new dubs feature Robbie Daymond as Kenshiro, Jason Douglas as Raoh, David Wald as Toki and Alexis Tipton as Yuria. The livestream also included a slew of other announcements, including releases of the Japanese version of Medabots Season 2 and a Blu-Ray of Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha Detonation. Discotek has previously licensed shows such as Kamen Rider Black and Urusei Yatsura. The Fist of the North Star Best OST also reappeared on Amazon back in April.

There is currently no release date for Discotek media's Blu-Ray release of Fist of the North Star: Legend of the True Savior - Legend of Yuria / Legend of Toki double OVA, and Legend of True Saviour - Chapter of Fierce Fighting.

Amazon Japan is selling the definitive edition of the Fist of the North Star OST, under the title Best. Originally released on July 19, 2017 in Japan, the Fist of the North Star Best soundtrack album costs 3,080 JPY (roughly $23 USD) and is currently 24% off for 2,336 JPY (~$17 USD). The Fist of the North Star Best OST is a two CD album set, and the soundtrack gathers a total of 65 tracks from the anime adaptation. The album includes all theme songs and insert songs that appeared in the TV version of the anime. Some of the most iconic songs included in the album are the original opening theme and ending themes songs, “Ai o Torimodose” and “Yuria… Eien Ni,”

In other Fist of the North Star news, the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the initial serialization of the manga series in Japan will include an art exhibition. It will be held in Japan on Fall 2023.

An exhibition celebrating the 40th anniversary of the serialization of the Fist of the North Star manga will be held in Japan sometime in Fall 2023. The venue is located at the Mori Arts Center Gallery located in Roppongi Hills, Tokyo. The new Fist of the North Star exhibition recounts the story of conflict and love between the inhabitants of a turbulent post-apocalyptic world set in the late 19th century. The structure of the exhibition will highlight the most popular episodes of the series. Taking pictures of the exhibition and the original artwork will be allowed. Additionally, the venue will offer many photo spots specially designed to share on social media.

Nintendo Switch owners can soon Zankai Ken in their homes. Imagineer announced a Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star release date. People can start getting in shape with characters like Kenshiro and Raoh on March 2, 2023. Ahead of that, a demo is now available worldwide.

The Nintendo eShop page is open for Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star, showing both its release date and trial. It notes it will cost $49.99. It also clarifies that while this is an exercise game, it is a rhythm game as well. It points out the localized version will include 20 songs, including tracks from the series like “Aio Torimodose!!” and “Silent Survivor.”

As people go through this Fitness Boxing entry, there will be additional elements to reference the connections to the Buronson
and Tetsuo Hara series. Most notably, you can take part in Outlaw and Boss Battles in Battle Mode. These are designed to be like boxing matches and fights with rhythm game elements.

The North American and European Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star Switch release date is March 2, 2023, and a demo is available. The game launched in Japan back in December 2022. Viz Media handles the localization of the series’ manga, and the anime is streaming on Crunchyroll.

A raffle for Fist of the North Star whisky will open up on January 16, 2023 in Japan. You will have be able to put in your name for it until January 20, 2023. You can get either a bottle with Toki on it, or a bottle with Jagi on it. The Toki bottle will cost 25,300 JPY ($192.30) whereas the Jagi bottle will cost 26,400 JPY. ($200.65). This is the second batch of Fist of the North Star whisky from Whisky Mew. The first batch came out in 2020 and featured Kenshiro and Raoh. Aside from the labels, the two whiskies are different brands. Toki is a Bunnahabhain 2010 (with an ABV of 51.8%), and Jagi is a Highland Single Malt 2000 (with an ABV of 52.3%).

There is only a limited supply of each whiskey. Whisky Mew has 144 bottles of the Bunnahabhain 2010, and there are 126 bottles of the Highland Single Malt 2000. However, because this is a raffle system, it is not first-come-first-serve. When you put your name into the raffle, you can only purchase one bottle of each type.

The Fist of the North Star whisky will be available for pre-order on January 16-20, 2023. You can put your name and information into the raffle via the Whisky Mew website. Whisky Mew does not ship internationally, and it discourages secondhand selling or using a proxy service. This is so that customers are able to purchase its whiskey at the proper price.

Japanese Switch owners that want to get post-atomic fit can get a taste of the routine. The Japanese eShop now hosts a Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star demo, able by any with a Japanese Nintendo . [Thanks, Famitsu!]

The Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star demo is playable and features two playable boxing instructors. The first is Kenshiro, master of the Hokuto Shinken fighting style and protagonist of the series. Mamiya, the wasteland warrior, is the second instructor. Instructors coach players through the different routines, giving them the rhythm-based cues to punch to.

The demo gives players three days worth of regular gameplay. Being a fitness game, Fitness Boxing typically organizes workouts on a daily routine. The demo for Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star contains a three-day daily training routine, as well as a "fierce battle" stage set up against Shin. Fierce Battle stages set up fights against various goons, and a prominent antagonist from the series. In this case, you can take out some wasteland punks, as well as battle against Shin himself.

Shin is the villain of the first story arc in Fist of the North Star. A successor of the Nanto Koshu Ken style, Shin coveted Kenshiro's wife, Yuria. He attacked and incapacitated Kenshiro, leaving him with seven scars on his chest in the shape of the Big Dipper constellation. Shin then took on the name "King," conquering a part of the wasteland and building Southern Cross City to win Yuria's affection. Kenshiro recovered and set off on a quest for revenge, which is covered in the first volume of the Fist of the North Star manga.

The Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star demo is available on the Japanese Nintendo Switch eShop. The game launches in Japan on December 22, 2022, and globally in March 2023.

The Fitness Boxing Fist of the North Star costumes trailer sets up a wasteland fashion show for the various characters present in the series. They arrive on the runway surrounded by post-atomic bandits. Each one is wearing some of the alternate costumes players can choose for them.

Kenshiro arrives in a gym getup decorated with "Successor" on the front.

Rei, a master of the Nanto Suichoken style, arrives in an outfit emphasizing his affection for his younger sister.

Mamiya, a wasteland warrior, flaunts her post-apocalyptic physique with a pro-wrestling-like outfit accented by metallic rings.

Souther, the successor of the Nanto Hooken style, wears a lightning-accented tracksuit ensemble, emblazoned with his motto: "Never Retreat, Never Beg, and Never Look Back".

Raoh, the Ken-oh himself, shows up wearing a bodybuilder's leotard featuring his famous quote "I have no regrets for the life I lived."

The trailer ends with another one of the Fitness Boxing: Fist of the North Star characters waiting in the wings, though it doesn't reveal who else is in the offering. Whoever they might be, they'll likely be dressed to impress in "The World Ruled by Exercise." (Rather than violence, as the original tagline goes.)

The Ken-oh is coming to pump you up. Raoh, a key villain from Fist of the North Star, is part of the playable roster of Fitness Boxing: Fist of the North Star. Developer Imagineer revealed Raoh in a Fitness Boxing commercial to promote the game in Japan. (There it is known as Fit Boxing: Hokuto no Ken). As announced in September, the game is a spin-off of the Fitness Boxing exercise game series, one that uses characters from Buronson's Fist of the North Star series [Thanks, Game Watch!].

In Fist of the North Star, Raoh is a major antagonist known as the "Ken-oh," or "King of Fists." Like series protagonist Kenshiro, Raoh trained in the ways of the Hokuto Shinken style under master Ryuken. An older honor brother to Kenshiro, Raoh was motivated to become the strongest martial artist in the world. His power frightened master Ryuken, who chose Kenshiro instead as the successor to Hokuto Shinken. Raoh killed Ryuken, leaving the Hokuto temple to fulfill his ambitions. Taking Jagi, another Hokuto brother and Toki, his biological brother, he amassed an army to conquer the wasteland.

Voice actor Tesshou Genda voices Raoh in Fitness Boxing: Fist of the North Star. He's also played characters like Kurama the Nine-Tails in Naruto, Toguro the Younger in YuYu Hakusho, and Kaidou in One Piece. In-game, Raoh appears as an instructor, and can run workouts for players to master their punches. He'll also have costume options, some based on his appearances in Fist of the North Star, and others inspired by modern gymwear and wrestling clothes.

The Nintendo Switch will have a new fitness game where people can train with Kenshiro and other characters from Fist of the North Star. The September 2022 Nintendo Direct stream revealed Fitness Boxing: Fist of the North Star. As the title implies, this game will have characters from the classic manga series, with a focus on the title's protagonist Kenshiro.

The fitness game will have Daily and Free training sessions where Kenshiro acts as an instructor for the player. However, the Fist of the North Star edition will also add a new Battle Mode. The player will embody Kenshiro as he tries to fight thugs that ruin other people's lives in the post-apocalyptic world. This mode will also feature boss fights against the series' notable rivals, such as Jagi and Raoh.

Fitness Boxing: Fist of the North Star appeared on both the Japanese and American Nintendo Direct streams. However, Imagineer also published a new website and trailer dedicated to the game. While the website is also available in English, this title will be known in Japan as Fit Boxing: Hokuto no Ken - Omae wa Mou Yaseteiru. The additional subtitle is a reference to the famous "You are already dead" quote, which translates to "You are already losing weight."

Veteran animator, director, and character designer Masami Suda died at age 77. According to Nikkan Sports, the animator had reportedly ed away on August 1, 2021. Fellow animator Hisashi Kagawa, among many other figures in the anime industry, offered their condolences via social media. [Thanks, Nikkan!]

Born in 1943, Suda was one of many animators that worked in the industry during anime's rising popularity in 1960s Japan. His first project was working on the original Speed Racer at Tatsunoko Productions in 1967. Later, he would go on to work on other prominent children's shows such as Gatchaman and The Genie Family, mixing between freelance and working at Toei.

Eventually, Suda would go on to work as a character designer and director on Fist of the North Star. A few years later, he also worked on other notable series such as SLAM DUNK, the Speed Racer remake, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and the Viewtiful Joe anime as animation director. Up until 2014, Suda worked as a character designer in the Yokai Watch anime.

Many prominent animators who previously worked under Suda came out to offer condolences after his death. In addition to Kagawa, Kenji Yokoyama stated that "Suda was someone [he] looked up to and aspired to be." Rumiko Tezuka, the Tezuka Production representative director and daughter of prominent manga artist Osamu Tezuka, also stated that she grew up watching Suda's work, and she "respects and offers condolences to the life that created such multi-generational characters and art."
