In honor of the Fire Emblem series’ 35th anniversary, Nintendo added Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack hip tier. NSO can also access the Fire Emblem Engage soundtrack in the Nintendo Music app on mobile devices as part of the celebration.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones maybe the eighth game, but many people might it as only the first or second one they played. This is because the first worldwide release was Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade for the GBA, released outside Japan as just Fire Emblem, and this was the second. You can go through two storylines, with each campaign following one of the twin siblings Prince Ephraim and Princess Eirika of Renais. Once you get through one, there is also an unlockable Creature Campaign.

Here’s the trailer for the Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones NSO release that shows the game running on the Switch.

Here’s the official announcement bringing up the Fire Emblem Engage soundtrack coming to the NSO Nintendo Music app. The trailer included clips from the songs “Emblem Engage,” “Engage,” and “On Day Patrol, Divine One.”

In addition to these two additions to celebrate the Fire Emblem series 35th anniversary, Intelligent Systems ran events in Fire Emblem Heroes. There have been daily rerun banners with free pulls, campaigns with currencies, bonus items, and banner tickets, special banners, and a new banner that features an Attuned Hero version of Tiki from Fire Emblem: Mystery of the Emblem.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones is available on the GBA and on the Switch via Nintendo Switch Online. Fire Emblem Engage is on the Switch. Fire Emblem Heroes is on mobile devices. Nintendo Switch Online is $19.99 for a one-year standard hip and $49.99 for a one-year hip with the Expansion Pack.

Fire Emblem Heroes Gets Engage Characters Ivy, Hortensia, Mauvier

More Fire Emblem Engage characters are ing Fire Emblem Heroes, with Ivy, her sister Hortensia, their retainers Kagetsu and Rosado, and Mauvier being added to the game. While four are part of a new banner available on February 19, 2024, Mauvier will be a Grand Hero Battle reward on February 20, 2024.

New characters from the Switch game have trickled out in the mobile game since its launch. Most notable are Hortensia and Ivy. Hortensia’s Arcane Charmer staff can be inherited by another unit, while still keeping her, due to her being a Rearmed unit. Meanwhile, Ivy is the new Attuned character, which means she has a Soaring Echo x skill another unit can inherit without losing her that allows infantry and flying units to move near her.

Here’s the trailer showing off all four new units appearing on the banner. While all four characters are available at five-stars, Kagetsu is also available as a four-star.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hq8VlqJ3U1M&ab_channel=NintendoMobile

As Mauvier is a Grand Hero Battle unit, we don’t know much about his fight yet. However, it will be available for a limited time starting on February 20, 2024. Winning it will give people three-star and four-star versions of the character.

Fire Emblem Heroes is available for mobile devices, and the new Engage characters banner is live now. Fire Emblem Engage is available on the Nintendo Switch.

fire emblem engage merchandise

Empty opened up pre-orders for its second round of merchandise based on Fire Emblem Engage characters. You’ll be able to get acrylic stands, keyholders, and can badges. [Thanks, Fire Emblem JP!]

The items will come out in March 2024 and you can order them via Empty’s official website. Though Empty has released similar merchandise for Fire Emblem Engage in the past, these feature new characters that weren’t in the first wave. For example, you’ll be able to get keychains of the three Fire Emblem: Three Houses lords, or an acrylic standee of Ivy.

The full list of prices is:

  • Acrylic standees: 1980 JPY each
  • Acrylic keychains: 880 JPY each
  • Square can badges: 550 JPY each

Empty and Nintendo first released Fire Emblem Engage goods together back in February 2023. The line-up was more or less the same. However, back then it also offered a tapestry of the game’s cover art. Though from Takara Tomy instead of Empty, there will also be Emblem Rings that you can purchase in real life. These rings will appear in gashapon machines in Japan from early 2024.

Fire Emblem Engage is readily available on the Nintendo Switch. Empty will release its second wave of Fire Emblem Engage items from March 2024.

Fire Emblem Engage Rings to appear as capsule toys in Japan

The Emblem Rings from Fire Emblem Engage will appear in real life. Takara Tomy Arts will release the Fire Emblem Engage Emblem Ring Engage Collection as capsule toys inside gashapon machines in Japan in early 2024. [Thanks, Dengeki Hobby Web!]

As these rings are set to appear as capsule toys, people will be able to obtain them randomly by paying just 300 yen (~$2) for a single try. The rings will have a diameter of 2.2 cm (~0.87 inches) and be made with zinc alloy and metallic coating. Each ring will also be chained with a paper tag featuring the Fire Emblem Engage logo.

Volume 2 will follow later in late February 2024, and it will complete the roster with Lyn, Lucina, Ike, Byleth, Corrin, and Eirika's rings.

Fire Emblem Engage is immediately available worldwide on Nintendo Switch. The game had over 1.6 million units sold within the first two months after release between January 20, 2023, and March 31, 2023. The Fire Emblem Engage Emblem Ring Engage Collection will appear in gashapon machines across Japan in January-February 2024.

siliconera switch game of the year 2023

This year’s Siliconera Switch Game of the Year contest may have been the toughest competition since the console’s 2017 debut, with a lineup of stellar first-party releases accompanied by some surprise third-party entrants. What’s the winner? You can probably guess! But all of our Switch Game of the Year 2023 selections got here by beating out some truly impressive titles.

These awards represent the consensus of the Siliconera staff. For more of the year’s award selections, check out our Game of the Year 2023 archive.

Fire Emblem Engage 1o3r3x

Strategy players love to min-max, and it seems developers like that as well sometimes! Following the watered-down gameplay and excellent characters of Three Houses, Engage pushes the slider all the way to “mechanics” and delivers some of the best maps and combat systems in the franchise’s history. Story? Characters? Toothpaste hair? Uh, we don’t need to talk about those. Engage instead offers something more like Fates’ customization-focused tactical playground, and there’s a lot of fun in that approach.

Master Detective Archives: Rain Code 4g1z6x

It may not be Danganronpa in name, but Master Detective Archives: Rain Code sure does feel like its creators’ previous popular franchise. It’s got a similar look and feel, and the gameplay sure is about similar investigative techniques! Don’t get us wrong: this isn’t a complaint. It’s just very possible that Danganronpa fans might have overlooked this one, and… if that’s you, reader, you should probably get on it!

Siliconera Game of the Year Winner: The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 6k38a

There were worries from some that Tears of the Kingdom’s reuse of Breath of the Wild Hyrule would make the game feel stale. Instead, it served as a base for a massively expanded world and all sorts of new-power hijinks. We know the Zelda franchise doesn’t do sequels often, but they seem to unlock an extra level of creativity from the team and we love to see them at least occasionally. It has its flaws — we’re looking at you, Lizalfos Tail drop rate — but we won’t forget our time with Tears of the Kingdom for quite a while. Congratulations, Switch Game of the Year 2023!
