Nelke Planning announced that a musical adaptation of Fate/Zero, “A Hero of Justice,” will appear in Tokyo in September 2025. This is a sequel of “The Sword of Promised Victory,” and it’ll conclude the Fate/stay night prequel. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

The first half of the Fate/Zero musical ended after they defeated Caster, so “A Hero of Justice” will focus on the battles between the remaining Servants and Masters. People who watched the show should be familiar with the way that Nelke Planning split up the story, as ufotable also ended the first season of Fate/Zero during the showdown against Caster.

All the cast and staff who worked on the first half of the musical series will return for “A Hero of Justice.” Gen Urobuchi (Psycho-, Puella Magi Madoka Magica), who wrote the original light novel series, will supervise the script. Meanwhile, Hideyuki Nishimori (Persona 5 the Stage, musical version of Moriarty the Patriot) will handle the script, lyrics, and staging.

Fate/Zero “A Hero of Justice” will appear in Tokyo theaters in September 2025. You can catch the first half, “The Sword of Promised Victory,” on DMM TV, and the Blu-Rays and DVDs will come out on July 30, 2025. As for the anime adaptation of Fate/Zero, it’s available on streaming services like Crunchyroll.

The ufotable X (formerly known as Twitter) has posted a video to celebrate the 13-year anniversary of the Fate/Zero anime adaptation. The show stared airing on October 1, 2011.

The video in question is actually the teaser from that faraway time known as 2011. You can watch it both on YouTube and on X. It starts with a voiceover of Saber asking if Kiritsugu is her master, before a rather long sequence of credits and the 3D animation of the summoning circle being drawn. Then, it shows clips of the main characters, both Servants and Masters. Even Rin, who only made a brief cameo in the show, appeared, likely due to fans already being familiar with her from Fate/stay night.

Fate/Zero is a prequel to the original Fate/stay night visual novel, with Gen Urobuchi as the writer. Urobuchi’s known for his work on Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Saya no Uta, and Psycho-. He's also working on platformer Rusty Rabbit. The story takes place during the Fourth Holy Grail War and focuses heavily on both Kiritsugu and Kirei, as well as their Servants Saber and Archer. Iskandar and Waver are also major players, though they're mostly separate from Kiritsugu and Kirei's drama. Many fans and critics enjoyed Fate/Zero for its story and characters, and it's one of the more popular series in the Fate franchise.

Fate/Zero is available to stream on Crunchyroll. At the end of the Tweet, ufotable also reminds viewers that Japanese television is re-running Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works, which is available to stream via Crunchyroll.

A musical adaptation of Fate/Zero will appear on stages in January and February 2025, with performances set to take place in Tokyo and Osaka. Urobuchi Gen, who wrote the original light novel series, will be the one to supervise the script.

Though there aren’t a lot of details about the Fate/Zero musical at the moment, we do have a key visual. It depicts Saber from the back, showing her at the Battle of Camlann. She’s standing in a field littered with corpses and swords, and you can’t see her expression. Aside from Urobuchi, we also know that Hideyuki Nishimori is the scriptwriter and producer. Nishimori previously worked on the stage play and musical adaptations for Persona 5 and Danganronpa 3. Outside of video game adaptations, he’s worked on many stage shows since he entered the industry in the late 1990’s.

As mentioned earlier, there’s not much else information out. So far, the website only depicts the key visual and staff. At the bottom of the page, there’s a big Coming Soon in front of the incantation for summoning a Servant, as well as Kiritsugu’s Command Seals.

Fate/Zero is a light novel series that ran from 2006 to 2007, and it was written by Gen Urobuchi to serve as a prequel to Fate/stay night. Urobuchi is a writer who’s known for his work on Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Psycho-, and Saya no Uta. He's also working on platformer Rusty Rabbit. Fate/Zero takes place a decade prior to the events of Fate/stay night, covering the Fourth Holy Grail War. Ufotable released an anime adaptation of it that ran from 2011 to 2012.
