The Fate/Samurai Remnant soundtrack will appear on streaming sites from September 26, 2024. The physical version of the CDs came out in March 2024. [Thanks, KaroshiMyriad!]

In total, there are 89 tracks over the course of four disks. This includes the full version of “Zanya Gensou feat. LICCA,” which serves as the main theme song for the game. When people purchase the physical version of the OST, they also receive a serial code that’ll let them the five DLC tracks. The streamed versions will also include those DLC tracks.

Here is a video from earlier this year that gives a sample of the soundtrack:

Fate/Samurai Remnant came out in late September 2023 and featured an original story. In it, you play as Miyamoto Iori, who finds himself wrapped up in the Waxing Moon Ritual, which is a derivative of the Holy Grail War. He, along with his Servant Saber, fight not only to win, but also to prevent casualties that occur as a result of the war. The game was a hack ‘n’ slash as a result of Koei Tecmo working on it, though it also had open-world exploration elements.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. The soundtrack for Fate/Samurai Remnant will appear on streaming sites and services from September 26, 2024.

fate/samurai remnant manga

A manga adaptation of Fate/Samurai Remnant is in the works. It’ll also include comments from creators who worked on the DLC characters. [Thanks, Comptiq!]

There’s not a lot of information on when the manga will come out yet. However, we know that Mugetsu will be the artist. Mugetsu is an illustrator who has provided artwork for Craft Essences in Fate/Grand Order. As well, they worked on other spin-offs of the property, including the comic book version of Fate/Grand Order: Holy Grail Front.

https://twitter.com/comptiq/status/1828734914617028743

Fate/Samurai Remnant is an original Fate property that was a collaborative effort between Kou Shibusawa and Koei Tecmo. It focuses on the historical figure Miyamoto Iori, who becomes a Master in the Waxing Moon Ritual, which is a derivative of the Holy Grail War. He ends up summoning Saber. The story focuses on the ritual, the allies and enemies Iori makes, and his growing bond with Saber. Since there are multiple endings for the game, time will tell which one the manga follows. It may also have its own original ending that’s not from the game.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC. More information on when to expect the manga adaptation of Fate/Samurai Remnant will come out in the near future.

See the Fate/Samurai Remnant Saber Nendoroid Prototype `

Good Smile Company offered an update on the Fate/Samurai Remnant Saber Nendoroid by sharing a picture of the unpainted prototype on social media. There’s still no release window for it, however.

Due to the identity of this Saber character being one of the game’s mysteries, they are only referred to as that to avoid spoilers. It is shown with a smiling face and wearing a standard outfit. There is a sword in its sheath on the back, suggesting the full figure will come with one the character can also wield. The Japanese version of the announcement also noted it is on display at the Fate/Samurai Remnant Collaboration event in Motto Cafe in Japan.

Here is how the Fate/Samurai Remnant Saber Nendoroid prototype looks alongside a screenshot of the character from the game.

Since the Fate/Samurai Remnant’s launch, we’ve seen quite a bit of DLC for the game. For example, The Record’s Fragment: Keian Command Championship DLC pack appeared in February 2024 and focused on Gilgamesh.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC. The Saber Nendoroid is in development, and there is no release window for the figure yet.

fate/samurai remnant dlc

A new trailer for the first DLC of Fate/Samurai Remnant appeared, with Ibuki-Douji taking the main stage. The DLC “Record’s Fragment: Keian Command Championship” will come out on February 9, 2024.

You can watch the trailer here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NOE8StiXRMo

The trailer starts with setting the stage. Gilgamesh has organized a competition for all Masters and Servants to participate in. You’ll be able to play as the other Master teams aside from Iori and Saber, with them interacting with each other and fighting each other in a tournament. Ibuki then shows up as an enemy.

For this DLC, there will be multiple endings depending on the Master/Servant duo you chose, and Gilgamesh will also appear as an ally. You will also be able to play as Ibuki in the DLC. Fate/Samurai Remnant Gilgamesh DLC

The first DLC for Koei Tecmo and Omega Force's Fate/Samurai Remnant is set to launch on February 9, 2024, unleashing Gilgamesh and his Keian Command Championship on the masters of Edo. The DLC was originally announced back in late December 2023.

Gilgamesh is a staple in the Fate franchise and shows up as a ing character in Fate/Samurai Remnant, though he first appeared all the way back in the original Fate/Stay Night. Details are light on the new DLC, but what we do know is that the King of Heroes is holding a tournament of his own and will be compelling the masters and servants of the Waxing Moon ritual to take part. A certain amount of story progress will be required to play the DLC, but how much exactly is unknown.

The DLC is the first of 3 included with the game's season , with the other two expected in July and September 2024. The season is also included with the game's deluxe edition, although Koei Tecmo stated that the DLC episodes will be available for purchase individually at a later date, minus the season bonuses.

Back in January 2024, Koei Tecmo released a Fate/Samurai Remnant demo version allowing players to try the introductory segment before buying. Around the same time, mobile game Fate/Grand Order made Samurai Remnant's playable Saber available to pull for in its servant gacha.

The Record's Fragment: Keian Command Championship DLC pack for Fate/Samurai Remnant featuring Gilgamesh, will launch on February 9, 2024. The game itself is readily available on the PC, PS4, PS5, and Nintendo Switch.

Fate/Samurai Remnant 1st DLC

Koei Tecmo and Omega Force released a trailer for the first DLC pack for Fate/Samurai Remnant. The DLC will be called Record's Fragment: Keian Command Championship and is set to release sometime in February 2024.

The trailer features Gilgamesh, King of Heroes and textile wholesaler, announcing that he "seized control over [the] fates" of various masters and servants from the game. Details are sparse but he seems to be holding a kind of formal tournament variation on the Waxing Moon ritual. We will also have to wait and see whether this DLC story will be set concurrently with the main Fate/Samurai Remnant story or exist as separate, alternate timeline-type situation.

Gilgamesh is a recurring servant in the Fate franchise based on the historical Babyolonian king of the same name, appearing in the original Fate/Stay Night visual novel as a potential antagonist. In Fate/Samurai Remnant he appears as a rogue Ruler class servant running a shop in Edo called 'Babyloni-ya".

You can watch the trailer via Youtube below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWXuxfGqy44

Fate/Samurai Remnant released back in September, 2023, with a recent update adding a Battle Recollection mode that makes several rogue and enemy servants playable. The game's early development and designs were also discussed by illustrators Takashi Takeuchi and Rei Wataru in an interview with Famitsu in October.

The first volume of DLC for Fate/Samurai Remnant is available as part of the season and will release in February 2024. The base game is readily available for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5.

siliconera pc game of the year 2023

Most games these days appear on the PC, but to be a truly great PC game, it really has to take advantage of what the platform can do. That’s been a tougher task than ever in 2023, with the rise of handhelds like the Steam Deck challenging the expectations of how a PC game should look, control and perform. These three games, though, stood above the rest.

These awards represent the consensus of the Siliconera staff. For more of the year’s award selections, check out our Game of the Year 2023 archive.

Star Ocean: The Second Story R 6r5w2q

This remake of an RPG classic puts its own spin on the “HD-2D” idea, retaining the nostalgia of tri-Ace’s PS1 original but with a new sort of look. And if you know, you know, but The Second Story R is a great opportunity for the tons of players who missed the game the first two times to see what makes it so special. After the last, you know, decade or two that the franchise has had, it’s refreshing to see it revisit its more successful past.

Fate/Samurai Remnant 2e59

Wait, wait, don’t scroll past just yet! We know the daunting reputation the Fate franchise has to new players. Fate/Samurai Remnant’s musou-like action is wrapped in a story that’s standalone enough to be approachable without knowledge of any lore, and… we did just say it’s musou-like, yeah? So if you wanted to give Fate a shot but were intimidated before, maybe start here.

Siliconera PC Game of the Year Winner: Baldur’s Gate III 165c60

It’s tough to follow in the footsteps of an all-time classic, and even tougher when the intervening decades put nostalgia-tinted goggles on players’ expectations. Larian, though? Larian was building to this opportunity. Baldur’s Gate III puts the systems and ideas of the studio’s Divinity: Original Sin games together with the huge, established D&D world and the backing to put a ton of effort into every area and system. The result is as impressive and engaging as you’d expect. Baldur's Gate III is our PC Game of the Year 2023!

Fate/Samurai Remnant playable Servants

Koei Tecmo will add a new update to Fate/Samurai Remnant make Rogue Servants or Servants belonging to other Masters playable when reminiscing on past story battles. There will also be new difficulty modes. [Thanks, KaroshiMyriad!]

There is no information yet as to when to expect this update. While Fate/Samurai Remnant grants you control of characters such as Archer and Lancer, these battles are story-locked and they were not always playable. After a certain point in the game, you could unlock the function to replay story battles. However, even then, you could only use Saber and Iori. After the update, you’ll be able to play as both Rogue Servants and Servants that belong to other Masters.

As for the two new difficulty modes, it'll be Easy and Hard. Easy Mode will be for players who only wish to enjoy the story. Meanwhile, Hard Mode forbids the usage of items, and you won’t be able to Retry if you lose.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is a spin-off of the main Fate series, putting the player in control of Miyamoto Iori. It’s a combination of Koei Tecmo’s usual hack and slash musou style, but with more of an emphasis on parrying and dodging. You can also level up Iori and Saber, as well as Rogue Servants, with a skill system. The story follows Iori after he becomes a Master in the Waxing Moon Ritual, which is a variant of the usual Holy Grail War. WIth Saber, he must face off against rivals and enemy Servants, who are all historical or legendary figures.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch. The new update to play as Rogue and enemy Servants when you reflect on past story battles will come some time in the future.

Fate/Samurai Remnant interview

In an interview with Famitsu, developers from Koei Tecmo and illustrators Takashi Takeuchi and Rei Wataru discussed the early development and character designs of Fate/Samurai Remnant. In the discussion, Takeuchi revealed that Tamamo Aria’s inclusion was because they wanted to debut the Tamamo Nine characters one at a time in various games. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

Kou Shibusawa, a producer and creator at Koei Tecmo Games, wanted to make a Fate game with Type-Moon due to his love for Fate/Grand Order. He is a big fan of the Shimosa chapter. Takeuchi stated that a Shimosa-like setting would be ideal if Type-Moon and Koei Teco would make a game together, so they created Fate/Samurai Remnant with Shimosa as the foundation.

Since the game takes place during the Edo era, Wataru had to design the Masters to fit into that worldview. For reference, Wataru was the artist in charge of the manga adaptation of Shimosa. He stated that deg Iori was very difficult and that he initially looked like a Warriors character with a fancy outfit. But the development team wanted him to look like someone who’d fit in with the scenery of Edo, Japan. Saber, too, was a challenge for Wataru. Her concept was a black-haired Artoria, but he included elements from other Saberfaces. In the end, Saber has much sharper features than the original Artoria.

Yet another character that Takeuchi and Wataru having difficulties deg was Archer. He reveals his True Name quite early in the game, but he’s a character that fans of Dynasty Warriors should be familiar with.

The inclusion of his character was to make fans feel like, “Ah, yes, I’m playing a Koei Tecmo game.” When Shidzuki Morii (Archer’s artist) gave Takeuchi the design, Takeuchi was surprised. This is because the version of Archer that appears in Dynasty Warriors isn’t this young. But he thought that this sort of juxtaposition was very Fate-like and approved the design.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is available on the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.

Following the original Fate/Stay Night visual novel's debut in 2004, the series has since grown into an expansive universe spanning countless games and spin-off titles. With the recent release of Fate/Samurai Remnant in 2023, we wanted to discuss what our favorite projects are in the long-running franchise. Here are the Fate/series games we would personally recommend.

Emiya Gohan hands down. I always found some Fate stories, especially Stay Night, can end up muddying up its overarching plot with the more goofy slice-of-life stuff, but this one lets them lean into it fully, and it pays off. What is lost in of drama, lore, or what have you, is more than made up for by seeing Cu Chulainn's part-time job or Sasaki Kojiro enjoying an exquisitely made bacon sandwich. I like the musou-style Extella games a lot, too, and pretty much anything featuring Nero, but Emiya Gohan takes (and bakes!) the cake in the end for me. I still chop carrots in the style they use in one episode. -- Elliot

As a Musou/Warriors connoisseur, the Fate/Extella games immediately caught my highest level of interest. I had long dreamed of a game where I control Servants like Artoria or Cu Chulainn to mow up tons of enemies and wrap everything up with their Noble Phantasms. The Extella games delivered exactly that. The Umbral Star also had very touching stories, and I actually shed a tear at Altera route's ending. But the most surprising thing is that these games were made by Marvelous instead of Koei Tecmo. So, I can't wait to finally get around to diving into Fate/Samurai Remnant to see the latter's response. -- Kite

Fate/Samurai Remnant is the latest game to release in the franchise and is now available on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC.

Fate/Samurai Remnant review header

As a Fate fan who desperately wants her friends to also get into the series, I am eternally frustrated at the Kingdom Hearts-like reputation it has. For people such as myself, Fate/Samurai Remnant is a savior. With a satisfying yet simple story, familiar setting, and a cast of both new and veteran characters, it serves as a fantastic gateway game while also standing on its own as a legitimate action game.

Fate/Samurai Remnant follows Miyamoto Iori, the adopted son and apprentice of Miyamoto Musashi. He finds himself wrapped up in the Waxing Moon Ritual—something similar to the Holy Grail War ritual from Fuyuki—in which seven Masters and their seven Servants duke it out in a battle royale for the Waxing Moon. The Waxing Moon can grant the winner any wish. Iori meets allies such as an alternate version of his master, Berserker, and Zheng Chenggong, who is a mage from China and the Master of Archer. However, as the Ritual progresses, things aren’t all that they seem. Between Rogue Servants, foreign mages, and hostile onmyoji, there’s more to the Waxing Moon Ritual than meets the eye.

Fate is one of those series where those with only a ing knowledge think it’s far more complicated than it actually is. The only reason it seems so is because fans of it have a tendency to explain everything about the different timelines and properties, rather than stick to a single one. Fate/Samurai Remnant is fairly simple in of its story. In fact, if you know anything about Japanese mythology and the time period it’s set in, there are a lot of twists that you can see coming. That’s not a bad thing, of course! It doesn't bombard the player with lots of Nasuverse terminology, while still having enough shout-outs for veteran fans to giggle at. The usage of familiar faces for the Rogue Servants was a good middle ground for both factions. They don’t feel so intrusive that they take the spotlight away from the original characters.

In my preview for Fate/Samurai Remnant, I noted that Iori and Saber have a very similar relationship to Shirou and Saber from Fate/stay Night. Well, like Ryota Matsushita said in our interview for the game, I was completely off the mark the more I played. It was a nice change of pace, and both of them shine in their own way. It made me appreciate them for who they are, rather than as expies of those two. For better or for worse, Iori is a very inoffensive protagonist who is easy to like, but can be a tad boring. Imagine Shirou if Shirou was just a normal and sane guy. That’s basically Iori. Watching his and Saber’s relationship develop was really fun though.

However, my favorite part of Fate/Samurai Remnant was in its Digressions. These are side stories for the Rogue Servants or other Master-Servant pairs where you get to learn a bit more about them. Sometimes it’s a shame, though! What we see of Takao Dayu and Berserker, as well as Zheng Chenggong and Archer, kind of make me want an entire game just about those two pairs. Hopefully, we can see more of them in the future, either as DLC or as playable characters in Fate/Grand Order. I waited years and put over $300 into Fate/Grand Order for Charlemagne after Fate/Extella Link. I’m willing to do the same for Archer.

The story and the characters for Fate/Samurai Remnant are, in my opinion, the strongest points of the game. But even though I’m not the biggest fan of Koei Tecmo action games, I have to say that the team managed to create a really balanced battle system. It’s simple, because it mostly follows the Musou hack’n’slash formula. However, when you’re fighting against certain monsters and Servants, button mashing will make the game a lot harder than it is. It’s super rewarding to master timing your dodge to use Riposte, especially against certain Servants who have an incredibly fast and wide hit box. Though it’s not as flashy as you’d expect, the Afterglow mechanic was also lots of fun to explore, even if I only ever used a few stances and Afterglow effects in boss fights.

As a quick explanation, Iori can switch between multiple stances on the fly in battle. After spending enough time in a stance, Iori will shine with Afterglow, in which he will gain specific bonuses after switching to another stance. For example, Water Stance’s Afterglow increases his attack speed, which pairs perfectly well with slow but powerful stances like Earth Stance or Fire Stance. Switching stances based on what Afterglow you want and what enemies you’re dealing with can really help you gain an edge in battle. But the game is still perfectly winnable even if you don’t care about all of that. It’s the perfect mix of easy and challenging that makes Fate/Samurai Remnant an accessible action game on top of a good baby’s first Fate.

By setting the story in real life and in a time period that most players are familiar with, Fate/Samurai Remnant presents its fantastical plot in a grounded reality. It doesn’t bring anything new to the table in of gameplay or story. But when you’re making a musou game based on an IP with an established setting and lore, simplicity is the best answer. Even though I finished the game, I’m still looking forward to seeing Iori and the others in future DLC, and hopefully, in Grand Order.

Fate/Samurai Remnant is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch.
