Arc System Works has revealed Double Dragon Dodgeball as a new spin-off game for the long-running beat 'em up game series. The company added that it will release this game as an exclusive bonus for all pre-orders of Double Dragon Revive.

This bonus game will be available with 16-bit style graphics, and it will play similarly to the Dodge Ball video games that are part of the Kunio / River City series. The game will also have three available game modes.

The first one will be Story Mode, where the player will follow the Lee brothers in their journey to rescue the kidnapped Marian just like in the original belt-scrolling action games. There will also be a Versus mode, where players can choose from 56 playable characters. The third and last mode will be Survival mode, which can also multiplayer with up to four players.

Arc System Works has also ed an official introduction trailer for Double Dragon Dodgeball on its YouTube channel:

Double Dragon Revive will be available for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on October 23, 2025. People who have pre-ordered the game will also be able to get Double Dragon Dodgeball as an exclusive bonus.

The latest trailer for Double Dragon Revive revealed that Marian and Yagyu Ranzo will be playable characters in the final game. This is alongside the series’ usual duo of Billy and Jimmy Lee.

Here's the new trailer, which highlights how both characters will work:

Marian was originally a damsel in distress character in the original Double Dragon, and had to be rescued by the Lee brothers. However, more recent games have pushed her into a more active role, with this being her second time in the series as a playable character after Double Dragon Gaiden. She was also playable in River City Girls 2. Marian’s Double Dragon Revive moveset is full of fast kick moves, including a dive kick from midair and a rising kick that launches enemies.

Yagyu Ranzo is a ninja character who ed the Lee brothers in home versions of Double Dragon III after he is defeated as a boss. Since then, he also appeared as a playable character in Double Dragon IV and Double Dragon Gaiden. As a ninja, his Double Dragon Revive move set features heavy use of his sword. Speed and evasion look like key components of his playstyle, as a few teleportation moves are shown off in the trailer. He can also make use of fire breath and lightning magic.

Double Dragon Revive is the latest game in the long-running side-scrolling brawler series. While the latest entry will feature the same style of gameplay as past games, it now features full 3D visuals. Double Dragon Revive is currently confirmed to have two-player co-op, although it’s unknown if the reveal of Marian and Yagyu means that more players can . It’s being developed by Yuke’s, best known for their wrestling games, and published by Arc System Works.

Double Dragon Revive is set to release in 2025 for PS5, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC.

Arc System Works has published a new Double Dragon Revive trailer to help promote the game's playable demo at TGS 2024. The company has also announced the Japanese voice actors for some of the characters who will appear in the game. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

The new video expands further from the Double Dragon Revive reveal trailer in July 2024 by showing off more actions by the Lee brothers. It also introduces more new boss characters, including the two female bosses Anh and Minh.

While Revive will also have an English voiceover option, Arc System Works first revealed the Japanese voice actors who will voice some of the game's characters. The most notable ones are Kazuyuki Okitsu and Takehito Koyasu as the protagonists Billy and Jimmy. The two are also well-known for their roles in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure as Jonathan Joestar and Dio Brando, respectively.

Arc System Works has confirmed its appearance at the Tokyo Game Show 2024 by opening a new official webpage. It revealed that there will be playable demos of three games, including Double Dragon Revive, at the Arc System Works TGS 2024 booth.

The full list of games that will have demo builds at the event comprises Double Dragon Revive, the Nintendo Switch port of Guilty Gear Strive, and River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next. The latter is an sequel to the Chinese Three Kingdoms-based spinoff of the River City series, which Arc System Works will release simultaneously worldwide on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam on November 7, 2024. Those who visit the booth and play the demos will be able to receive memorabilia based on each title.

Arc System Works will also hold talk show events at its booth. It will cover Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes in addition to the above three titles. People who cannot attend TGS 2024 in person will be able to watch live streams of the talk shows on the company's official YouTube and Twitch channels.

In addition, the company will set up a goods shop at Sanwa Denshi's booth in the TGS 2024 merchandise area. The lineup will have items featuring Guilty Gear Strive's post-launch characters. Prices will range from 1,200 yen (~$8.40) for Omamori charms to 2,000 yen (~$14) for acrylic stands.

Tokyo Game Show 2024 will take place at Makuhari Messe on September 26-29, 2024. Arc System Works will place its TGS 2024 game demo booth and merchandise shop in Halls 8 and 11, respectively.

Arc System Works has formally revealed Double Dragon Revive by publishing its official website and trailer. Following an early reveal in the Weekly Famitsu magazine, the company confirmed that the new game will be available simultaneously worldwide in 2025.

This new game will bring back the classic belt-scrolling beat 'em up game with a modern 3D presentation. Like most of the prior series entries, players will take the roles of the martial artists William "Billy" Lee and James "Jimmy" Lee. The game will be playable in both single-player and two-player co-op; both characters will appear simultaneously in the latter.

The Steam page reveals that Yuke's, the development studio best known for wrestling games like WWE 2K19 and AEW Fight Forever, is working on this new game. It also hinted that the game will have an online mode with in-game chat.

The page also shows that Double Dragon Revive will be available with voiceovers in Japanese and English. It will also have additional subtitle options in French, Italian, German, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese.

According to the latest issue of weekly magazine Famitsu, Double Dragon Revive will be the next title in the long running beat ‘em up franchise. The game will feature 3D graphics and is expected to release in 2025 for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC. [Thanks, ryokutya2089!]

The new Double Dragon game was first reported by leaker ryokutya2089. The game is reportedly being developed by Arc System Works. Protagonist brother duo Billy and Jimmy Lee and recurring series enemies Roper and Abobo will receive revamped designs in a new “stylish 3D” art style. In addition, the game’s classic control scheme and difficulty level have been adjusted for modern gaming standards.

As a reminder, the latest title in the series to release is Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons, which appeared for current and last gen platforms and PC back in July 27, 2023, and featured roguelite elements. The game received the Sacred Reunion free able expansion on April 2024, and it included new playable characters, various game modes, upgrades, and online co-op functionality.

Double Dragon Revive is currently in development for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, and PC and will appear sometime in 2025.
