Doga Kobo released a new trailer for season 3 of Oshi no Ko, which will start airing in 2026. The new trailer focuses on Ruby and is about 30 seconds long.

The trailer only features Ruby and Aqua, though Aqua is standing with his back facing the audience. Ruby is holding onto a script for the Dig Deep! One Chance! variety show, which Aqua and Ruby will as regulars.

Comments for the teaser are mostly positive, such as one praising the key visual’s focus on the Hoshino twins to remind the audience that this is a story about revenge, and not just the idol industry. However, a lot of comments are also hoping that Doga Kobo will give the series an original ending, rather than using the one in the source material. When the manga ended in November 2024, many netizens voiced their complaints about how Akasaka closed the saga. Though some anime series may go their own route if a manga hasn’t finished by the time production wraps up, it’s unlikely for a studio to create their own ending when the mangaka already wrote one for his manga.

Oshi no Ko is readily available on streaming services like Hulu, and season 3 will start airing in 2026.

The trailer is rather short at around half a minute long. It starts with a quick look at some of the shenanigans that’ll be in the season before it takes a turn for the dramatic. You can also hear the performances of the new characters who’ll be in the spotlight from the third season. 

Mamoru Miyano will be Hikaru Kamiki while Hina Kino will portray Tsukuyomi. Miyano is a veteran voice actor with many prominent roles. This includes Light from Death Note, Setsuna from Mobile Suit Gundam 00, Tamaki from Ouran High School Host Club, Dazai in Bungo Stray Dogs, and Ryuji in Persona 5. He’s also a singer. As for Kino, she is a comparatively newer voice actress who appeared as Hanako in Asobi Asobase, Emu in Project Sekai: Colorful Stage feat. Hatsune Miku, Miri in Buddy Daddies, and Sigewinne in Genshin Impact.

Oshi no Ko is a popular anime and manga series focusing on the entertainment industry. It follows Aqua and Ruby, reincarnated fans of super idol Hoshino Ai. After Ai’s murder, the two of them resolve to become idols, with Aqua wanting to do so to find Ai’s murderer and kill him.

Kadokawa has acquired anime studio Doga Kobo as a subsidiary. Doga Kobo is known for its work on Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun and, more recently, Oshi no Ko. [Thanks, Yahoo!]

According to a report from Yahoo, Kadokawa and Doga Kobo have been on amicable for the past decade. As part of Kadokawa’s “global media mix with technology” strategy, it aims to increase its creative output and create anime, as well as expand its shows’ IPs. With this acquisition, Kadokawa has strengthened its ability to create anime that can be popular and profitable on a global scale.

Ryuu Ishiguro, a representative from Doga Kobo, stated that the company has worked with a lot of different companies and people to create anime. Kadokawa is one of those companies and has been a good partner to Doga Kobo. Now that Doga Kobo is in a better place than ever, it will work hard to create even better works than it’s released in the past.

Doga Kobo is an animation that was first established in July 1973 by former Toei Animation . Actually, as of July 11, 2024, the company is now exactly 51 years old. Aside from the aforementioned Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-kun and Oshi no Ko, it also produced Koihime Musou, YuruYuri, and Chiikawa.

As of July 11, 2024, Doga Kobo is now a subsidiary of Kadokawa. You can catch Doga Kobo’s current anime, Oshi no Ko season 2, exclusively on HIDIVE.

The normal kit costs 3,800 JPY ($23.60) and the bonus kit costs 6,800 JPY ($42.80). Aside from the normal kit that you’ll need for the game, the bonus kit will come with exclusive goods. In order to play the game, you’ll need to have an app on your smartphone device or PC, as well as the kid.

The story of the escape room is that you’re a professional idol with Ichigo Production. One day, you’re involved with a scandal that you know nothing about. Since you’re forced to stay inside, you can communicate with the of B-Komachi, as well as Gotanda and Aqua, through calls and texts. Aside from talking to them to gather clues, you can also read various interviews and notes to try and figure out what’s going on.

As part of this escape room, SCRAP will release some collaboration Oshi no Ko merchandise. Aside from scenes in the show, these goods show the characters dressed up like detectives. The prices for everything are:

HIDIVE has announced that the English versioin of Oshi no Ko season 2 will appear on its platform on July 3, 2024. You’ll be able to start watching it from 8:00 AM PDT/11:00 AM EDT.

This is the same date that the second season will start airing in Japan. So you’ll be able to watch it right when it broadcasts for the originating country as well. Granted, we always knew that HIDIVE would be releasing the second season in English. It confirmed back in March 2024 that it would do so, along with the key visual of everyone preparing for the Tokyo Blade stage play.

Those with even a ing interest in Japanese media probably knew of Oshi no Ko, between its recognizable character designs and memorable opening song. “Idol” by Yoasobi was everywhere, breaking streaming records on Oricon and racking up millions of views no matter the language.

The story of Oshi no Ko follows Aqua and Ruby, the twin children of top idol Hoshino Ai. In reality, they are the reincarnations of people who’d been fans of Ai until their untimely deaths. After a mysterious culprit kills Ai, the two of them enter the entertainment industry in order to investigate.

Oshi no Ko is available for streaming via HIDIVE and season 2 will start airing from July 3, 2024.

The Kyoto police department charged a man in his fifties with assault because he attacked his subordinate for telling him Oshi no Ko spoilers. The incident happened back on February 1, 2024. [Thanks, Mainichi and Manga Mogura RE!]

The assailant and the victim worked for the Kyoto District Legal Affairs Bureau. According to interviews with people who knew the both of them, the two were chatting about Oshi no Ko when the subordinate mentioned unsolicited spoilers about Oshi no Ko. The assailant then yelled, “I hate spoilers!” and then attacked the subordinate. He grabbed him by the collar and kicked him around the waist. The subordinate was not hurt in the attack. It’s unknown what part of the story the subordinate spoiled.

Oshi no Ko is a very popular anime and manga series that started serialization in April 2020. An anime series started airing in April 2023, with both the show and the opening song receiving acclaim. The story is about both the struggles of being an idol in Japan, as well as a murder mystery as to who murdered the protagonists’ favorite idol and reincarnated selves’ mother.

Oshi no Ko is available for streaming on services like HIDIVE and Yen Press has licensed the manga for English release.

According to the recent results from the Yahoo Japan Search Awards, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was the most searched for video game in 2023. In of anime, Oshi no Ko was the one most people searched for.

After the success of Breath of the Wild, Tears of the Kingdom followed as both next big mainline The Legend of Zelda title from Nintendo and a direct sequel to the game. For six years the game was in development, and it released on May 12, 2023. By June 2023, Tears of the Kingdom had cemented itself as the fastest selling Nintendo title.

During the Oshi no Ko Ichigo Production Fan Festival 2023 event, Doga Kobo announced season 2 of the anime will begin broadcasting in 2024. On November 26, 2023, a teaser visual and video were ed to official Oshi no Ko social media s.

Currently, we do not know of a more specific release window for Oshi no Ko season 2. We can only confirm that the anime is scheduled to be released sometime next year.

The new key visual and trailer features three major characters in Oshi no Ko: Aqua, Kana Arima, and Akane Kurokawa. These three characters are in a love triangle following the events of the first season. Both young women might also help Aqua find answers to help him achieve his goal.

No further information on the second season of Oshi no Ko has been shared just yet. We aren’t sure if YOASOBI will be returning for the opening theme song. The last time they did, the opening theme song “Idol” became quite popular and broke the Oricon Weekly Streaming Record in May 2023.

To go along with the airing of the Oshi no Ko “B-Komachi” episode, the official videos for Kana Arima’s “Pepper Workout” and “Full Moon” songs appeared. Both featured prominently in the character’s life or in the show. For example, both of the tracks appeared as insert songs during the episode, with one being a part of the character’s history.

First, here’s Kana performing “Pepper Workout” as a child in Oshi no Ko. Rather than a full-time gig, it is an exercise video sort of thing for children. The song and brief clip repeats multiple times over the course of the video, to bulk the length up to about a full minute. Megumi Han, the character’s voice actress, is noted as the performer for it.

Kadokawa revealed that a new Oshi no Ko figure of Ai Hoshino is on the way. It will be a part of Kadokawa’s KDcolle series. It will be a 1/7 scale plastic figure, painted in full color, and it stands at approximately 8.5 inches, or 215mm in height. A stand is included with the figure as well. The figure costs 21,780 JPY (or roughly $160 USD), and it is scheduled to release on November 2023 in Japan. Pre-orders for the figure will close on May 24, 2023.

The new Oshi no Ko Ai Hoshino figure depicts the titular character of the series in her idol outfit, holding a microphone in one hand while pointing at the crowd while performing. Different facial expressions for the figure will be included.

People will be able to learn more about the Oshi no Ko anime outside Japan, as the official Twitter announced an English website is open. It's a bit sparse at the moment. It mainly lists where to watch the anime in countries where it is being aired or simulcast. However, there are two brief statements from two of the show’s voice actors.

With the Rie Takahashi statement, she noted that she’s been inspired and “strengthened” by the series. She plays Ai Hoshino in it. Kent Ito, who plays Gorou Amemiya, noted he got the role “about a year ago” and noted how people outside Japan will see how different the entertainment industry is compared to what they know.

Oshi no Ko’s enjoyed quite a bit of success since its debut. For example, the opening theme song “Idol,” by Yoasobi, ed 23 million views on YouTubeat the beginning of April 2023. It’s since ed 41 million views since it was released about two weeks ago.

Oshi no Ko is streaming on HIDIVE. Yen Press handles the English localization of the manga. The show will appear on both Blu-ray and DVD in Japan. The anime’s first volume will release there on June 28, 2023.

The anime adaptation of Oshi no Ko will release on Blu-ray and DVD in Japan. It will receive 6 volumes, with the first one releasing on June 28, 2023. The first prints of the DVD and Blu-ray will include special bonuses. The Oshi no Ko Blu-ray will cost 9,900 JPY (or roughly $73 USD), while the DVD version will cost 8,800 JPY (~$65 USD).

The items included in the first editions of the Oshi no Ko DVD and Blu-ray include a special case, a special booklet and leaflet, a storyboard book of the anime, and a digipak with newly drawn art by Kanna Hirayama, the character designer for the show. Additionally, every version will include a special behind the scenes video, and audio commentary of the anime.

Oshi no Ko is a supernatural drama and murder mystery that follows Aqua and Ruby Hoshino, twin siblings and children of the deceased famous idol Ai Hoshino, who are trying to uncover the identity of their mother’s murderer.

In other Oshi no Ko news, Yoasobi’s “Idol,” the opening song for the anime adaptation, recently sured 23 million views on YouTube.

The music video for Yoasobi’s “Idol,” which serves as the opening for Oshi no Ko, reached over 23 million views on YouTube. Ayase ed the video only about a week ago. As of the time of writing, it is in first place on the trending music chart for YouTube Japan.

Doga Kobo, which is the studio behind Oshi no Ko, also worked on the music video for Yoasobi. Fans of the show might recognize the style because of this. “Idol” is a collaboration between Yoasobi and several other musical creators, such as Konnie Aoki (who wrote the English lyrics for the background chorus) and Real Akiba Boyz (who provided the background shouts).

Throughout our lives, we’re bound to encounter a situation where we might deal with imposter syndrome. Are we where we are supposed to be? Do we deserve what we have? It can feel especially so if someone might look a certain way, have certain hobbies or be around people who they consider more adept at a position. My Senpai is Annoying does a good job of capturing what life can be like when you might deal with these on a daily basis. Especially since it is handled in a way in which we can see someone who does deserve what she has and is dealing with things as best she can.

My Senpai is Annoying stars a businesswoman named Futaba Igarashi. While a grown woman and quite capable, she’s also quite short, has a sweet tooth and happens to love things that are cute. (For example, in the first episode she wants to order a “Lucky Meal” at a fast food place because the toy is so adorable.) All this means she does stand out a bit in the Itomaki Trading office. She unquestionably deserves to be there. Especially since even in the first episode, she’s capable enough to be picked to perform a presentation for a major client. (And is successful with it.)

However, Igarashi also happens to have a supervisor who, while a good person, is something of the opposite of her. Well, physically, at least. Harumi Takeda is big, boisterous and friendly. He’s the sort of person who might tussle her hair because of the size difference and the relationship they have. Which, well, can get incredibly annoying. Not to mention there’s also another senpai, Souta Kazama, who has a habit of teasing her. Specifically, he’s adept at capturing photos of her that are embarrassing, then sharing them with everyone else. And her other coworkers Touko Sakurai and Mona Tsukishiro both are women who look more mature than her. Which means when standing alongside them, it further accentuates her own traits.

Right from the first episode, My Senpai is Annoying is good at showing what it’s like to face these sorts of fears about yourself. We see Igarashi’s highs and lows. Or in some cases, the lows she imagines she has that are really nothing. There’s the enthusiasm she puts into her job. The effort she puts into a presentation, which is so good that Takeda says she should handle the pitch with the client. The positive interactions where Sakurai and Kazama want to spend time with her. Her taking care of a stranger by giving away her scarf.

But we also see moments where the uncertainties settle in. They show up in the same ways they might in our own lives. An easy-to-make mistake results in a client order being wrong. This leaves Igarashi feeling down on herself and her abilities. She’s in a funk, even though Harumi its his own part in not checking it as her supervisor and treats her to a coffee. Forgetting a for a train. Being afraid of heading somewhere at night alone, even though you’re an adult. An awkward confession, then dealing with it and wondering how someone sees you after. Not knowing if it is or isn’t proper to give someone a gift.

The thing about the show is that each episode keeps presenting situations like this. We see the annoyances we might all deal with. Even when the people around us are well-intentioned, their actions can leave us questioning ourselves. They might play on our own insecurities. Especially if we make a mistake that leaves us self-aware. It’s only from an outside perspective that we could really see that those little things are no big deal. By watching Futaba, it made me realize how often I overanalyze and agonize about the small things that others probably don’t even notice. It makes it easy to enjoy and identify with the anime. And perhaps even offers a little reassurance for when I worry about whether I’m doing okay myself.
