Cover announced that Hololive Vtubers Inugami Korone, Shirogane Noel, and Himemori Luna will be involved in an “May the Fourth” Star Wars celebration stream and project with Disney. Newly drawn illustrations of the Vtubers wearing Jedi robes were also revealed.

The special stream program is scheduled for May 3, 2025, starting at 7pm JST, and it will be held on Inugami Korone’s YouTube channel. As part of the program, the three Vtubers will discuss their shared ion for Star Wars, showcase some of their treasured Star Wars goods, special videos, and a video interview held at the recently held Star Wars Celebration Japan 2025.

Additionally, the “Star Wars Galaxy in Shibuya” event will be held between May 4-19, 2025 at the Shibuya Tsutaya in Tokyo, Japan. a variety of Star Wars merchandise will be available at the venue, and character standees for Korone, Noel, and Luna wearing their Jedi clothes will be on display.

In case you missed it, Gawr Gura will be holding her graduation stream on May 1, 2025, a few days before the Star Wars Day stream. The popular Hololive Vtuber announced her graduation on April 15, 2025.

Ever since Toge Production’s indie game Coffee Talk became a visual novel and simulation sensation, we’ve seen a number of developers try to mimic the experience of working as a barista to make drinks while also getting involved in customer’s lives. Some of these end up being relatively successful too! Bloom Digital Media and Disney now opened shop with Disney Villains Cursed Cafe for a new take on the concept with a similar sort of game. It’s absolutely geared more toward fans of the movies and characters within and a little simple, but will likely spark joy with its charm and silliness.

We don’t actually get to know much about “ourselves” during Disney Villains Cursed Cafe. Things begin with us looking for a job and finding a help wanted ad for The Cursed Cafe. It lists things like requirements and duties, which you can react to with dialogue options. When we head to the place to apply with Mr. Magus, we find a dilapidated restaurant with an odd book floating in midair. Reading the spell within “opens” the shop, transforming it into a vibrant place filled with colorful, iconic villains from Disney series.

From there, Ursula from The Little Mermaid walks us through running the place. Because apparently showing up was enough to become the new Potionista, and she doesn’t seem to know any Mr. Magus. Throughout your shift, a handful of villains will come to the counter. You choose which ones to serve. They’ll talk about what’s going on in their daily, sometimes not even malicious, lives and ask for a potion. You then brew something from them, either giving exactly what they ask for or what you think they need. You then see more of their story. Yzma also shows up to sell “Do-Over Doppio” options that let you rewind the day and make other choices. But basically you talk to someone, toss two or three ingredients into the kettle, and brew something up for them. It’s very easy and forgiving.

Disney Villains Cursed Cafe for sure follows the Coffee Talk and Tavern Talk game formula. So much so that after you select a customer, they will even banter with whoever else also was waiting for a drink. However, I will say it feels a little less involved than either one. Brewing potions is incredibly simple, as is meeting needs of the folks you’re talking to. While everyone does have their own storyline, they also don’t feel as intricate. This means going into it, someone should realize this really is a visual novel with occasional drink selections and not a more involved situation.

That said, the visual novel elements do work pretty well! While some of your dialogue choices don’t really change the story and just alter the character’s reaction in the game, I loved the depiction of the baddies in Disney Villains Cursed Cafe. This is a modernized take on them, and we’re also seeing them all when they are off the clock. It means they can be quite silly. Some do feel a bit better written than others, as I really loved the responses from people like Maleficent, Ursula, Gaston, Jafar, and Yzma. But there were some times when I didn’t find folks like Captain Hook, Cruella de Vil, and the Evil Queen as entertaining. I loved hearing Hook and Maleficent discuss the cursing of children, as well as seeing Gaston distracted by cat videos on his phone!

This also extends to the presentation. I really like the art direction and ambiance Bloom offered in this adventure. The new character designs are fantastic, and I loved all the costume choices for Disney Villains Cursed Cafe. I wish there’d been a bit more voice acting, rather than occasional sound bit effects like a laugh. It all stays very colorful and true to the source materials, which I appreciated.

As someone who did grow up with all of these movies and love them, I do wish that a few more classic baddies ended up in the game. The characters we do see in Disney Villains Cursed Cafe are fantastic! But what about Hades? Where's Dr. Facilier, who I feel would really have fit in well here? I bet Shan Yu could really use a drink! (Let's not talk about how I would have loved to see a catboy take on Scar.) I guess I should be pleased that there's some acknowledgement of The Emperor's New Groove, which is an underrated classic.

It won’t be the most challenging game you’ll play, but Disney Villains Cursed Cafe will delight fans of the stories and baddies starring in it. It’s a very relaxed experience. You never need to worry about the consequences. It’s about enjoying the moment with over-the-top personalities and potentially affecting the course of their adventures in the process. That said, the ease of it and focus on prior knowledge of the enemies within mean that, unlike similar games Coffee Talk and Tavern Talk, you do need a level of knowledge or investment to get the most enjoyment out of it.

The Disney+ Japanese YouTube channel ed a trailer for Twisted Wonderland: Episode of Heartslabyul, the anime adaptation of the titular game. At a minute and a half long, the trailer gives us a look at the disastrous opening ceremony, in which protagonist Yuken finds himself in Twisted Wonderland and meets Grim.

The trailer appeared online over the weekend, and is only available in Japanese. Most of the housewardens briefly appear in the trailer, as they’re present during the ceremony, save for Idia and Malleus.

Yohei Azakami voices Yuken in the anime adaptation of Twisted Wonderland: Episode of Heartslabyul. Azakami’s prominent roles include Guel from Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury, Mydei from Honkai: Star Rail, and Toshizo Hijikata from Blue Miburo.

Twisted Wonderland is a Japanese mobile game in which you attend a school full of characters “twisted” from Disney villains. It’s more akin to a text adventure with rhythm game and battle RPG elements than the dating sim some believe it to be. As a note, the anime is based off the manga adaptation rather than the game. There, the “Yu” changes from book to book. So it’s unknown if Yuken will remain the protagonist in the following Savanaclaw and Octavinelle parts, or if the anime will somehow introduce a different Yu.

Twisted Wonderland is available on mobile devices and the anime will start airing in October 2025 as a Disney+ exclusive. You can also read the manga in English via Viz.

Disney Step has officially launched in Japan. It’s an AR game that has you searching for treasure in real life with Mickey and other Disney characters.

Disney Step is an ARG in the vein of Pokemon Go and Pikmin Bloom. The city around you transforms into the setting of the game, and you can go around IRL to look for treasure with familiar Disney characters. Like most mobile games, it’s free-to-play with microtransactions involving real-life money. From the website, it seems that gacha items are for cosmetics. You can dress up your avatar in various outfits and costumes, including items that draw inspiration from Disney characters and movies.

Like most other ARGs that involve using your phone to explore real life, you should be aware of your surroundings so you’re not walking into traffic or tresing.

There will be a campaign between March 3 to April 1, 2025 to celebrate the game’s launch. Every day for seven days, you can to receive gacha tickets and gems. According to the website, over 500,000 people pre-ed for Disney Step before its March 3, 2025 release date. To commemorate this, all players will receive gems, keys, and a Mickey Mouse plush to take pictures with in the photo studio.

Square Enix and Disney revealed that U-Treasure has opened orders for new Kingdom Hearts necklaces and earrings. People in Japan can place orders for the pieces of jewelry modeled after Sora's Crown.

The prices and production times will vary based on the materials used. U-Treasure sets the price for the earring at ¥9,350 (~$60.80) and the necklace at ¥13,200 (~$85.80) when it uses silver, which also only takes a week to produce. The items are also available in K18 gold, which will raise the production time to seven weeks and the prices to ¥60,500 (~$393.25) for the earring and ¥84,700 (~$550.55) for the necklace. As another side note, the earring price is for a single item, so if one wants to purchase a pair, they must prepare double the costs.

Even though the U-Treasure website has a WorldShopping widget to international orders, the new Kingdom Hearts jewelry has been specifically made to be formally orderable only in Japan. That means people who reside outside the country will have to go through an extra set of hurdles if they want to get these items, unlike those from other franchises like Monster Hunter.

The new necklaces and earrings featuring Sora's Crown from the Kingdom Hearts series are immediately available to order in Japan.

Hololive Vtuber Hoshimachi Suisei has a bit part playing a character in the Japanese version of Moana 2. She also sang and ed a cover of “Beyond,” which is one of the theme songs in the new Moana movie.

According to hololive’s post on social media, Hoshimachi Suisei plays a villager in the Japanese dub of Moana 2, and it encourages viewers to try and listen for her voice. This is not the first time that hololive Vtubers voiced background characters in the Japanese dub of movies. In early November 2024, five Vtubers who were part of the promotional campaign for Venom: The Last Dance voiced background characters in the film.

This music video is a tribute to the film, and Suisei appears wearing an islander outfit. In the description of the video, she stated that Disney asked her to sing this song, because she shares many of Moana’s characteristics. In particular, she has a strong will to continue down the path she chose, even if she’s unsure of what the future holds, and she has the courage to continue challenging herself in a new world. Suisei also says that she sang the song with excitement that contains a hint of anxiety.

Moana 2 will air in Japanese theaters from December 6, 2024. The movie premiered in English on November 21, 2024 at the Lanikuhonua Cultural Institute in Hawaii, before appearing in the United States on November 27, 2024.

CyberAgent announced that it will open a new pop-up store featuring illustrations based on Disney characters by Mika Pikazo. The temporary store will be available at the Shibuya Tsutaya building throughout December 2024.

The Mika Pikazo store will primarily feature illustrations of girls wearing attire inspired by key Disney characters while also carrying their respective plushes. The characters in question are Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, and Chip and Dale.

Some of the merchandise will include a compilation item that features all seven characters—including the Chip and Dale girls who are treated in a single slot. In addition, Mika Pikazo will also release items featuring a Mickey Mouse-inspired collage.

Here are some of the items that will be available in the store, along with their prices listed in Japanese yen:

• Acrylic stand - ¥2,200
• T-shirt (XL size) - ¥6,600
• Tin badge - ¥550 for a random character item
• Acrylic block - ¥8,800

This Disney illustration collection will add more entries to the list of franchises Mika Pikazo has worked on. While she is best known as the Fire Emblem Engage character designer, she also designed Fate/Grand Order's Sei Shonagon and Vtubers like Hololive English's Hakos Baelz.

The Disney Collection by Mika Pikazo Pop Up Store will open on the B1 floor of Shibuya Tsutaya on December 7-31, 2024.

After three years of radio silence, we finally have some news on what’s going on with the anime adaptation of Twisted Wonderland. We now have a key visual for it, along with the news that it’ll start streaming on Disney+ in October 2025. [Thanks, Dengeki Online!]

The key visual shows the seven dorm leaders in the order that they become important in the story. Riddle is the closest, since the game starts with the Heartslabyul chapter, and Malleus is the furthest, as Diasomnia was the final dorm to have a main story about it. Disney confirmed three seasons so far, and the name of the first season is “Episode of Heartslabyul.” Each season will be a different chapter of the main story, meaning we'll also see the Savanaclaw and Octavinelle chapters. According to the press release, the anime will include scenes and details from the manga adaptation as well.

Twisted Wonderland is a visual novel that takes place in a magical school, with seven dormitories drawing inspiration from major Disney villains. All of the characters who attend the school are also either based on characters or motifs from various Disney movies. The player is a normal person who finds themself in this magical world. Along with the mysterious creature Grim, they have wild misadventures with everyone while searching for a way home. Some people may misunderstand Twisted Wonderland as a dating sim, but it is not.

The Twisted Wonderland anime will start airing on Disney+ in October 2025. More details on it, such as trailers, will appear closer to that release window.

Disney’s Frozen has topped the Disney Film I Most Recommend ranking chart in Japan. This poll appeared on CM Site’s Rankingoo website. [Thanks, PR Times!]

In total, a little over 5,500 people responded to this poll. The ages for the pollers ranged between ten and fifty, and people of all genders were allowed to give their answers. While Rankingoo’s website was looking for the top 40 Disney films, we will only give the top 10, along with some of the comments from voters.

Disney+ Japan has unveiled its September 2024 distribution lineup, which includes two notable entries from the Sword Art Online franchise. These additions reflect Disney+ Japan’s ongoing efforts to diversify its offerings with both anime and global content.

Beginning September 13, 2024, subscribers to Disney+ will have access to Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Aria on a Starless Night and Sword Art Online the Movie -Progressive- Scherzo of Deep Night. These films are part of the Sword Art Online Progressive series, which revisits and expands upon the early events of the popular Sword Art Online anime and light novels.

In addition to the Sword Art Online films, Disney+ will also be streaming the anime Murai no Koi starting September 4, 2024. The platform's September lineup further includes a variety of international dramas, such as The Father Who Came Back Season 2, Criminal Minds: FBI vs. Unusual Crimes Season 17, and the Korean drama The Demon Kanojo is a Judge. Disney and Epic Games announced that people will be able to watch a portion of the D23 showcase in Fortnite. The part shown will involve reveals related to both Disney properties and the game. It will happen both as it airs on August 10, 2024, as well as be available on demand, and people who turn up will get a Wolverine-themed cosmetic called the Peelverine Plush Back Bling. 

How do I watch the Disney D23 Showcase in Fortnite? 1m2p5b

There are basically two ways to watch a portion of the presentation while in-game. One is to do so live, as it happens, and the other is to catch up with it later after the fact. Depending on how you plan to tune in, the method to do so will probably change.

If you plan to watch the Disney D23 Showcase in Fortnite live, as it happens, then just open up the game. When you do, there will be a Discover menu icon in the Home Bar for Disney Horizons Live. This will first appear at 7:30pm PT/10:30pm ET on August 10, 2024, with the presentation beginning an hour later. So as long as you get there by 8:30pm PT/11:30pm PT, you’ll be fine. 

After it airs, you’ll be able to view the archive on-demand. To do so, your best bet is to enter the Fortnite Island Code 7908-6413-2516. This will take you to the Disney Horizons Live island. That will only be available until August 16, 2024.

How do I get the Peelverine Plush Back Bling in Fortnite? 1s1u4t

Basically, you need to head to Disney Horizons Live to get this new cosmetic for free. Whether you watch it as it airs live or on-demand, you get it for free. The only catch is that you must stay at that island for a minimum of 10 minutes. (To be safe, I’d recommend waiting around there for 15.) If you do that, Epic Games will then send you the Peelverine Plush Back Bling in-game for free in September 2024.

If you miss the D3 2024 event, there will still be a method to get the Peelverine. Epic announced it may also sell it in the Fortnite Shop.

Fortnite is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, Windows PC, and mobile devices. Disney will air its usual D23 showcase on August 10, 2024.

The Disney Dreamlight Valley website has ed its roap for 2024. New characters will include Timon & Pumbaa, Jafar, and Tiana.

For starters, a free August 2024 update will introduce Tiana from The Princess and the Frog to the valley. You’ll also be able to get the Tiana’s Palace and Star Path decoration. In the same month, the A Rift in Time expansion will introduce a new story in which you infiltrate Jafar’s palace to stop his evil plan. This will be paid DLC.

October 2024 will have a smaller update to fix issues with the game. However, it will introduce Timon & Pumbaa in a storyline that takes you back to The Lion King. Finally, in late 2024, it look like Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas may take center stage, as the picture shows a dress that looks like hers. However, there’s no information on that as of yet.\

Other future updates for Disney Dreamlight Valley include fixes based on player . There will be changes to the Furniture and Wardrobe menus, as well as ways to get more space in the valley if you have a really full one. There will be cross-platform multiplayer for PlayStation consoles as well.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is a life simulation game in which you live in a magical valley alongside classic Disney characters. It’s very similar to Animal Crossing in that you can interact with the residents, fix up the valley, and rearrange items around the valley or your house. However, there is an overarching story in this game.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is readily available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, iOS, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC.

Walt Disney Japan announced that Disney+ will include 5 classic Macross anime series and movies as part of the August 2024 lineup for the streaming service. The shows and movies will appear between August 21-23, 2024 alongside other international movies and TV series. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

Additionally, Big West confirmed that other Macross series will appear on the streaming services around the same time. However, the availability of the series and movies will depend on region.

Super Dimension Fortress Macross is the very first anime series in the franchise. Originally released between October 1982 and June 1983 in Japan, the show has 36 episodes. Macross: Do You Love? is a movie adaptation of the original anime series, featuring new animation. The full title of the anime movie is The Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Love?, and it released in Japan on July 21, 1984.

Meanwhile, Macross Flash Back 2012 is a compilation of music videos belonging to the original Macross anime series and the Do You Love? movie, released in 1987 to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the original anime series. The 6 episode OVA series Macross II: Lovers Again released between May and November 1992, and was the first installment in the franchise to with a new cast of characters. Finally, Macross Zero is an anime series that serves as a prequel to the original anime, and it released between December 2002 and October 2004.

The Disney+ Japan streaming service will receive 5 new Macross anime TV shows and movies in mid-August 2024.

A new update for Disney Dreamlight Valley will introduce Mulan and Mushu to the game. They’ll be part of the The Lucky Dragon update, which will go live on June 26, 2024.

Mulan will be wearing the blue-and-red hanfu that she was sporting near the end of the movie after she returns to help save the emperor from the Huns. The promotional art in the trailer also shows some of the clothes you’ll be able to put on your avatar. It looks like simple, Chinese-inspired clothing.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is a life sim and adventure game featuring familiar characters from Disney and Pixar franchises. You’ll be able to create a player avatar and use it to explore the titular valley. As you go through the game, you can unlock different realms and interact with both protagonists and antagonists of the various Disney films.

Disney Dreamlight Valley is readily available for the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Windows PC, and Nintendo Switch. It’s also available on the Mac App Store and Apple Arcade. The free The Lucky Dragon update will go live on June 26, 2024 in Disney Dreamlight Valley.
