Nippon Ichi Software announced a new physical version of Disgaea 7 that includes all previous DLC, as well as a new scenario featuring Asagi Asagiri as a new playable character. It will release in Japan on July 25, 2024, and we still don’t know when or if the new complete edition will appear overseas.

The new scenario is titled “World Savers Arc.” In it, Fuji and his allies will team up with previous protagonists in the Disgaea series. Asagi will be unlocked as a playable character in Disgaea 7 after its completion. Asagi will have the Main Character class, in a similar fashion to her appearance in other Disgaea games. In addition, the game will receive various balance changes and additions. For example, all characters will be able to activate Hell Mode, and the max stats cap will be unlocked.

For Japanese players that already own the original version of Disgaea 7, the new scenario will be available to purchase as a standalone DLC for 550 yen (or about $3.63.) Furthermore, the gameplay changes and additional challenges will appear as a free update for owners of the original game.

Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless is immediately available for the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The new Disgaea 7 complete version will release in Japan on July 25, 2024 for the PS4, PS5, and Switch.

Review: Disgaea 7 Rights Disgaea 6’s Wrongs

Ahead of Disgaea 7’s debut, of the team at NIS promised they were taking into from Disgaea 6. Early indications suggested the game was on the right track. Now, after about two weeks with it, I’ve seen for myself that it wasn’t all talk. NIS delivered. It isn’t dethroning Disgaea 2 as my favorite installment, but it feels more like the stronger entries in the series and I enjoyed it more than Disgaea 4 and 5

Disgaea 7 begins with Pirilika, a rich business woman obsessed with the Hinomoto Netherworlds, finally getting to go visit. However, she finds the concept of bushido is abandoned and the people in charge abusing her power. It’s then that she meets Fuji, a wandering ronin allergic to empathy in deep debt. While he initially is going to take advantage of her naivety and otaku tendencies to quickly get the money he owes, he finds himself bound by a contract to help her get the Seven Founding Weapons and change Hinomoto before he gets his money.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCWjdX2GRwM&ab_channel=NISAmerica

As the duo begin to head around Hinomoto and increase the size of their army, Disgaea 7 feels like a traditional strategic-RPG entry in the series. You dispatch units, which level up, learn new class skills, and can use weapon skills while traversing the map. You gain experience for facing foes and defeating maps. Completing the map missions can earn you extra experience, money, and items, and you can take on quests that grant rewards like access to new generic unit types for, say, beating X number of enemy types. Geo s return and are a major focus, adding buffs, debuffs, and the ability to destroy them to change colors and deal damage to anyone standing on those spots when it happens. Verticality can also be a thing for some maps, as well as stage traversal, which makes lifting and throwing allied units helpful to reach objectives or complete them more quickly.

What I noticed right away with Disgaea 7 is that the maps felt like an improvement over Disgaea 6, even in only the first four chapters. The first chapters’ are all good learning experiences and great for grinding units up to level 10. From there, you gradually get to see them scale in complexity. At the same time, the generic enemies you face offer a great sense of balance and scaling as well, and it felt satisfying to see the types I’d face in the first chapter grow and still feel like they could be threats in the latter half of the game and Item World.

I will say I’m not the biggest fan of the Jumbification System. In some situations, it feels like a way to artificially inflate the difficulty and allow the enemy to get in some cheap shots. In others, I felt like it perhaps made a situation a little too easy for me. There’s also the matter of it feeling like a move best pulled with unique party , such as Fuji and Pirilika. A super-sized Prinny doesn’t carry the same weight.

Conversely, the Hell Mode system is fantastic. That these Founding Weapons have conditions tied to their use keeps them from being abused or a reliable crutch. They really feel like something you build up to in a battle and use at a critical moment. Plus, their weight of the abilities also ensures the relevance of the characters in your crew that can access them. One of my favorites, which isn’t a spoiler as NISA discussed it before launch, is how useful Yeyasu is when using Tokugawa Tenge as a crowd control measure.

I also appreciated that the Item World is a place I’d actually want to visit in Disgaea 7, compared to Disgaea 6. This time the rarity of the item determines how many floors it will have before you head into it, with 10 being the minimum and 30 the maximum. They can be quite challenging, which is great if the story maps are getting a bit easy due to level grinding and character improving. Like the story mode stages and their missions to complete, the Item World offers that to increase the level of the item and give you a chance to get a Mr. Gency’s Exit. When you happen upon the Innocents, you can get them to affect the stats of your items and equipment to make them stronger. However, they only change the stats now. There’s also an Item Reincarnation feature tied to going through the item world, which lets you on the promising Properties and Specials of any item or piece of equipment to a new incarnation and different sort of item or piece of equipment via reincarnating it. It can get engrossing, and I found it more enjoyable than general character building sometimes.

That isn’t to say that Disgaea 7 is lacking when it does come to improving of your party. It’s very good at that too. Reincarnation is present, as usual. You can set characters’ classes and have them level up in that to learn more skills. Evilities are back and quite handy for building someone up. It’s very easy to customize a character’s moveset, build up their stats, and determine their abilities, and there’s basically no barrier to learning how to do this. By the time you’re in the second chapter, you could already be starting to grind levels to work on different class skills or visit the Dark Assembly to unlock some of the basic niceties that are locked behind there, like the hospital’s Evil-Gacha, the ability to change your class, and some minor character improvements. Basically, there’s still that depth to make your party your own, and thankfully Disgaea 7 also offers the wider range of demons and monsters that was lacking from Disgaea 6

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqF--j4Xivo&ab_channel=NISAmerica

I’m also pleased to say that Disgaea 7 runs rather well on the Switch. I only played in handheld mode and, unless there was a situation with a lot of units on the field or effects, it ran really well. The character models looked fine in action, and the special attacks also looked quite good. I did tend to play in Graphics mode, rather than Performance, and did eventually turn off effect animations once I was six chapters in and realized I wasn’t encountering anything game-breaking.

Playing Disgaea 7 is a heartening experience. While Disgaea 6 may have shaken some people’s faith, this entry should restore the confidence that the team knows what they’re doing. It’s more in line with what a longtime fan of the series would expect to see. Like hey, they got it right this time. It made me glad to not only return to the Netherworld again, but keep coming back for the supplemental challenges.

Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless will come to the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and PC on October 3, 2023 in North America, October 6, 2023 in Europe, and October 13, 2023 in Australia.

A demo for Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless is now available on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, and Windows PC via Steam. NISA also ed a trailer that’s almost three minutes long to show off the gameplay. You can watch it via its official YouTube channel.

Here is the Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless demo trailer:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yx2StiwZks4

The trailer starts with a synopsis of the story, in which protagonist Fuji works with a woman named Pirilika. His goal is to look for the seven legendary weapons, which will help him defeat the shogunate and bring back Bushido. However, the majority of the video focuses more on the high damage numbers you can dish out with some of the new moves. There is also a quick look at Dodeka Max (Jumbility), which is a new feature in this entry.

Disgaea 7 is the latest entry in the long-running Disgaea series. It originally came out in Japan in January 2023 for the PS4, PS5, and Switch. The Japanese PC version will also launch in October 2023, though it will be the fourth in Japan.

Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless will come out on October 3, 2023 on the PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC via Steam in English. The demo is readily available on all platforms. You can read our preview of it here.

Disgaea 7 Preview

Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless is a new, but familiar, spin on the series. Like all Disgaea games, the localization is one that sets itself a part from other strategy RPGs due to how loose and fun the tone of the games usually are. This next entry looks to be no exception! We had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Senior Localization Editor Steve Carlton to pick his brain about how the series' localization has remained so fun and consistent over the course of the series.

Kazuma Hashimoto: The Disgaea series is known for its unique script and distinct characters, in of localization are there any guidelines the team has to follow in order for it to remain consistent across multiple numbered entries?

Steve Carlton, Senior Editor: Luckily, I’ve been an editor on each Disgaea game since Disgaea 2, including all of the added storylines on the re-releases, so I’ve been around for all of these great characters. Because of that, we’ve been able to maintain the spirit of each of their unique voices. Also, we make it a point to keep track of the distinct laughs for characters that have them.

A lot of characters have distinct ways of speaking, were there any challenges in localization for specific characters for Disgaea 7?

Carlton: One such challenge came in the form of deciding how to spell Pirilika’s mispronunciation of Japanese food. We wanted to make sure that they were both spelled wrong in the dialogue boxes, and sounded wrong when heard in the voice acting. Another example is Yayaka, the Gambling Magistrate, because she speaks in two dialects, so we set out to replicate these with appropriate American accents, and the types of phrases that are commonly used with those accents.
[caption id="attachment_972807" align="alignnone" width="1200"]disgaea 7 localization Image via NIS America[/caption]
The Disgaea series is full of jokes and lots of interesting wordplay. What was one of your favorite instances of this in Disgaea 7 that you can talk about, and what were the challenges in translating this?

Carlton: One that I can talk about is the name of the Ocean Magistrate, Sea Again. Luckily for us, because of the influence of Demmodore Opener, most of the 13 Magistrates have adopted Westernized names, so part of the wordplay on his name was based on an English loanword. Part of the joke is that he’s a recurring villain in this game, sort of like Mid-Boss and Axel in previous games. So, you will often see him again. Another part of the wordplay is a play on the Japanese term for predatory real estate practices (ji age). Unfortunately, we weren’t able to convey this properly in English, so instead, we decided to make a connection to his Ocean Magistrate duties, so we combined the homonym of Sea with the recurrence of Again to come up with his English name.

Given Disgaea 7’s distinctly Japanese setting and pulls from concepts like bushido, were there any words or phrases you forgoed translating from Japanese to English?

Carlton: Yes. Because of the setting, we felt it would be best to keep many of the in Japanese, such as the names of food, special attacks, and martial arts titles. Luckily, the wonderful voice actors were able to pronounce them pretty naturally, with help from one of the translators on the project, Nick, who—along with myself—supervised the voice recording sessions.

Is there a favorite character the team enjoyed translating dialogue for?

Carlton: A few come to mind, but the one that stands out the most was Yayaka, because of her accents.

Disgaea 7 will release on October 3, 2023 in North America, October 6, 2023 in Europe, and October 13, 2023 in Australia. It will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC. You can read out preview here.

[caption id="attachment_972807" align="alignnone" width="1200"]disgaea 7 localization Image via NIS America[/caption] The Disgaea series is full of jokes and lots of interesting wordplay. Disgaea 7 Preview

Disgaea 7: Vows of the Virtueless seems to promise to be a more challenging, concentrated effort in comparison to Disgaea 6. While it holds all of the hallmarks of previous Disgaea games concerning its easily distinguishable character design, unique localization, and a wide breadth of classes, I felt it brings a new level of complexity to the fold after getting a chance to preview the game.

Players can now use the Jumbificiation system, which makes a character of their choice (and it can be any character on the field) into a giant. The model will be so large that the character will stand at the edge of the map, ready to pummel any foes on the battlefield or any opposing Jumbified character. This new mechanic is exciting as you can literally level the playing field with a single punch, though sometimes at the expense of your own units. It also creates a higher level of tension when you have to use the Jumbification mechanic against bosses that are also Jumbified. It becomes a test of who can knock each other out first while also micromanaging your normal units on the battlefield.

In general, this is an interesting gimmick mechanic for the Disgaea series. Jumbification can be done through killing enemies, powering up your meter to turn the tide of battle if it seems to be going awry. But players can still do things like throw units around the map and chain together attacks like they could in previous Disgaea games. From what I played, everything seems to remain intact, with the experience far more grueling and punishing than Disgaea 6. This feels more layered by comparison, and it seems to expect players to experiment with different character combinations to see what works against swaths of enemies on flat or elevated tiles.

[caption id="attachment_969096" align="aligncenter" width="1200"]Disgaea 7 Preview Image via Nippon Ichi Software[/caption]

Hell Mode is another mechanic players will utilize to deal massive amounts of damage to enemies. Players need to kill opponents to fill up their Hell Gauge, which allows for specific characters to enter Hell Mode. In this case, during the preview I was able to test Hell Mode with dual protagonist Fuji. His sword was able to cleanly slice through enemies, obliterating anyone standing in my way. It made clearing the boss during a particular stage extremely easy, and ended the battle quickly.

In of visual presentation, Disgaea 7 is still as colorful as its counterparts, with its localization still vibrant and fun. I had the opportunity to sample a bit of the story, which was just as nonsensical as previous installments. It was bursting with personality, and the overly serious Fuji was a great contrast alongside the excitable Pirilika, and the so-called ladies man Yeyasu. The voice acting was spectacular, and character illustrations gorgeous. However, it’s still a bit hard to get used to the 3D models in Disgaea 7, mostly because they still aren’t quite as detailed as previous installments. This goes for the stages I fought in as well.

[caption id="attachment_969095" align="aligncenter" width="1200"]Disgaea 7 Preview Image via Nippon Ichi Software[/caption]

Overall, Disgaea 7 is shaping up to possibly be a great entry in the series. The stages I played required me to use my brain instead of just powering through it, and the Jumbification mechanic adds a bit of extra texture to combat. I’m excited to see where Disgaea 7 will go, and how I’ll be able to utilize these new features to min-max my leveling and cut my teeth on the challenges this game will have to offer.

Disgaea 7 will release on October 3, 2023 in North America, October 6, 2023 in Europe, and October 13, 2023 in Australia. It will be available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, and PC.

New Disgaea 7 Academy Trailers Introduce the Game

The Disgaea 7 series of Disgaea Academy trailers are starting to appear worldwide to discuss the new game. This series of shorts first debuted in Japan starting in December 2022. The localized versions are basically exactly like the originals, with each installment going over different features and elements of both the new entry and series in general. The first one is called, “What is Disgaea?”

This video is more of a general introduction to the Disgaea series. It involves Zombie Maiden learning more about the games from her teacher, Mr. Ranger. It begins by reminding people when Disgaea 7 releases, then introduces the series, brings up how to play, and shows footage from the new game. It also goes over how “big numbers” remain a hallmark of the series. For example, it mentions the level cap is 9,999 and millions of damage can be dealt.

Here's the first episode of the new Disgaea 7 video series detailing elements of the game.

Interview: How Disgaea 6 Influenced Disgaea 7

In October 2023, we're going to head into a whole new Netherworld, meet a new Overlord, and deal with all sorts of tactical challenges again in Disgaea 7. It looks to be a much bigger game, in of options, than its predecessor. Siliconera got an opportunity to talk to Director Shunsuke Minowa about what we can expect from the latest entry and how past games like Disgaea 6 and fan influenced what we'll see in Disgaea 7.

Jenni Lada: When did development on Disgaea 7 begin?

Shunsuke Minowa: Development for Disgaea 7 began around June of 2021. We were taking into the mixed reception to Disgaea 6, as well as player from Disgaea 6, and decided that we wanted to quickly get a game into players’ hands that they would enjoy. Additionally, the series’ 20th anniversary felt like an appropriate time for Disgaea 7 to come out.

In the past, you worked on Disagea 4 and Disgaea 5. How did those experiences assist with the shaping of Disgaea 7

Minowa: I believe that Disgaea 5 had the highest level of refinement system-wise of all previous Disgaea [games]. In the pursuit of the deep level of customization and granularity as well as the “anything goes” approach to combat that make the series so much fun, I realized some things: deep customization and granularity should not exist just for their own sake, but rather be presented as a playground for players to find their own way of playing effectively. In order to achieve that, we made auto-battle have an associated cost, as well as improved Demonic Intelligence to make it more efficient.

Regarding the “anything goes” combat, in Disgaea 5, in of representative elements, you could lift and throw characters, had area-of-effect skills and Overlord Skills. But in of just beating the game, if you leveled these skills to a high degree, the balance would be completely broken. In other words, while still finding the perfect balance, it’s important to allow those players to train their characters to an absurd degree throughout the course of the game, rather than just at the beginning to avoid the game becoming less interesting.

[caption id="attachment_964618" align="alignnone" width="1200"]Interview: How Disgaea 6 Influenced Disgaea 7 Image via NIS America[/caption]

What did Nippon Ichi Software, Inc do to ensure Disgaea 7 is well-balanced and approachable for newcomers, but still challenging for returning players?

Minowa: In my understanding, each feature that allows the player to deeply customize their own experience is there to give players the tools to be as creative as they would like. Disgaea 6’s auto-battle system, which could be used indiscriminately, took this creativity away from the player by removing a core aspect of the series and depriving players of the joy of raising their characters.

As previously mentioned, in Disgaea 7, the auto-battle feature now has a cost associated with it and cannot be used indiscriminately. Players will have to balance its cost with its usage, requiring them to think carefully. Additionally, we made it so that the player had to manually choose to skip playing in battles so that the player’s experience wouldn't be lessened by just having the game automatically proceed.

We’ve also improved the scope of the tutorial and its availability so that new players won’t get lost, and added quests that gradually introduce various gameplay systems so that players are led to a natural understanding of the game’s various elements.

Disgaea has always featured large numbers – whether that be in levels or damage – why do you think this ended up being a hallmark feature for the series? How does Disgaea 7 handle big level and damage numbers?

Minowa: The series features large numbers so that players can have a concrete feeling of the work they’re putting into raising their characters. I think one of the most important elements of RPGs overall is seeing your characters grow in power. High levels and damage output are a clear visual way of representing this.

Aside from leveling, players can also make use of [Character] Reincarnation, the Item World, Item Reincarnation and other systems to strengthen their characters so that they can constantly have a feeling of their progress [throughout the game].

[caption id="attachment_964619" align="alignnone" width="1200"]NIS America Image via NIS America[/caption]

Disgaea 6 greatly scaled back the number of available classes, with ones like Cleric, Flora Beast, Great Wyrm, Magician, Nekomata, Slumber Cat, and Valkyrie all absent. Will Disgaea 7 include a smaller roster of possible humanoid characters and monsters or will it be more like past entries and offer a larger array? Will we see certain missing classes return?

Minowa: For Disgaea 7, there are more than double the number of classes that were available in Disgaea 6, for a total of 45.

The decreased number of classes in Disgaea 6 was something often brought up by players and something we put at forefront when developing this game. We have both male and female versions of certain classes, and made sure to bring back fan-favorite classes. We also have new classes: Maiko, Bandit, Zombie Maiden, and Big Eye. Each has their own special characteristics, so please enjoy using each of them!

In Disgaea 6, gameplay elements like Magichange, monster weapons, tower skills, and weapon skills were removed and missed by fans of the series; how did Disgaea 7 change in response to that?

Minowa: The lack of weapon skills in Disgaea 6 was a feature that we vowed to bring back once development on Disgaea 7 started. Related to this, we introduced a new feature called Item Reincarnation, which allows you to carry over weapon skills from one weapon type to another.

Due to the introduction of another new feature, Hell Mode, we were not able to reinstate Magichange. This was because changing out weapons and then increasing their skill created an overlapping turn limit with Hell Mode. However, there is a good chance we will bring back Magichange in a future installment.

In of tower skills, we feel that being able to move and attack when in a tower are its only uses. When conducting research in the past, there didn't seem to be a big desire for this feature from players. However, depending on future player , this is something that we could also bring back in the future.

What kind of quality testing measures are being done to ensure parity on every platform and avoid things like frame rate issues and crashes?

Minowa: We knew there were performance issues in Disgaea 6, so when developing Disgaea 7, we made sure to consistently check this. Every time we found issues, we made sure to address them so that there are no performance issues during normal gameplay. In of crashing, even after master submission, we continued debug and patched lingering issues so that by the time the game comes out in the West, all high frequency crash bugs should be addressed and eliminated.

Which past entry do you think most influenced Disgaea 7’s story and characters? What about its gameplay?

Minowa: With this game, our motto was “back to basics” and we aimed to make a game that retained all the elements that make Disgaea what it is. In of the story, I think the influence of Disgaea 1 is strong. In of gameplay and systems, I think Disgaea 5 had the strongest influence.

Graham Russell: The Disgaea series is built around near-infinite play time, so sequels have needed to be different and not just more. Given recent entries' mixed-at-best reception to its new mechanical gimmicks, how is Disgaea 7 implementing new ideas that more effectively both change and integrate with gameplay?

Minowa: At the very start of this project, we went carefully over all fan and came to the conclusion that we must address the following things:

  • Increase the amount of character classes.
  • Revive weapon skills.
  • Remove or improve auto-battle.

We believe that these directly impact the most important elements of Disgaea, such as the volume of customization options and elements that allow the game to be delved into deeply. They were also what caused fans to be dissatisfied with Disgaea 6 and thus needed to be addressed.

For the character classes, we increased the number of classes to make it more in line with other titles in the series, and further enhanced that by allowing players to choose between male or female versions for all the lower tier classes.

For weapon skills, we decided that giving players the latitude to allow for sword or magic-s to be able to use weapon skills was a necessity. As an additional element, we also created Item Reincarnation whereby the player can keep certain skills, allowing them greater flexibility in how they train their characters.

I already covered auto-battle in a previous question, but to summarize, we added a cost in order to use it, and made it so that players must manually choose to skip playing in battles. This makes using the feature a more conscious choice from the player.

Item Reincarnation is a completely new element that allows players to, after leveling up an item in the Item World, reincarnate it as they would characters, allowing them to create more powerful items. Players did express that they wanted the Chara World to be revived. However, we decided to give players the option to focus on strengthening items rather than weapons. This is due to the Ranked Battles feature; we thought that as the Ranked Battle seasons and special rules changed, the player would have to go through the trouble of training new characters. We thought that allowing items to be strengthened would have broader applicability. That said, if enough players express interest in reviving the Chara World, it is definitely something we will consider in the future.

Disgaea 7 will come to the PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC on October 3, 2023 in North America, October 6, 2023 in Europe, and October 13, 2023 in Australia.

How did those experiences assist with the shaping of Disgaea 7 Minowa: I believe that Disgaea 5 had the highest level of refinement system-wise of all previous Disgaea [games]. [caption id="attachment_964618" align="alignnone" width="1200"]Interview: How Disgaea 6 Influenced Disgaea 7 Image via NIS America[/caption] What did Nippon Ichi Software, Inc do to ensure Disgaea 7 is well-balanced and approachable for newcomers, but still challenging for returning players? [caption id="attachment_964619" align="alignnone" width="1200"]NIS America Image via NIS America[/caption] Disgaea 6 greatly scaled back the number of available classes, with ones like Cleric, Flora Beast, Great Wyrm, Magician, Nekomata, Slumber Cat, and Valkyrie all absent. Disgaea 7 Higan Zesshousai

The latest character video for Disgaea 7 introduces the strongest swordsman in the whole of the Hinomoto Netherworld. Named Higan Zesshousai, in Disgaea 7 she's also known as the teacher of Fuji, one of the game's protagonists. She's voiced by Yui Kondou. Yui Kondou also voiced characters like Sayaka Nishizono in Lost Judgment, Smithy Minayle in Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak, and Biwa Hayahide in Uma Musume: Pretty Derby.

Check out the Disgaea 7 Higan Zesshousai character trailer.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZRH9fhLDEg

As described in the official website, the "Zesshousai" in Higan Zesshousai's name is more of a title, one bestowed upon the Hinomoto Netherworld's strongest swordsman (think "Kenpachi" from Bleach). She taught Fuji everything he knows about swordsmanship. To hear Fuji tell it in Disgaea 7, Higan Zesshousai is "the most vile, vicious, and strongest swordswoman in all of Hinomoto." Of course, excessive strength can be quite boring, so at the moment, Higan is training with the spear, so as to give herself something that might resemble a challenge.

Prior to airing the Disgaea 7 Higan Zesshousai trailer, Nippon Ichi Software also introduced two other characters from the main cast: Suisen and Ao.

Here's Suisen's trailer. Suisen is voiced by Maki Kawase, who also voiced Philomena in The Ancient Magus' Bride, Junko Konno in Zombie Land Saga, and Tokiko in Summer Time Rendering.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nP7pUUNSPdI

Suisen is described as the "Predictive Magistrate" of the Oedo Shogunate. He's an enemy to Fuji and company, since their party seeks to overthrow the Shogunate. Despite his looks, he's a powerful and intelligent biological weapon. He uses his processing power to absorb information and use it to make advanced predictions. He does, however, sometimes act like the young boy his appearance suggests him to be.

Ao, meanwhile, is voiced by Riona Imaizumi.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s5zBc8JyZIg

Ao is a young girl who sees Fuji as a father figure. Her devotion to "Father" causes her to lash out at anyone who gets between them with her ice powers. This chaotic reputation has earned her the nickname "Hyougaki", which translates to "Princess Icefang," but can also be read as "Freezy Punk."

Disgaea 7 launches in Japan on January 26, 2023. It'll be available on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5. A playable demo is currently available. No international release plans have been announced as of yet.

Disgaea 7 C4 Character Video

The next character trailer from Disgaea 7 introduces Ceefour (which could be romanized as "Seefour", "C4,” or "Shee-For"), a mysterious and maniacal lover of all things explosive. Like the party boy Shogun of Oedo, Weyasu, Ceefour is one of the game's main cast . She's voiced by Rina Kitagawa, who voiced Lunafreya Nox Fleuret in Final Fantasy XV, Cure Honey in HappinessCharge Precure, and Saya Kogatana from Keijo!!!!!!!.

Check out the Disgaea 7 Ceefour trailer below.

Via the official website, Ceefour is described as an up-and-coming personality in the Hinomoto Netherworld. She is actually a phantom thief, and goes by the name "Mouse☆Girl". She robs rich folk with connections to the unpopular Oedo Shogunate, and her Robin Hood antics have endeared her to the public. She's normally got a carefree and ditzy streak, but changes personality abruptly when she's confronted with weapons, explosions, or the smell of gunpowder. She's so hooked on gunsmoke, in fact, that she starts feeling sick without it. Throughout Disgaea 7 Ceefour collects the "Makai Shinki," a series of Netherworldly artifacts. She says they're for her "research."

The Ceefour trailer also shows off her phantom thief outfit and one of her signature attacks, "Ecstasy Bomb.” Ceefour runs through a crowd of foes, throwing grenades every which way. She then savors the explosions from afar. Another super move on her character page shows her firing a rocket launcher, sticking her leg out like one of the mariachis from the 1995 film Desperado.

Disgaea 7 launches on January 26, 2023 in Japan on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5.
