The latest Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket update confirmed that we will be able to trade cards in January 2025, but not all of them will be able to be traded. The announcement said it will only be possible for “certain cards.”

Here’s the exact portion of the announcement dealing with the trade feature for cards in Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket. While it does offer the launch window and promise the number that can be swapped with other players will grow, it doesn’t note what the limitations will look like. The game works like the actual card game, which means there are basic, stage 1, and stage 2 Pokemon, Trainer cards that involve items or ers, and more special ones. It could be possible that ex, full art, or Immersive could be off the table.

“In addition, we are aiming to add a feature that allows certain cards to be traded starting in January 2025. We are planning to gradually expand the selection of cards that are able to be traded.”

It is unknown if that could also be a reference to the fact that the library of available cards will grow. The announcement also confirmed more boosters will launch in 2024.

The official Pokemon YouTube channel has ed a video to celebrate the fifth anniversary for Pokemon Masters EX. It shows all of the rivals from past games, including “spinoff” titles like Legends Arceus.

Here is the trailer for the fifth anniversary of Pokemon Masters EX:

It features the main protagonists, rivals, and villains from the past Pokemon titles. As well, there will be a new main story chapter that seems to focus on Volo. It zooms in on him with the announcement, and the music temporarily takes on the leitmotif from his battle theme. More information on that, as well as the fifth anniversary, will come out on August 25, 2024.

In other news, Nemona and Scream Tail will appear as a new Sync Pair. You’ll be able to pull for them from August 18, 2024. Professor Oak and Nidorino will also appear as a free Sync Pair after you complete an event. He’ll be in the game from August 18, 2024. To commemorate the anniversary, you’ll be able to pull for previous limited-time Sync Pairs for a limited time. At most, you can get up to 100 pulls for free.

Arven and his Mabosstiff will appear in Pokemon Masters EX as a new Sync Pair. You’ll be able to pull from him from August 9 to August 27, 2024.

This trailer is for the new Peculiar Pokemon-Loving Pal event, which will start from August 10, 2024. It focuses on N of Pokemon Black & White after he becomes intrigued by Arven and his friendship with his Mabosstiff. However, thanks to N being a weirdo, Arven misunderstands N’s intentions and runs away from him.

The Arven and Mabosstiff Sync Pair has the Chockablock Cheer ive skill. After receiving an attack, if his HP is under 50%, he can reduce one usage of a skill that has Berry in its effect tag to heal both himself and his allies.

Arven's Japanese voice actor, Makoto Furukawa is still voicing Arven. Furukawa’s previous roles include Achilles in Fate/Apocrypha, Saitama in One Punch Man, and Sylvain in Fire Emblem: Three Houses. The English trailer did not reveal his voice actor. Arven was one of the major ing characters from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and he had an entire storyline focusing on him and his Mabosstiff.

During the Pokemon Presents 2024 showcase, a new mobile app called Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket is in development ahead of a 2024 debut. The Pokemon Company International, DeNA, and Creatures Inc designed a title that allows for quick battles, card collecting, and card trading.

The first trailer showed up during the presentation. It highlighted the ability to pick up packs as you go about your daily life. A person can then open and inspect the newly acquired cards. It is also possible to “immerse” oneself in them to get a better look at the art for special cards. It also noted that quick battles with others who own the game is possible.

As a reminder, the latest full, digital adaptation is Pokemon Trading Card Game Live. Its beta ended and the game fully launched in June 2023. It can be played on PCs and mobile devices.

Pokemon Trading Card Game Pocket will come to mobile devices in 2024. Pokemon TCG Live is available now on PCs and mobile devices. The last physical Pokemon TCG expansion is Paldean Fates, and it is immediately available worldwide.

Bandai Namco announced that the Japanese servers for the mobile game One Piece: Thousand Storm are shutting down on January 23, 2024 at 1pm JST. It stated the date established for end of service is subject to change without notice.

The developers of One Piece: Thousand Storm thanked players for their continued since the game’s release in 2016. The distribution and sale of in-game currency Rainbow Coins was halted on November 21, 2023.

One Piece: Thousand Storm is a free-to-play multiplayer co-op RPG developed by DeNA and published by Bandai Namco, where up to three players could participate in turn-based battles with popular characters in the One Piece franchise. The game initially released in Japan on April 21, 2016, and later launched worldwide on January 25, 2017. Bandai Namco shut down the global servers of One Piece: Thousand Storm on December 13, 2018.

In other One Piece news, the Los Angeles Rams revealed that it will hold a One Piece Game Collaboration Day on December 3, 2023. The event will include One Piece decoration, and merchandise will be given to attendees.

One Piece: Thousand Storm is shutting down on January 23, 2024. Until then, the game will be available on Apple iOS and Android devices only in Japan.

DeNa has announced a new MOBA game in cooperation with Shueisha titled JUMP: Assemble. The game is being developed for Android and iOS mobile devices. It will be released in Southeast Asia and East Asia (excluding Japan) first in 2024. There are plans to release the game in other regions gradually. [Thanks, Denfaminico Gamer!]

JUMP: Assemble is a 5-on-5 team battle game featuring popular characters from past titles that appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump, such as Dragon Ball, One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, and more. DeNa plans to add additional new playable characters to the game after the initial launch.

The announcement for JUMP: Assemble was first announced on DeNa’s official social media . The post included a link to DeNa’s official website, where a key graphic and further information about the game was shared. In the artwork, we can see some of the featured playable Weekly Shonen Jump characters that will be present in the game at launch.

Uniqlo has announced an collaboration between it and Pokemon Masters EX. You’ll be able to wear clothes of your favorite Pokemon character and let the world know that you’re a Pokemon Master. You’ll be able to start purchasing them from mid-June 2023.

While the shirts are not actually available yet, we already know the designs and prices for the tees. In total, there’ll be four different designs for the adult-sized tees, and five for the kids’. Uniqlo will stick to the classics for the Pokemon Masters EX collaboration. Characters who appear include Red (who was the protagonist in the Generation I games), Pikachu, and Eevee.

Hunter x Hunter Arena Battle, a strategic card battle game based on the franchise, will shut down. The announcement comes three years to the day since the game first launched in Japan on January 30, 2020. Operator Q-max stated that the game will shut down in Japan on March 31, 2023. Developed by DeNA and based on the popular manga by Yoshihiro Togashi, Hunter x Hunter Arena Battle takes the form of a card battle-style multiplayer game for mobile platforms. Its gameplay mechanics take inspiration from the board game Reversi, while blending in character collection and deck-building aspects. Players build decks of characters, then place the characters in ideal positions to perform attacks and do damage to their opponent. Like Reversi, placing a character down on certain tiles flips the tiles, triggering various effects. Players can acquire new characters and special ability cards by rolling the gacha. Characters from the series like Gon, Killua, and Chrollo were present, alongside their foes and allies. The game s solo and multiplayer play, using preset puzzle-like layouts players can tackle at their leisure.

According to the official announcement, microtransactions for the in-game currency Jenny will be suspended by February 28, 2023. Purchases made prior to January 26, 2023 will be eligible for refund. As a bonus for current players, Q-max will offer a final bonus promotion, featuring free Jenny and summoning tickets for seven of the in-game character banners. As the game inches towards its shutdown on March 31, 2023, various functions such as the external community site and in-game card library and deck code generator will become unavailable. Even the game's official website will be shut down by May 31, 2023.

Hunter x Hunter Arena Battle is available via the Japanese iOS and Android app stores. It will shut down on March 31, 2023. It does not have a global edition.

Nintendo announced it will establish a t venture with DeNA as of early April 2023. Nintendo Systems will function as a subsidiary of Nintendo, according to a press release. Its purpose is to strengthen the digitalization of its business, along with express interest in creating a "deeper" relationship with its customers. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

The express intent of this t venture and founding of Nintendo Systems is to research and develop new ways for Nintendo create valuable services for its consumer base with the assistance of DeNA. This is the official description of what the press release revealed. Nintendo will contribute 80% capital to the venture, whereas DeNA will contribute the other 20%. Additionally, officers and employees within Nintendo will serve as directors of Nintendo Systems.

Nintendo and DeNA initially announced the partnership between the two companies in 2015. Talks began in 2010. DeNA announced it would be handling operations of its mobile titles moving forward. The two companies since worked together to release mobile titles like Fire Emblem Heroes and Pokemon Masters EX. Both games have proven successful for Nintendo, with Fire Emblem Heroes generating a billion dollars in revenue as of February 2022. It remains one of Nintendo's most profitable mobile titles to date.

Touhou Danmaku Kagura, a rhythm game based on the popular Touhou series, is shutting down. Developer UnknownX announced the shutdown during a livestream event on July 18, 2022. The game itself will shut down on October 28, 2022, about fourteen months after its August 4, 2021 launch. It never received an international release.

Twitter @DanmakuEN, a fan-run news focused on Touhou Danmaku Kagura, posted translated screenshots of the announcement. These included messages from UnknownX Vice-President Tomohiro Ueda, and Commander-in-Chief Jyunya. The messages thanked players for their , and explained some of the reasoning behind the decision. Though over 5 million players ed the game since its launch, sales ended up "far below" forecasted levels. Despite attempts to boost sales via promotions and updates, things didn't turn around. A plan to continue service at a "greatly reduced" level was ultimately rejected, as it would not match the level of service desired. UnknownX also thanked Touhou Project creator ZUN.

In the meantime, players can continue to enjoy Touhou Danmaku Kagura until its end. UnknownX will continue to add new songs, characters and cards, and run scheduled events.

Danmaku Kagura is a rhythm game in the vein of mobile rhythm titles like BanG Dream! Girls Band Party. Gameplay consists of queuing up songs selected from Touhou Project titles and licensed music and hit notes in time with the music. Players acquire new characters through a gacha system to form their parties. Parties confer score benefits and other effects when triggered while in play.

Big West and DeNA announced that Uta Macross: Smartphone DeCulture will have its service shut down on June 28, 2022. The companies will hold a Finale event for the outgoing mobile title both in-game and physically. The physical exhibition and store will appear on the 6th floor of the Shinjuku Marui Annex from April 28 to May 9, 2022. The game will continue to have multiple events until the shutdown.

Uta Macross is a mobile rhythm game available exclusively in Japan since August 3, 2017. It features singers and pilots from all mainline Macross anime shows. The musician roster includes Lynn Minmay from the inaugural title, Basara Nekki and Mylene Jenius from Macross 7, Sheryl Nome and Ranka Lee from Macross Frontier, and the Walküre group from Macross Delta. Background cutscenes during gameplay also feature Variable Fighters piloted by the series' protagonists, such as Hikaru Ichijo and Hayate Immelmann.

The Macross series used to be largely inaccessible outside Japan. Its video games—including Uta Macross—and Super Robot Wars entries that include its titles appeared exclusively in the country. In April 2021, Harmony Gold and Big West signed a historic agreement. It effectively greenlit global releases for the franchise's movies and sequels. Flash Back 2012 is still available globally on the franchise's YouTube channel. Macross Plus: Movie Edition premiered in U.S. theaters on December 14, 2021.

The arrival of Leon and Charizard was announced through the official Pokemon Masters EX Twitter. Additionally, to celebrate the addition of the two a special Champion Time Rally will appear alongside their inclusion. Players can Sync Pair Scout for Leon and Charizard starting on February 25, 2021 and will be able to obtain the Sync Pair until March 17, 2021.

Leon and Charizard will be the first Master Sync Pair in Pokemon Masters EX. This means that by having Leon and Charizard on your team, the Sync Pair will provide a ive buff that will give your team a boost. This includes increased defense and attack power.

Additionally, a special retweet rally is currently underway. If the announcement tweet for Leon and Charizard, and Marnie and Morpeko, reaches a total of 30,000 retweets before the campaign ends, players will be rewarded with a total of 60 five star guaranteed Scout Tickets and 3,000 gems. This campaign will last until March 2, 2021 which gives players enough time to use these rewards and potentially add Leon and Charizard to their roster.

Marnie and Morpeko will make their debut in Pokemon Masters EX very soon. The arrival of the Sync Pair was announced through the official Pokemon Masters EX Twitter . Alongside this, a special retweet rally is underway which will grant players a plethora of rewards. Players can expect Marnie and Morpeko to arrive in Pokemon Masters EX on February 25, 2021 and be part of the Sync Pair Scout until March 17, 2021.

Her inclusion was teased during the release of the Piers and Obstagoon Sync Pair trailer. However, it was left fairly vague as to who would be ing the roster after the Dark-Type Gym Leader. Along with Marnie, Gloria and Zacian will make a temporary return to the Sync Pair Scout as well.

As mentioned previously, a special retweet rally is currently underway and will last until March 2, 2021. The goals include a total of 60 five star guaranteed scout tickets at maximum and a total of 3,000 gems. Additionally, a Champion Time Rally will begin on February 25, 2021 which will grant players another mass sum of gems. Rewards will be distributed based on retweets of the mentioned Twitter post.

Pokemon Masters EX has two unique Legendary Sync Pair events currently underway. One of which sees the return of Team Rocket leader Giovanni, who is accompanied by the Legendary Pokemon Mewtwo. Players can obtain, or finally max out the Sync Pair, for a limited time.

May and Mudkip will make their debut in Pokemon Masters EX soon. The official Twitter released an announcement video, showcasing the pair, which included a peek at their Sync Move. Pokemon Masters EX players can expect May and Mudkip to arrive later tonight (January 13, 2021) at 10pm PST.

As you can see in the Sync Move video below, Mudkip can be evolved into Marshtomp and then eventually into Swampert. Upon its final evolution, s will have access to Mega Swampert when using its Sync Move, Muddy Water, in combat.

In addition, a special event will arrive sometime soon. The Team Hoenn Unite! solo event will allow s to collect medals and exchange them for rewards. One of these rewards includes 5★ Guaranteed Scout Tickets, which will allow players to scout for a 5★ characters that are currently part of the roster. This does not apply to special event pairs like Giovanni and Mewtwo.

One of the more recent additions to Pokemon Masters EX is the N and Zekrom Sync Pair. This special duo was available to scout for a limited time. Gloria, from Pokemon Sword and Shield was also recently added to the collection of Pokemon Masters EX characters. She arrived alongside the Legendary Pokemon Zacian.

N and Zekrom will be the next Sync Pair added to Pokemon Masters EX. The highly anticipated duo will make their debut on December 23, 2020. As you might expect, a new story event will take place to coincide with the addition of the duo. Unlike other Legendary Sync Pairs, N and Zekrom can only be acquired through the Sync Pair Scout and not through a specific event.

The official Pokemon Masters EX Twitter shared a video to announce the pair. The video itself starts with footage from Pokemon Black and White, but quickly transitions into scenes from Pokemon Masters EX. N and Zekrom are show in battle briefly, then viewers are given a glimpse at the pair's Sync Move. You can watch the teaser video below.

DeNA will distribute enough gems for players to perform a x11 scout once N and Zekrom have been added to Pokemon Masters EX.
