At SDCC 2024, it seems Kain and Raziel figures with Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver I & II Remastered branding appeared. Mama Robotnik shared photos on Resetera with the logo and two figures, and GameSpot learned from Dark Horse Comics Vice President Randy Lahrman that the figures will release in August 2024. At time of writing, there is no remaster of the two Legacy of Kain games announced. The original game followed Raziel after Kain stripped him of his wings for daring to sur his master. The Elder God then makes the discarded Raziel into his soul reaver to defeat Kain to restore the Wheel of Fate and get revenge. The second game picks up directly after a confrontation between Raziel and Kain in the original. The Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver - The Dead Shall Rise prequel graphic novel is planned to come to Kickstarter and tell more of Raziel’s story.

The original Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver appeared on the Dreamcast, PlayStation, and PC. It was on Steam for a time, but Crystal Dynamics pulled it. Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 appeared on the PS2 and PC. It is still available on Steam and currently costs $6.99.

A popular Evangelion spin-off manga is coming to a close. Osamu Takahashi's Neon Genesis Evangelion - The Shinji Ikari Raising Project manga is due to receive its final omnibus volume. Publisher Dark Horse will release the series' 6th omnibus volume on December 28, 2022, to put an end to Shinji's alternate-dimensional adventures [Thanks, Crunchyroll!].

The Shinji Ikari Raising Project omnibus vol. 6 collects volumes 16 through 18 of the series.

Neon Genesis Evangelion - The Shinji Ikari Raising Project is based on the 2004 video game of the same name. The game was a life simulator in a similar vein to Princess Maker.  As a "raising"-style title, players manage the everyday routine of Evangelion protagonist Shinji Ikari, with the goal of training up his attributes to find success in life. The manga also incorporates elements from another, similar spin-off, Neon Genesis Evangelion: Angelic Days.

The series diverges dramatically from the plot of the original Evangelion anime series and the Rebuild of Evangelion films. It's more focused on the school-life aspect, as well as Shinji's relationships with his classmates and fellow pilots. Other prominent Evangelion characters also have their roles reshuffled. For example, Shinji's mother Yui is alive and well, while Misato is Shinji's homeroom teacher.

As separated volumes, the manga actually concluded in 2016 in Japan (2018 for the English edition). Omnibus editions are usually printed to save space for longer-running series, as well as save latecomers some money on acquiring the collected volumes.

Omnibus vol. 6 of Neon Genesis Evangelion - The Shinji Ikari Raising Project goes on sale on December 28, 2022. Separate volumes are available from retailers.

Does Kingdom Hearts confuse you? A book coming out next year might help. Kingdom Hearts Ultimania: The Story Before Kingdom Hearts III has been dated. For $44.99, you’ll be able to pick up a 256-page hardcover tome that came before it. It will debut on June 15, 2021. [Thanks, Wario64!]

Square Enix’s Ultimania books tend to be detail-heavy books that look at art, developer insights, storyboards and details regarding characters and lore that sometimes don’t make it into the actual games. As this is an entry covering everything before Kingdom Hearts III, it includes information from major, mainline games like Kingdom Hearts Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, as well as the spin-off supplemental games like Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days and Kingdom Hearts Coded.

There’s another update on the Final Fantasy XV Official Works English version, and it’s a positive one. The collection has been around in Japanese and French for a while, with it making its debut in Japan back in March 2018. Now it has a March 9, 2021 release date for the North American version. In addition, the product page for the $199.99 Final Fantasy XV Official Works Limited Edition is live. [Thanks, Wario64!]

The standard version of this collection is $39.99 for the hardcover, 208 page book It is filled with concept art, in-development notes, lore, and details from the developers about the game. There’s also plenty of artwork of Noctis, Gladiolus, Ignis, and Prompto throughout.

The limited edition is a little more elaborate and includes extra elements. The hardcover copy of the book is there, only with different cover and binding. You have a replica of Noctis and Lunafreya’s Lover’s Notebook. This is apparently an empty journal. Finally, there is a Final Fantasy XV acrylic art included to display vertically. Everything is packed in a collector’s case with art of Noctis and Lunafreya.

Final Fantasy XV Official Works will be available in North America in standard and limited editions on March 9, 2021. It is immediately available in both Japan and .

Yen Press already offer digital manga in the form of their Yen Plus manga magazine, which went from print to digital as recently as August. Come October, they'll be extending their digital presence to the iPad with a new proprietary storefront.

"We know that people are keen to get manga on the iPad, and we are keen to provide it," Yen founder, Kurt Hassler, revealed at the New York Comic-Con last weekend, as reported by About.com. "We are working with our Japanese licensors to try to get those agreements made, but in the meantime, we are diving in with some of our original works and some Korean series."

Hassler reveals that the subject of digital distribution for manga was one that wasn't even open for discussion with licensors until the last 6-8 months. "This is new territory for the publishers in Japan," Hassler said.

Yen's digital pricing will remain modest at $8.99 per digital volume, which, as About.com point out, is far better than the current industry "standard" of $1.99 per chapter.

Meanwhile, Dark Horse Comics, too, are launching their own digital comics service across the iPod, iPhone and iPad. Like Yen's storefront, The Dark Horse Bookshelf app will offer digital content at cheaper than the industry standard, with individual comics coming in at $1.49 per issue (down from the usual $2.00).

Dark Horse are trying some interesting experiments with their digital initiative. For one thing, they plan to offer an extensive list of free introductory #1 issues for their comic licenses, and also to bundle entire story arcs together for budget prices.

Dark Horse's Bookstore app will launch in January 2011 with synchronized releases with print starting in February. No details regarding the pricing scheme for their manga licenses has been revealed yet.
