Youtooz Makes Dangaronpa Monokuma and Junko Plush Toys

Spike Chunsoft and Youtooz announced the two companies teamed up for Danganronpa Junko Enoshima and Monokuma plush toys. Pre-orders are open for both until March 4, 2025 on the official Youtooz storefront. Each one costs $29.99. Both are expected to ship sometime in August 2025.

Both the Junko and Monokuma Danganronpa plush toys will be nine inches tall. Both feature embroidery and stitching around their faces for their expressions. Junko also wears a school uniform and has bear hairclips at the tops of her pigtails that look like Monokuma.

While both are still in development and not available yet, there are preliminary photos of both stuffed animals to give us an idea of how they’ll look when they’re released. Here's how those look:

Youtooz is well known for pop culture merchandise like figures and plush toys, so it isn’t unexpected for it to also make and sell Danganronpa products. One of the most recent announcements in 2025 was an Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Hero collection. There were also Persona 5 Tactica figures and a Dokibird figure released in 2024.

As for other Danganronpa merchandise, Good Smile Company is continuing to release figures. Its latest is a bunny girl version of Celestia.

The Danganronpa Celestia Ludenberg bunny girl figure will launch in September 2025. Pre-orders are open until March 26, 2025. Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is available on the PS4, PSP, Vita, Switch, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices.

The newest Danganronpa bunny girl scale figure is of Celestia Ludenberg, who debuted in the original game.

The next Danganronpa bunny girl figure arrives in 2025, and it will be a new take on Celestia Ludenberg. Good Smile Company announced it will debut in Japan in September 2025, and it will cost ¥39,600 when it does. It’ll be $310.99 in the US, and it is expected to appear everywhere by Q1 2026.

The reason for the high cost is that this is a 1/4 scale figure, compared to the 1/7 and 1/8 ones we typically see. This means she’ll be over 10 inches tall. (That’s about 260mm.) It is a static figure with no additional face plates or accessories for posing purposes. Her bunny girl outfit does look slightly different than others in the line, to accentuate the fact that she always tended to wear Gothic Lolita clothing in the game. She also holds a Joker playing card, as a nod to her role as the Ultimate Gambler. The fishnet stockings she wears are made of real fabric as well.

Here’s a closer look at how this version of Celestia should look when the figure launches.

There are already multiple Danganronpa figures in this bunny girl line. In 2023, Chiaki Nanami, Junko Enoshima, Kaede Akamatsu, and Kyoko Kirigiri came up. The Chiako one appeared in both black and white outfits. The latest promotional image from Good Smile Company on the product page alongside the Celestia reveal showed there will be a Mikan Tsumiki figure in the collection too.

Danganronpa character collaboration at Karaoke Manekineko

A Danganronpa collaboration campaign will appear at Karaoke Manekineko outlets across Japan throughout Q1 2025. The karaoke outlet chain will hold the event from late January 2025 until early March 2025.

The primary highlight of the campaign will be special karaoke rooms decorated with Danganronpa series characters. These rooms will exclusively appear at two of Manekineko's outlets at Ikebukuro Sunshine in Tokyo and Nankai in Osaka.

Most of Manekineko's other outlets across Japan will also sell Danganronpa-themed merchandise and drinks for the duration of the event. However, it will only allow people who are also using the karaoke services to make the purchases.

The non-alcoholic drinks themed after mainline Danganronpa entries will be available at 660 yen per cup. However, Manekineko will not allow takeaways so customers must drink them inside the karaoke rooms. The ingredients used for each drink are as follows:

  • Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc drink - Crushed jelly and Guava syrup with carbonated or regular water
  • Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair drink - Mango syrup with Calpis
  • Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony drink - Blue Hawaii syrup with Ginger ale

There has been an increase in Danganronpa series merchandise and collaboration as we enter 2025. The first title Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc originally appeared for the PSP in Japan on November 25, 2010, so 2025 will have the series' 15th anniversary. Earlier in January 2025, Dragonhorse revealed that it will release Fanthful-branded merchandise based on Danganronpa series characters in April 2025.

The Danganronpa collaboration campaign will run at Karaoke Manekineko outlets across Japan from January 29, 2025, until March 9, 2025.

Danganronpa chibi character merchandise by Fanthful

Dragonhorse has revealed a new lineup of Danganronpa character merchandise under the Fanthful brand. The items, which feature the series' characters in chibi proportions, are available for pre-orders via AmiAmi. The latter lists the items on not only its Japanese site but also the English site, which s worldwide shipping.

The company features eight characters from each of the three mainline series entries. The list includes Makoto and Kyoko from Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, Hajime and Chiaki from Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, and Shuichi and Kaede from Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony.

The merchandise prices will range from 1,980 yen (~$12.50) for an individual character's acrylic stand to 7,040 yen (~$44.50) for a box of eight random charm amulet packages. Note that the charm amulets and pin badges are being packed in blind random formats. That means even if one were to purchase the 8-in-1 box, there is still a good chance of getting duplicates of the same character item and missing another character in the collection.

The full character item lineup is available to check via Dragonhorse's announcement tweet on its X :

A long time has ed since a new mainline Danganronpa game has been released. Sadly, it doesn’t look like one is happening anytime soon, either. With , similar titles from creator Kazutaka Kodaka like The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy on the horizon, it appears this series is indefinitely on hold. This is likely due to a number of factors, such as the infamous Danganronpa V3 ending, which shouldn’t stop new Danganronpa games.

I will try my best to avoid spoilers, but it is pretty much inevitable. As such, if you have yet to finish Danganronpa V3, this is your chance to walk away and come back later. Still here? Well, the ending is controversial for a reason. It upends this entire series in more ways than one, but namely because of the many lies.

Image via Spike Chunsoft

As we find out, pretty much everything we knew about the series was a blatant lie or at least somewhat fake. The characters existed and participated in these games, but with fake personas. It is an intriguing commentary on the fans and the series, and one I’ve grown to appreciate in the years since. But the ending seemed to put a cap on the series.

After all, what is the point now that we know the truth? But I beg to differ. I feel like this series ended just as it was getting started. V3, and even the second game before it, did a lot to deconstruct and surprise players. Characters you might expect to be evil died while the more innocent “main characters” turned out to be killers. Despite these wonderful twists, such as the Kaede and Chiaki ones, there was still so much room for new turns.

For instance, what if a new game didn’t go the whole multiple survivors route? It would be a shock to have only the protagonist survive or, dare I say it, finish the final case by trying to get away with murder. This would be a fascinating twist on the courtroom sessions.

Alternatively, what about a game with multiple endings? Here, you could make choices that determine what conclusion you get. Maybe befriending a possible killer in one route results in multiple survivors, while alienating that Nagito or Ouma-like person results in them pinning a murder on you and walking away as the winner. Or they could even finish you off as their victim.

Danganronpa V3 controversial ending shouldn’t stop new Danganronpa games
Image via Spike Chunsoft

These are just a few options for a new Danganronpa. I’m not even bringing up the amazing character options. Think of all the Ultimates we haven’t seen yet. There is almost limitless potential for where the series goes next. In fact, I think it is better to look at the V3 ending this way.

For one, Spike Chunsoft and Kodaka (or a new team) could opt for a fresh reboot. Scratch the entire ending and start over with a new class and no expectations. Or, heck, set it in a new universe and move on to Ultimate university students. Another option would be to fill in the gaps between games.

Spoiler warning once more, but we now know the most recent game is actually the 53rd game in the universe. That means there are about 50 different games we haven’t played yet. That is an unbelievable amount of content to go back and look at. Could we see Rantaro’s game, for example? Or just a fresh case without any strings attached. This would even be the chance for them to go ahead and call a game Danganronpa 4 and show the fourth game.

Finally, there is the big one. What if we just got a direct sequel to Danganronpa V3? I know that sounds ridiculous with the ending, but there is nothing to hide now. The games can continue onward as they were. This time, though, we know the truth about the matter.

This route gives a lot of possibilities for how Spike can play with the characters and story. We can have more deranged students, such as someone who keeps switching between their old personality and their new, fake one. We could get to know the people behind the actual broadcasted game, not the weird Junko despair mess.

If anything, this gives the team a chance to avoid the pitfalls of the original trilogy. Instead of connecting all three games like before, just give us standalone experiences that are one and done death games. This leaves the room open for anything to happen. Whatever the case is, I sincerely Danganronpa V3 isn’t the ending for this series and we do get new Danganronpa games at some point.

Master Detective Archives: Rain Code was a solid distraction in 2023, but it fell just a tad short of what I want to see. And then there is The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy. After how much I hated the unnecessary battles in a story-driven game like 13 Sentinels, I expect this to be a similar situation. These fun diversions are exciting to try out, but I hope Kodaka gives us a new Danganronpa game sooner rather than later.

Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony is available for Android, iOS, Nintendo Switch, PS4, Vita, Xbox One, and PC.

Horror games are so iconic. Few games immerse the player in an evocative and memorable world as well as horror titles. Famous, classic Japanese horror series like Resident Evil and Silent Hill keep putting out games. In fact, the recent release of Silent Hill 2 shows there is plenty of room for more horror remakes. This are our picks for the classic horror games that need a sequel or remake next.

Siliconera Speaks Up: Horror Games That Need a Remake or Sequel 602v4s

I'm kind of loathe to think of Siren: Blood Curse as a remake of the original game since it's SO different in of…well, everything. It's more a reimagination, really. While a much more faithful remake of Siren would be nice, I'm one of those people who believe that if you're going to play it, you should play the original, horrible, janky version and get that true frustrating experience. It's part of the charm. -- Stephanie (1/2)

Siren 2, on the other hand, seemed to have genuinely wanted to provide some quality-of-life upgrades. As such, it would be nice to see a proper remake of that one. Heck, a Siren 3 that's similar to the first two in of gameplay and writing would be great too. It might be difficult though, since the main creative team for Siren seem to be at Bokeh Game Studio now and I don't know who even has the rights to the IP anymore. -- Stephanie (2/2)

I have to agree with Stephanie. Siren should come back. It's such a memorable story, and the gameplay was so unusual and different. It genuinely felt desperate and horrifying when you knew the Shibito were everywhere, you were outnumbered, and it would be so easy to panic and slip up. -- Jenni

I’m a wimp when it comes to horror games so I mostly stick to visual novels. Though not outright horror games, I keep hoping and praying for new games in the Zero Escape and Danganronpa series. They both have light spooky elements, especially 999 with the “knocking” part that actually made me jump when I first played it. Both series made me fall in love with the visual novel genre and I just need more of both. This is particularly painful for Zero Escape since I will stand by that Zero Time Dilemma’s most horrifying part was its terribly unfinished ending that needs a sequel someday. -- Cody

Danganronpa Kyoko Kirigiri Nendoroid - global pre-orders opened

Good Smile Company has opened worldwide pre-orders for its Nendoroid of Kyoko Kirigiri from Spike Chunsoft's Danganronpa series. People can place orders for the new chibi action figure on its Japanese international website at ¥6,800. Those who reside in the U.S. and Canada can instead head to Good Smile Online Shop U.S., where the same product is available at $43.99.

Earlier in October 2024, the company shared a sample image of the Nendoroid prototype that has been fully painted. However, it did not reveal the chibi figure's pre-order and release windows prior to today's announcement. The figure will now appear worldwide in 2025, although North America will get it later in the final quarter of the year.

With pre-orders for the Nendoroid now available, Good Smile Company has also published more sample images that show the items that it will include in the set. It will have three facial expression parts for Kyoko: a normal face, a blushing face, and a serious face that depicts her talking during an interrogation session.

The set will also come with Cup Gokubuto noodles that the owner can actually splash on her head. People who order the Kyoko Kirigiri Nendoroid set on Good Smile Company's web stores can also receive a bonus exclusive base that features the Japanese Danganronpa logo and the name "Kirigiri Kyouko" written in katakana.

Here's a closer look at the new Nendoroid:

Good Smile Company will close the pre-order window for the Danganronpa Nendoroid of Kyoko Kirigiri on November 20, 2024. It will start shipping the finished figures from Japan in May 2025 and North America in Q4 2025.

Danganronpa Kyoko Kirigiri Nendoroid Is a Striking Figure

Good Smile Company shared an update on the Kyoko Kirigiri Nendoroid, and the Danganronpa figure is now in the painted prototype phase. There’s no expected release date for her yet, but the progress update does mean we could see pre-orders appear in the near future.

Kyoko first appeared at Smile Fest 2024 in June 2024. At that phase of development, only concept art of the character was available. It featured her in her suit, tie, and skirt, with her gloves on and her hand on her hip. The photo of the painted prototype shows the character in the exact same pose.

Here’s how the Danganronpa Kyoko figure looks so far:

https://twitter.com/GoodSmile_US/status/1841280714320277912

Back when the this Nendoroid was first announced, she was accompanied by a reveal of one of Nagito Komaeda from Danganronpa 2. Pre-orders for that one actually already showed up in stores, and he costs $55.99. He’s expected to ship out in May 2025.

There’s no release window for the Kyoko Kirigiri Danganronpa Nendoroid yet. However, since she is in the painted prototype phase, we could see pre-orders open in the next few weeks. Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is available on the PS4, PSP, Vita, Switch, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices.

Danganronpa Characters Play Mahjong in Riichi City Event

A Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc collaboration event is now available on mahjong game Riichi City until July 30, 2024. The collaboration will feature popular Danganronpa characters Makoto Naegi, Kyoko Kirigiri, Celestia Ludenberg, and Junko Enoshima as playable characters, as well as mastermind and series mascot Monokuma. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

Each of the 4 Danganronpa main characters will receive a new Chinese-inspired design as well as a swimsuit costume for the collaboration. As part of the plot of the event, Danganronpa protagonist Makoto Naegi travels back in time to the world of Riichi City and gets involved in a mahjong-themed mystery after losing his memories.

Alongside the rest of the Danganronpa characters, Makoto has to uncover the truth about what happened at the Shinjin-O tournament, and avoid being punished by the evil mastermind Monokuma. Alongside the regular mahjong games featured in Riichi City, the event will include gameplay mechanics reminiscent of the class trials present in the Danganronpa series, including the iconic truth bullets.

As a reminder, the Danganronpa series was featured on March 2024 in another crossover with tower defense game Oshiro Project: RE -Castle Defense-, focusing on the first two titles, Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair.

Riichi City is readily available on Android and iOS mobile devices as well as PC via Steam. The Danganronpa series is available on the Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC.

New Danganronpa Nendoroids Are Nagito and Kyoko

Good Smile Company’s Smile Fest 2024 involved many figure reveals, and Danganronpa Nendoroids of Kyoko Kirigiri and Nagito Komaeda appeared among them. Both are early in development, so only concept art of the two characters appeared.

Kyoko Kirigiri played a major role in the original Danganronpa and was one of the primary protagonists. Her Nendoroid involves her wearing her standard school uniform. She’ll also wear her trademark gloves and have a ribbon in her hair. Meanwhile, Nagito Komaeda was a major figure in Danganronpa 2. His outfit is based on his appearance there, so he wears his white shirt with red marking and green overcoat.

Here’s the official reveal that showed both of the characters’ designs.

There have been quite a few Danganronpa Nendoroids released so far. Things started with Makoto Naegi and Monokuma ones. Then, there was the Junko Enoshima one. (She appeared as a Pop Up Parade figure too!) A Chiaki Nanami Nendoroid also showed up.

The Danganronpa Nendoroids of Kyoko Kirigiri and Nagito Komaeda are in development. Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc is available on the PS4, PSP, Vita, Switch, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices. Danganronpa 2: Goodbye Despair can be found on the PS4, PSP, Vita, Switch, Xbox One, PC, and mobile devices.
