Ahead of the Umamusume: Pretty Derby English debut in June 2025, Cygames started sharing trailers for some of the horse girl characters we’ll see at launch, and there are now six more to watch. Some of these include units who are established as being some of the stronger ones to back in the game, such as Daiwa Scarlet, Maruzensky, Taiki Shuttle, and Vodka. 

The first video in this latest patch going over Umamusume characters is Daiwa Scarlet. She’s known for being part of Team Spica alongside Special Week, Silence Suzuka, and Vodka. (However, she also doesn’t get along with Vodka due to clashing personalities and sense of styles.) 

Sure enough, the Vodka trailer came up after that. She’s a bit more laid back, but also doesn’t get along with Daiwa Scarlet.  

The horse girl to be introduced after Vodka was Maruzensky, who is on Team Rigil with El Condor , Narita Brian, and Taiki Shuttle in Umamusume. She’s one of the more formal and mature characters.

Agnes Tachyon showed up after that, and she’s a more scientific and intelligent type of character. She’s not associated with any particular team. 

Meanwhile, Taiki Shuttle first appeared earlier this week. She’s one of the few characters to use some English words in her introductory video.

Finally, Cygames closed out the week by sharing an Umamusume trailer for the horse girl Sakura Bakushin 0. Like Agnes, she isn’t associated with some of the established teams. However, she’s pretty well known due to being a Tracen Academy class representative.

The Umamusume: Pretty Derby English release date is June 26, 2025, and we’ll be able to pre for the global version of the game on the PC via Steam and Android and iOS mobile devices on April 28, 2025. It is already available in Asia. The new Umamusume: Cinderella Gray anime is on Amazon, and other anime adaptations are on Crunchyroll.

As part of the EVO Japan 2025 reveals, Arc System Works and Cygames set a release date for the Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising Galleon DLC. After being first teased back in March 2025, she’s now set to debut on May 28, 2025. There’s also a new trailer that actually shows off gameplay. 

Galleon, who you may better recognize as the Earth Dragon Galleon the Gold, has been a part of the main mobile game for quite some time. Here, she’s following previous Season 2 character Sandalphon. The two minute video begins by showing an explosion of rocks as she descends. Then, she attacks by swinging her staff, using assaults from rocks, and summoning a rocky arm from below. Her earth elemental magic seems to be woven into all of her attacks, allowing her to attack nearby or at range.

Lots of game-related news came up at EVO Japan 2025 this year. Fahkumram will return to Tekken 8 as DLC, and a Pac-Man stage and cosmetics will appear around the same time. Activision Blizzard will add Street Fighter skins to Overwatch 2. Mai Shiranui is being turned into a plush toy by Good Smile Company.

Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC, and Galleon will appear as DLC in the game on May 28, 2025.

Ahead of the Umamusume: Pretty Derby game global debut, Cygames released the four Umayuru: Pretty Gray anime episodes in English online. This is a short series created by Scooter Films, which was also responsible for the original 24-episode Umayuru. All episodes of this latest series are available on YouTube, with a dedicated playlist offering easy access to them. The new Umamusume: Cinderella Gray anime is on Amazon.

Things kicked off with “Brutal Standoff.” That began by focusing on Cinderella Gray and Oguri Cap at Solefall Faire. The two are running a takoyaki stand. To see English subtitles, turn on closed captions. However, they find they have competition from other characters like Gold Ship and Mejiro McQueen. 

Episode 2 is called “Yatsuhashi Blight: The Seiun Case Files.” It features the horse girls visiting Yatsuhashi Village, a small town with mysterious urban legends surrounding it. Seiun Sky and King Halo arrive to figure out what’s really happening. They’ll need to turn to characters like Mejiro Bright and Tsurumaru Tsuyoshi as they investigate. 

The third episode of the Umayuru: Pretty Gray Umamusume anime shorts is “Destiny’s Tide: The Turbulent Relay.” This gets into more actual racing. Biwa Hayahide leads a training session for the Spring Fan Fest, with characters like Narita Taishin, No Reason, Tanino Gimlet, and Winning Ticket participating in the practice. 

The final episode of this series of shorts is called “The Art of Spectating,” and it just released. It features characters heading to Nakayama Racecourse to watch some of the races. We begin by seeing Chrono Genesis, Curren Chan, Gran Alegria, and Loves Only You showing up to an event. 

Scooter Films may sound familiar! In addition to this series, it also worked on anime shorts for BanG Dream, Hatsune Miku: Project Sekai, and Tesla Note.

Cygames announced the pre-registration period started for the English version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby, and that includes a debut celebration launch bundle with Carats for gacha banner pulls. There is also a contest tied to the official social media that includes a trip to Japan, Amazon gift cards, and character keychains as rewards. 

The pre-registration bonus for Umamusume, which will also be doled out to everyone who plays the English version at launch, is a Debut Celebration Present with Carats as the main reward. Here’s everything in that bundle:

• 45 Alarm Clocks to allow you to retry an Objective Race a character lost.

In the case of the contest, people need to follow the official X , retweet the designated post, and be the age of majority (in many cases 18) in their country. One person will win two round-trip plane tickets to Tokyo, Japan, and they must travel from one of the cities specified in the official rules to use them. Following a confirmation of a livestream discussing the global version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby and Cygames saying a demo would be at the 2025 Kentucky Derby, we have an English release date for the mobile and PC version of the game on Steam. The company took to social media and the showcase to say we’ll see the simulation on June 26, 2025. 

Of course, prior to that, we’ll be able to sign up to show interest in playing Cygames confirmed that preregistration will begin on April 28, 2025. We will be able to find the listing for the PC version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby on Steam, while the mobile ones will be on Apple’s App Store and Google Play. Cygames didn’t note if there will be any preregistration rewards for hitting certain tiers, though that sort of announcement might come up once the pages are actually open and live.

During the PAKA LIVE TV livestream on April 27, 2025, we’ll finally learn more information about the global release, aka the English launch, of Umamusume: Pretty Derby. The stream will start from 11am UTC, which would convert to 4am PT/7am ET.

As a note, the stream will only be available in Japanese. You can catch it on the official PakaTube channel, which is a channel specifically for Umamusume: Pretty Derby. The stream will likely also include information for the main Japanese server of the game.

Umamusume: Pretty Derby first came out in Japan in 2021, three years after its original release window of 2018. It’s part of the Umamusume multi-media franchise, which also includes manga, anime, and movies. In Umamusume: Pretty Derby, you are a trainer at Tracen Academy, which is a training school for umamusume, or horse girls. When you start the game, you can choose which girl you want to train. Throughout her scenario, you can raise her to become the star racer and center of her year. There’s also a story mode that focuses more on an ensemble cast.

Since the game came out, it’s been ridiculously popular, becoming the third highest-grossing mobile game within its first month. As of May 2024, it made over 2.4 billion JPY in revenue and, as of June 2024, it sured 21 million s. All those stats are with Japan as its only market, as well.

Umamusume: Pretty Derby is readily available on Windows PC and mobile devices in Japan. The global version of Umamusume: Pretty Derby is in development, and we’ll hear more news about it on April 27, 2025.

Cygames, developer of the horse girl sim Umamusume: Pretty Derby and other games, announced it will be a sponsor for the 151st Kentucky Derby being held on May 2, 2025. The company will have a booth at the event with that mobile title and other ones between May 2-3, 2025. 

The sponsor part of the arrangement will come up with the 1,100 meter Grade III Unbridled Sidney Stakes. The company’s imagery will be present during that race. It will be held at 1:44pm ET on May 2, 2025. This also feels like it is something of a reference to the Umamusume series, as only fillies that are three years old or older can participate in it. As a reminder, there are no male characters to raise and race in the mobile game.

As for the booth, Cygames announced that four games will be playable at its 151st Kentucky Derby, which could hint at an 2025 release for one of them. Three of the titles showing up are available. These are Granblue Fantasy Relink, Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising, and Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond. Umamusume: Pretty Derby is the only one not available worldwide yet, though Cygames teased a launch since 2023. After appearing at the 2023 Google for Games Developer Summit, in June 2024 the developer officially opened a site and social media . Some of the latest social media posts discussed elements of the game’s world and the Umamusume: Cinderella Gray anime series. 

Cygames will sponsor the 151st Kentucky Derby and have a booth with games at the event between May 2-3, 2025 and while there’s no worldwide release date for Umamusume: Pretty Derby yet, it is available on mobile devices in Asia.

Netflix and Cygames shared a new trailer for The Summer Hikaru Died anime adaptation, and we can now see Yoshiki and Hikaru’s early reveal in Japanese with English subtitles. The show is set to debut on the service in 2025, following the manga and light novel’s debut.

The story in The Summer Hikaru Died follows two young high school students living in a rural town. However, Yoshiki realized that the “Hikaru” that came back after his friend went into the woods on a task for his family isn’t the Hikaru he knew and loved. It’s something/someone else. These series begins as he confronts this entity about their identity, and we see that moment captured in this new trailer for the show. What follows is an exploration into the relationship between Yoshiki and “Hikaru,” which includes insights into his past with Hikaru. The trailer hints at some of this by showing ing characters and flashes of some notable situations.

We will need to wait to see the anime adaptation of the series. However, new physical releases are on the way. The first volume of the light novel take on the series launches on April 15, 2025. Before that, we’ll see the fifth volume of the manga. That debuts on March 25, 2025.

The Summer Hikaru Died anime is in development ahead of a 2025 streaming debut on Netflix. Yen Press handles both the manga and light novel releases outside Japan.

Yet another new Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising DLC character is on the way, and this time it is the mortal form of the earth dragon Galleon the Gold. She’ll the game in Spring 2025. However, there’s no exact release date for her and the 2.10 patch just yet.

We already had an idea Galleon would be showing up in the game. Back when Season 2 was announced, Cygames and Arc System Works went over the new characters we can expect to see. Sandalphon appeared first. In the original Granblue Fantasy, she uses many earth-based attacks. Some of these include her Terrestrial Pulse charged attack and her Bedrock Rain skill. We could see these, or attacks based on them, in the fighting game.

Here’s the Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising Galleon DLC teaser trailer. It shows the the character when she enters the field. However, none of her moveset appears in the video. Instead, it’s just a hint at how she’ll eventually look and sound.

As for the rest of Season 2 of Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising, we’ll also see three more characters the cast. One is Wilnas, who is set to show up in Summer 2025. In Fall 2025, we’ll see Meg. Finally, that will end in 2026 with Ilsa. 

Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC, and Galleon will be the next DLC character in Spring 2025. The original game in the series appeared on the PS4 and PC.

Cygames announced that it’ll release Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond on June 17, 2025. It’ll come out for the Windows PC and mobile devices. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

The game will be available in Japanese, Korean, English, and both Traditional and Simplified Chinese. You can only play Simplified Chinese on the PC version, though.

Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond is an online digital card game that plays like an evolved form of the original Shadowverse. New mechanics include super-evolution, Shadowverse Park, and an AI advisor. You start each battle with two SEP, and you can expend one to activate super-evolution on any follower. Super-evolved followers can activate their Evolve and Super-Evolve abilities, gain Rush, gain +3 to ATK and DEF, cannot take damage, and cannot be destroyed by abilities during the player’s turn.

The AI advisor is available in practice matches, and is still a beta feature. You can use this to learn how to play the game, as well as pick up basic rules and strategies. Shadowverse Park, which is also a new feature, is a World where you can wander around and engage in fun activities using a personalized avatar. You can socialize with other players, play card games with them, and participate in events like tournaments.

Other information that appeared include details on new leader characters. This includes Portalcraft Leader Dreizehn (Elsie Lovelock, Yu Sasahara), Forestcraft Leader Lovesign (Nazeeh Tarsha, Jun Fukuyama), and Heavencraft Leader Esperanza (Erin Nicole Lundquist, Mamiko Noto). More information on the game is available via the official Shadowverse website.

Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond will come out on June 17, 2025 for the Windows PC and mobile devices.

The major 2.0 Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising update arrives on February 26, 2025, and it adds Sandalphon and Pop Team Epic avatars. Sandalphon is $7.99 alone, which also nets you a Avatar, Badge, Battle Kit, and digital figure, and the Pop Team Epic add-on is $5.99. 

First, we already knew Sandalphon was on the way. However, now that he’s about to properly debut, there’s a trailer showing him off. Here’s how he looks when used in a fight:

Sandalphon can also be acquired in the Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising Character 2 and Deluxe Character 2. The prices weren’t confirmed for those yet, but the first ones cost $34.99 and $49.99. He’ll be followed by Galleon in Spring 2025, Wilnas in Summer 2025, Meg in Fall 2025, and Ilsa in early 2026. The Deluxe Edition adds color variants, weapon skins, a Sandalphon Dark Avatar, and the Canaan Shrine stage.

As for the Pop Team Epic Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising DLC, that gives you the Avatars for Popuko and Pipimi. When used as a partner, anime actors Ryusei Nakao and Norio Wakamoto return to voice both. You also get profile badges for each one.

Cygames has revealed the full roster of DLC characters who will appear as part of the Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising Season 2. The new will contain a total of five characters, starting with Sandalphon in February 2025 and ending with Ilsa in early 2026.

Sandalphon, who had been revealed since as early as July 2024, will headline the new on February 26, 2025. Cygames has also revealed the other four characters who will gradually appear at a seasonal pace. It will add Galleon in Spring 2025, Wilnas in Summer 2025, Meg in Fall 2025, and Ilsa in early 2026.

Cygames has also ed a new official teaser trailer for the Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising Season 2 on the series' YouTube channel. Note that only Sandalphon has received a full model and gameplay segment in the trailer, as he is primed for release in late February 2025. The other four characters are still only shown with their respective artworks, and it will take time until Arc System Works finishes working on their models gradually.

Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising is readily available worldwide on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC. The first character season is also available, and it contains Lucilius, Vane, Beatrix, Versusia, Vikala, and NieR: Automata's 2B.

Zombie Land Saga will be appearing on the big screen with the movie Yumeginga Paradise. It’ll come out in 2025, though there aren’t any further details about the release window.

It starts with a quick recap of how protagonist Sakura died at the beginning of the show. Then, it shows her and the rest of Franchouchou’s career as they worked to become top idols with manager Kotaro’s help. We don’t see any new footage in the trailer, as MAPPA is likely still working on it.

Zombie Land Saga came out in 2018, produced by MAPPA, Avex Pictures, and Cygames. It stars an aspiring idol and high schooler, Sakura Minamoto, who dies one morning after a truck hits her. Ten years later, a man named Kotaro Tatsumi brings Sakura, along with six other “legendary” girls, to have them form an all-zombie idol group and revitalize the Saga Prefecture. Though it’s an idol anime, it has elements of horror and comedy. Critics and fans also praised the depiction of Lily Hoshikawa, as well as her character arc.

Cygames filmed and ed a live-action tokusatsu episode based on Carrotman to promote Umamusume. The entire episode, which is nineteen minutes long, is available for free on YouTube.

The plot of Carrotman follows Emperor Fukenko (literally “unhealthy”) ordering his underling Lardlon to make people unhealthy, which will in turn make them easier to conquer. Carrotman does his best to fight against the forces of evil and calories, but Lardlon overpowers him. Then, Biko Pegasus—the umamusume most obsessed with tokusatsu and sentai stuff—jumps in to save him. They then fight off Lardlon together.

As one might be able to infer from the lengthy live-action production of Carrotman, Cygames went all out for Umamusume. Musician and singer Hironobu Kageyama sang the opening theme, “Nutrition Warrior Carrotman.” He is akin to the father of anison (anime songs) after his popularity with them in the 1980s brought him success. He sang the title tracks for Saint Seiya and Dragon Ball Z, and is also one of the founders of JAM Project.

Tomokazu Sugita also appeared in this commercial, voicing every male character other than Carrotman. Sugita is a prominent voice actor, whose career started in 1998. He’s appeared in many anime and games, such as Gintoki in Gintama, Sakamoto in Sakamoto Days, Joseph in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Yusuke in Persona 5, Chrom in Fire Emblem Awakening, and more.

Umamusume: Pretty Derby is available on mobile devices and Windows PC in Japan. A global version is in development.

There are three different versions of the Umamusume: Pretty Derby starting gates curtains: silver, gold, and rainbow. The color of the starting gates in-game correspond to the rarity of the horse girl you got. Like the real-life gacha, you actually cannot choose which curtain you get. Instead, it costs 6800 JPY ($44) for a random curtain. To increase your chances of getting one of the rarer versions, you can also buy a 10-pull for 68,000 JPY ($439.80).

Umamusume: Pretty Derby is one of the more profitable and popular franchises from Cygames, with the company announcing in May 2024 that the game made them over 2.4 billion JPY in revenue. This number s for over 70% of the money Cygames made on mobage between February 2021 and March 2024, and that’s not even taking into consideration profits from the anime, movies, and merchandise. The game focuses on collecting horse girls based on real-life race horses, raising them, and then racing them. It also features a main story mode, as well as individual character stories you can play through after pulling a girl.

Umamusume: Pretty Derby is readily available on mobile devices. The English version of the game is in development.
