CyberStep has released a new visual novel titled Doki Doki Maid-Bu in Japanese and Shirogane Maid Club in English. The new title boasts of around 40 languages. However, the company has also acknowledged the use of AI for the visual novel's translations and illustrations.

The new visual novel is available on Nintendo Switch and the PC gaming platform Steam. The Switch version lists pretty much all languages Nintendo has formally ed; in addition to the common Western European (EFIGS) and Eastern Asian (CJK) languages, it also s Dutch, Portuguese, and Russian.

However, it is the Steam release that garners more attention, as it lists a whopping 40 languages that include the likes of Igbo, Xhosa, and Maori. There is an obvious catch to this, though. CyberStep's Japanese press release revealed that this game is part of the PandaShojo brand, which intends to make Japanese visual novels accessible to people worldwide by using automatic machine translations for over 50 languages.

CyberStep is originally known for releasing online titles like Onigiri and CosmicBreak Universal. However, in more recent years, the company has been more frequently releasing visual novels on Steam. Earlier in November 2024, it released Nurse Call and Me and Gamer Girl with for 15 languages.

Translations are not the only activities CyberStep used machine programs to release these visual novels. The Steam pages also have an AI-generated content disclosure, where the company acknowledged that it used AI to produce some of the illustrations in the visual novels.

Shirogane Maid Club is now available worldwide on Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam.

CyberStep revealed that it is currently developing CosmicBreak Slash for PCs. It will release the hack-and-slash game digitally on Steam this Winter. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

The Japanese game company explained that CosmicBreak Slash will be an action spin-off game to the multiplayer online shooter game CosmicBreak. Slash will let players directly control characters from the online game with action gameplay. The press release also noted that this title will be a single-player game.

CosmicBreak originated as an online multiplayer shooting game for PCs in December 2008. It featured a character customization system where players could create a mech or a female humanoid as their avatar. The online game was available separately in multiple regions. However, CyberStep eventually closed all of them.

In 2020, CyberStep unveiled CosmicBreak Universal as an improved and globally unified version of the original CosmicBreak. It has released the game worldwide on Steam. Universal appeared first as a beta test client that ran from January 2021 to February 2021. The company formally started its official service for the online game in April 2021.

CosmicBreak Slash will be available digitally on PC via Steam in Winter 2021. CyberStep will publish more information on the single-player spinoff game at a later time.

CyberStep has opened the Beta Test for CosmicBreak Universal on January 20, 2021. The online game client is available on Steam as an Early Access title. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

CosmicBreak Universal is the improved successor title to CosmicBreak, a massively multiplayer online shooter game that s PvP battles of up to 30-vs-30 players. It is also known for letting players customize their avatars to either a chibi-sized robot or a humanoid girl. As implied by the title, this new game will be available worldwide with multiple languages under a single client.

The original CosmicBreak launched in Japan in 2008. It was noted to last 12 years in the country, until the game was shut down in August 2020 to make way for the new Universal. Although the online game was also released in other countries, none of them lasted as long as it did in Japan. The North American client of CosmicBreak was launched in 2010 and shut down in March 2019.

In 2015, CyberStep put up a Kickstarter campaign for CosmicBreak 2, a sequel to the original game. Although the online shooter was eventually released in the West as Cosmic League, it didn't last long and was outlived by the original CosmicBreak in both America and Japan. The North American version closed in April 2017, while the original Japanese client lasted until June 2020.

The beta version of CosmicBreak Universal is immediately available on PCs via Steam. CyberStep expects the early access to last approximately 3-5 weeks before the full game is launched. The s' save data will be reset on the full launch.

After a number of early announcements, CyberStep has finally released console launch dates for Onigiri. While originally scheduled to appear on the Xbox One at the beginning of September, and included in the list of items appearing on the PlayStation Store on September 29, the free-to-play MMORPG has solid October release dates for both systems.

The Xbox One version of Onigiri will arrive first. People will be able to it on October 2. The PlayStation 4 version will follow four days later on October 6.

Onigiri is an anime-inspired MMORPG where players not only interact with each other, but NPCs that their party. Eight players will be recruited into your group and spending time with them improves their abilities and allows insights into their personal stories. It is also immediately available on Windows PCs.

Sony has confirmed via the PlayStation Blog that Onigiri, an anime-inspired, free-to-play MMORPG will come to the PlayStation 4 on September 29. This is a little over a year after the game appeared in Japan in April 2014, and a few weeks after the game’s English Xbox One release earlier this month.

While Onigiri’s name means riceball, it may be better to think of the title as being “oni” and “giri.” Players create an avatar who happens to be a descendent of oni, a sort of yokai. As such, its their duty to fight the Kamigui and Goikkou with their eight companions. The Partner System allows NPCs to your group, with affection systems that make allies more powerful and likely to share their backstory if you communicate with them.

There eight weapon types in Onigiri, which will come in handy since the battle system relies on hit and run techniques. There is no automatic targeting, so players must learn to master their weapons to perfectly time attacks. In most cases, monsters will have attacks that, if dodged, allow a player to capitalize with a combo. If someone doesn’t dodge, however, the enemy will launch into a chain attack.

Onigiri is immediately available in English on Windows PCs. The PlayStation 4 English version will be available after the PlayStation Store updates tomorrow night, and the Xbox One should be available soon.
