CyberAgent ed a new key visual for the anime adaptation of The Summer Hikaru Died, as well as visuals and descriptions of the two main characters. The show will start airing in Summer 2025. [Thanks, PR Times!]

The key visual for the anime depicts Yoshiki and Hikaru standing in a field together. Hikaru is smiling at Yoshiki, who has the image of a red-eyed Hikaru whose face is half-covered in something bizarrely inhuman on his back. As for the character visuals, Yoshiki looks kind of sad while Hikaru is striking a cheery pose.

The cast for The Summer Hikaru Died so far consists of:

• Hikaru: Shuichiro Umeda (Akira in Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, Kazuhiko in Too Many Losing Heroines!)
• Yoshiki: Chiaki Kobayashi (Mash in Mashle, Gabimaru in Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku)

The Summer Hikaru Died is a BL horror and slice-of-life series that focuses on two teenagers in rural Japan. Yoshiki discovers that an eldritch being had consumed and taken over the body of his best friend Hikaru after Hikaru’s death. Though this version of Hikaru has the same personalities and memory as the original, he’s a completely different creature. Yoshiki opts to stay with this Hikaru nonetheless, despite other eldritch beings and hunters make it difficult.

The anime adaptation of The Summer Hikaru Died will start airing in Summer 2025 on Netflix.

CyberAgent (the parent company of Cygames) has acquired Nitroplus. It purchased 72.5% of its stocks for 16.4 billion JPY (around $102 million). [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

According to the report, CyberAgent acquiring NItroplus as a subsidiary will have little impact on its finances for the September 2024 period. It’s well within the costs that it revealed to investors back in November 2023.

For reference, Nitroplus is a company that creates contents for multiple mediums, including novels, games, and anime. Works from Nitroplus include Song of Saya, Touken Ranbu, Togainu no Chi, DRAMAtical Murder, and Steins;Gate. Some of these works, such as Togainu no Chi and Touken Ranbu, are in collaboration with other companies or are part of a separate branch than the main one.

Nitroplus will be allowed to maintain its work culture, as well as continue to release works in genres it’s interested in. CyberAgent letting the workers do so is part of why Nitroplus accepted the offer. Another reason is because becoming a subsidiary of CyberAgent would let Nitroplus focus on content creation and production, and is better for the overall stability of the company’s future.

As of June 26, 2024, Nitroplus has become a subsidiary of CyberAgent. Other subsidiaries include Sumzap, Cygames, and Abema.

An in-game Idoly Prise crossover event with Love Live Sunshine will run from November 28, 2023 to December 20, 2023 in the mobile game. The three second-year idols Chika Takami, You Watanabe, and Riko Sakurauchi from Aqours will be available to collect in the gacha.

To celebrate the launch of the collaboration, the first ten gacha rolls will be free. Also, the chance to receive a 5-star idol will be doubled during the event period. By logging in during the event period, players can receive Love Live Sunshine outfits for the Idoly Pride characters, as well as other gifts.

Besides the gacha, players can play the game with a special version of Aqours’ debut single "Kimi no Kokoro wa Kagayaiteru kai." It will feature only Chika, You, and Riko singing this version of the song. A full 3D music video for the song will be added as well. Additionally, a fully voiced event story featuring the Aqours second-year idols will be available to read.

To celebrate the holiday season, a Christmas costume pack for each of the Aqours will be available from the in-game shop. Purchasing a pack will allow the player to dress the girls in festive outfits.

CyberAgent announced that The Promised Neverland Escape from the Garden will arrive on Android and iOS devices in Spring 2021. A teaser website has been opened for the app game, alongside information regarding various pre-registration rewards. [Thanks, 4Gamer!]

These rewards include in-game currency which will allow for players to roll on banners. Naturally, players will be able to acquire new characters through these banners. If a total of 63,194 s pre- for The Promised Neverland Escape from the Garden, 3,000 gems will be distributed upon release.

The asymmetrical game will force four players to cooperate as they attempt to escape from the garden. Players can use various items, including weapons, to achieve objectives and escape. More information about this smartphone title will be revealed at a later date.

The Promise Neverland is set to appear in Identity V as part of a crossover event. Players can receive unique The Promised Neverland skins for various characters in the asymmetrical horror title. This includes Emma, Norman, Ray, and Isabella. These skins with only be available for players to obtain for a limited time.

The Promised Neverland Escape from the Garden will arrive on Android and iOS devices to Japanese audiences in Spring 2021.
