Critical Role and Konami announced on social media that, in honor of the debut of the Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster collection, there will be a special one-shot episode based on the games. That will be held at 7pm PT/10pm ET on March 11, 2025. There’s no placeholder for it on YouTube yet.

We do know a few things about the Suikoden Critical Role adventure. It will be set in Muse City in the Dunan Republic, a region that was founded after the Dunan Unification War depicted in Suikoden 2. It is unknown if this means we’ll see characters from that entry who remain in the city after the events of that title, such as Fitcher. Matthew Mercer will be the game master (DM) for the session, with Arin Hanson, Ashley Johnson, Zachary Renauldo, and Zeno Robinson participating in the game.

This is one of many ways Konami is honoring the Suikoden series, as more came up during a showcase about the games on March 3, 2025. An anime adaptation of the second installment is in development. There’s lots of new merchandise on the way. An entirely new mobile entry called Suikoden Star Leap is also in development.

Suikoden 1 and 2 HD Remaster: Gate Rune and Dunan Unification Wars will come to the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam on March 6, 2025. The original games appeared on the PlayStation worldwide. They also appeared together in a collection on the PSP in Japan.

Matthew Mercer has been confirmed as the voice of Ganondorf in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. This has prompted a lot of excitement online, but some may be wondering who the actor is.

Matthew Mercer is a prolific voice actor with a wide range of roles in video games and anime. He has been working in video games since 2004, as he played the title character in obscure PS2 title Scaler. Since then, he has built up a reputation for playing a range of beloved characters.

In addition to his voice work, Matthew Mercer is also well-known as the Dungeon Master for the web series Critical Role. Here he leads a bunch of other voice actors in a Dungeons & Dragons game set in a homebrew world. The popularity of Critical Role led to an Amazon animated series, The Legend of Vox Machina. He has also been a contributor to official Dungeons & Dragons sourcebooks including The Explorer’s Guide to Wildemount.

Matthew Mercer will next be heard as Ganondorf in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. It releases for the Nintendo Switch on May 12, 2023.
