Players won’t be able to shrug off damage as they play through tactical stealth CRPG Copper Dreams, which is now raising funds on Kickstarter. Instead, getting hit creates wounds that drain their stats and abilities, weakening the very powers players will need to stay alive.

Players take on the role of an “Agent of Asset Inquiries” on an off-world, US-owned colony called Calitana. Your task is to sneak into other corporations, stealing their secrets and spying on them, but along the way, you may discover things much worse than corporate espionage.

Players will have many tools to use to sneak into and out of places without getting caught. Any building or location on the map can be accessed, so players can go through windows, up buildings, and just about anywhere in the environment they would need to go to access an area or get the drop on their enemies.

Surprising enemies is especially important since Copper Dreams doesn’t use a hit point system. Instead, players receive lesser, greater, and mortal wounds to parts of their body when they take a hit. Even if these wounds don’t kill the player, they do place drains on stats and abilities, slowing the player down or making them more likely to miss a shot. Not only this, but healing takes time when outside of missions, and ing too much time can change conditions on your next mission.

Staying hidden is far preferable. Players can creep around environments, hugging boxes and staying in cover to stay out of their enemies’ lines of sight. They’ll need to take care to be quiet as well, as enemies will also listen for disturbances and things that are out of place. The player can guide these enemies away from them with distractions by shooting out cameras, reprogramming robots, or fiddling with the electrical grid, though.

Saving isn’t even safe in Copper Dreams. Players save the game using a radio, but they will not be able to do so in open-air conditions where it can make with a tower. Enemies can also intercept these transmissions, homing in on them to attack players who are trying to save.

The developers of Copper Dreams are trying to raise $40000 through Kickstarter for the game’s development. They are also seeking votes on Steam Greenlight.

Whalenought Studios has released an alpha preview video for its cyberpunk, “cybertactical” party-based RPG Copper Dreams.

It shows that Copper Dreams will be using a similar set-up and systems to Whalenought’s previous RPG Serpent in the Staglandshowever, Whalenought has said that Copper Dreams will have new mechanics.

The major difference is the setting of Copper Dreams, which is a lawless island called Calitana where people are sent to deal with the overcrowding of the planet. The buildings are tall skyscrapers that home hundreds and that you’ll be able to traverse using grapple hooks.

Preparing for the game’s turn-based and time-based battles, you’ll be able to give them cybernetic enhancements using copper – the island’s cheapest material – giving them cloaking rigs and chainsaw arms, plus much more.

The plan is to bring Copper Dreams to Kickstarter with a playable demo soon. You can find out more about in Siliconera’s previous post and the game’s website.

Whalenought Studios has announced that it’s working on a cyberpunk RPG called Copper Dreams. The plan is for it to launch in 2016 for Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Previously, Whalenought created and released Romanian mythology turn-based RPG Serpent in the Staglands, but it says that Copper Dreams and its future game will have new mechanics and systems.

Copper Dreams takes place on the island of Calitana, which is where humans are drafted in order to ease the overcrowding on Earth, and has since become a place of “unbridled corruption and lawless syndicates.” As Calitana was made to ease the population, it’s highly stacked with tall buildings, meaning that the game’s isometric open world will have a notable verticality to it – you’ll be able to vault through windows, grapple hook up decks, and jump from building to building.

The combat in Copper Dreams is turn-based but it has a time-based element too. In short, you have to consider how long an action will take to perform when deciding on what moves to make. Knowing when to attack, hide, intercept, or engage is said to be vital to a winning strategy, as well as having the right weapons and ammo for the situation, and utilizing engineering and chemistry skills for extra tactical options.

cyber

Also vital to combat is trying to use stealth to engage an enemy on your own . As such, you can hide in shadows, shoot out lights and cameras, and reprogram patrol units to suit you. Shadows, sounds, and enemy vision all inform how stealthy you are.

Another big part of Copper Dreams (and a lot of cyberpunk fiction) is cybernetic enhancements. Apparently, copper is cheap in Calitana and so it’s the main material used in cybernetics, hence the game’s title. Some of the enhancements include a torso shell to house the brain, a chainsaw arm, built in wrist recoil, cloaking rigs, and mobile eyes.

A gameplay video of Copper Dreams is expected in December 2015. You can find out more about the game on its website.
