Sword Art Online characters in Racing Master

Sword Art Online series characters will appear in the mobile racing game Racing Master. NetEase and Codemasters have announced the crossover event on the game's Japanese official website.

This crossover will primarily feature three characters from the series, and each of them will also have a car themed after themselves. Kirito will appear with a 2017 Ford GT, and Asuna will accompany him with a 2017 McLaren P1. Gun Gale Online II's LLENN will complete the roster with a 2019 Volkswagen Golf R (MK7).

The event will also feature other Sword Art Online series characters. Players will be able to visit Lisbeth's Blacksmith room to exchange crossover-exclusive content. The event will also have them collect Pneuma Flowers to revive Pina and collect more exclusive rewards. NetEase will also add an Aincrad Challenge mode that will have other series characters challenge players to a race.

There are conflicting details on the crossover event period. The key visual mentioned an event window between November 24 and December 24, 2024. However, the press release noted that the event will formally start with the launch of the S4 season on November 29, 2024. The game will also have a free 3-pull gacha available daily from November 29, 2024 until December 5, 2024.

A trailer featuring the Sword Art Online crossover event has also appeared on the Japanese official YouTube channel for Racing Master:

Racing Master is available on iOS and Android mobile devices, as well as PCs via a dedicated emulator.

Another Evercade cartridge filled with retro games is in development. This time, it is paying tribute to a company known for unlicensed games that appeared on unconventional NES and Genesis cartridges. An Evercade Codemasters Collection 1 cart will appear in 2021 and give people a way to play 17 of these older releases. 16 actually appeared back in the day, while the final one is the unreleased prototype of Tennis All-Stars.

This is the full list of 17 games available in Codemasters Collection 1.

  • Bee 52
  • Big Nose the Caveman
  • Big Nose Freaks Out
  • Boomerang Kid
  • Cannon Fodder
  • CJ’s Elephant Antics
  • Cosmic Spacehead
  • F-16 Renegade
  • Linus Spacehead
  • Mega-Lo-Mania
  • MiG 29: Soviet Fighter
  • Psycho Pinball
  • Sensible Soccer: International Edition
  • Stunt Buggies
  • Super Skidmarks
  • Tennis All-Stars
  • The Ultimate Stuntman

And here’s a trailer teasing the Evercade Codemasters Collection 1. It shows quick gameplay clips from all of the games in the collection, in case you’re having trouble connecting the names with the games you might .

What’s also fun is a piece of nostalgia shared alongside the announcement. Tennis All-Stars never released as-is, but marketing materials were made for it. So there’s an ad showing how it, with its unique J-Cart that added third and fourth player controller ports, would have been hyped up. (The eventual Pete Sampras Tennis cartridge that did release also shipped on a similar J-Cart.)

The F1 2010 giveaway continues! We have two copies of F1 2010 by Codemasters to give away, one on Xbox 360 and PS3 each. Here's how it'll work.

This is my Twitter feed: https://twitter.com/Ish_Siliconera

Throw a tweet our way if you'd like to try your chances, with something to the effect of: "@Ish_Siliconera I'd like a copy of F1 2010 for [console]!"

We'll pick two winners (one PS3, one 360) at random for each day that you see this post on Siliconera's front page, indicating that the giveaway for that day is on. Winners will be notified by DM.

Unfortunately, we're going to have to limit this to the U.S. like the last couple of giveaways. We're still trying to work out a way to ship stuff to Europe and other places without killing our wallets. One day.

Winners for day 2:

Brain Challenge, Gameloft’s answer to the Brain Training craze, is one of the two Xbox Live titles appearing this Wednesday. I tried Brain Challenge back at GDC and I found logically discerning which items weighted more was surprisingly addictive. Besides the rapid fire questions Brain Challenge has a Creative Mode that “allows players to relax and explore their imagination” (huh? I'm guessing these are a different set of puzzles), a Stress Mode and a challenge for kids. I wonder how many adults are going to attempt to be number one on the child test leaderboard. Earning the title brighter than the world’s youth is probably worth 800 Microsoft Points ($10).

Bliss Island places Zwoophs, creatures who breathe magical clouds, in a handful of mini-games. Actually, this isn’t the first release of Bliss Island. It was sold as a able PC game and it later matriculated on the PSP. Not sure how this compares to either of those versions, but this one is probably cheaper since Bliss Island only costs 400 Microsoft Points ($5).

ss360.jpgEarly this week, Microsoft announced two retro updates on Xbox Live Arcade, Tempest and Sensible World of Soccer. The latter is infected with ads and an unfortunate bug that affects online play. After being online for a few hours Microsoft removed the game from Xbox Live to fix the problem. If you already ed the game you will be able to get the patched game for no additional cost whenever it comes out.

What they aren't fixing are the ads and possible IP address mining by Massive, an in-game advertising firm. For such a revered game, Sensible World of Soccer is having, at best, a rocky start.

em.jpgBefore Acclaim kicked the bucket they were developing Emergency Mayhem, a Crazy Taxi meets mini-game collection for the Xbox and PlayStation 2. Players hop into an emergency vehicle (read: ambulance/fire truck/police car) and drive in an open city to missions. The surprise is the “emergencies” are comical in nature. That’s the concept and Codemaster’s decided to stick with it. After speeding to the scene you may find yourself shooting monkeys with a banana gun in one the thirty mini-games.

Emergency Mayhem was first announced in 2004, so it’s been in limbo for about three years. We’ll finally get to see it in 2008 in a fitting place, the Wii. It doesn’t look like Codemasters spent much to change the graphics, but Wii remote control should add variety to the mini games.

Microsoft brought the Xbox 360 over to India with games like Gears of War, Project Sylpheed and Vampire Rain. But what about local tastes? Microsoft is trying hard to appeal to Japan with Ninety Nine Nights and Lost Odyssey. Is Microsoft going to design a game with India in mind?

Not yet, but Codemasters is taking a stab at it with Yuvraj Singh International Cricket 2007. This really isn’t an India exclusive like Korea’s karaoke game. Yuvraj Singh International Cricket 2007 is actually a repackaged version of Brian Lara International Cricket 2007 or if you’re in Oceania it’s called Ricky Ponting International Cricket 2007. However, it is interesting to note that some company is thinking about India as a serious market. At least serious enough to tweak the title screen and put a local face on the cover of their game.

Before Electronic Arts was synonymous with Madden they used to publish games platforming games starring an aquatic version of James Bond. The James Pond series quickly faded into existence after the 16-bit era, but according to the ESRB Codemasters is digging it out of its grave. James Pond: Codename Robocod, the second game in the series, was enhanced and re-released in Europe in 2005. It looks like Codemasters picked up this remake and are planning to bring it to North America. The question is will anyone care about it?

Codemasters would have much better luck with the re-release if the first James Pond game appeared on the virtual console or other able service to get people to at least recognize the washed up hero. But even then I can’t imagine anyone paying $30 or even $20 for this.

Codemasters is bringing Heatseeker, a fighter pilot game to the PSP, PS2 and the Wii in spring 2007. The product is partially made by the same studio that finished Heroes of the Pacific in 2005 and partially made by Codemasters. The game’s biggest feature is the impact cam where you can see your missile home in on an enemy jet. While Heatseeker is specifically designed for the Wii it’s going to be interesting to see what kind of control set up Codemasters is working on. The remote as a flight yoke? Maybe we can maneuver missiles with the remote? Or it’s possible that the Wii controls are merely an afterthought.

While the game shipped out last year in Japan and Europe with no problems, Codemaster’s release of Bubble Bobble Revolution has some serious bugs. Once you get up to the boss at level 30 music plays, but you’re on a blank screen. Apparently this problem is deeper than a single batch of a DS carts. A statement by Codemasters says that ALL of North American cartridges are defective.

“We have been looking very hard into this issue with Nintendo and have now determined that all of the carts that have been shipped in North America are faulty.

Needless to say we are extremely sorry that this situation has arisen and would like to apologise to all customers who have bought the game.

We have already started the process whereby a corrected version is to be manufactured and will ensure that all customers have their copies replaced. Unfortunately this will take 8-10 weeks (simply because of the time required to manufacture new carts). We will update (via this board, and email to anyone who has emailed us) what you will need to do to get a replacement game, as soon as this has been determined.

Please note. This only affects the North American version. Customers in other parts of the world should not experience this problem.”

If you’re one of the unlucky recipients of a defective cart you can hold it as a collectors’ item or send Codemasters an e-mail at: [email protected] to get a replacement.
