civilization vi cross-save

A rather substantial update has arrived for the Nintendo Switch and PC versions of Civilization VI, and it is one that could create an endless "one more turn" cycle. The two iterations now cross-saves. This means someone could start a game on their PC, play for a while, save, then pick up their Nintendo Switch and continue taking over the world on the go.

The Civilization VI cross-save feature was revealed via Twitter. So long as someone has a 2K (which is free to make), then goes into the options section there to turn cloud saves on, you can begin sharing save files on the two platforms.

Here is the tweet revealing the new feature.

As a reminder, the Nintendo Switch version of Civilization VI is just the base game and does not include any expansions. This could lead to compatibility issues.

Civilization VI is available on the Nintendo Switch, PC, and Apple iOS devices.

Nintendo Switch owners have a strategic future ahead of them. Sid Meier’s Civilization VI will be coming to the platform, according to an announcement on the official website. On November 16, 2018, the game will make its debut on the system, complete with some included add-ons.

Supposedly, the Nintendo Switch port of Sid Meier’s Civilization VI will include updates made to the original game. It also has the Austalia Civilization & Scenario Pack, Persia and Macedon Civilization & Scenario Pack, Poland Civilizaion & Scenario Pack, and Vikings Scenario Pack with it.

Here is the full list of Sid Meier’s Civilization VI key features for the Nintendo Switch version:

  • PLAY YOUR WAY: The path to victory is the one you determine. Become the most scientifically advanced civilization, dominate through sheer military power, or become the foremost destination for the cultural arts.
  • THE WORLD’S GREATEST LEADERS: Play as one of 24 different leaders from various countries around the world and throughout history. Build an empire of lucrative trade routes with Cleopatra of Egypt, flex the military might of your legions with Trajan of Rome, or develop a powerhouse of culture with Hojo Tokimune of Japan. Each of the leaders can be played any way you prefer, with unique abilities, units, and infrastructure in their quest for victory.
  • EXPANSIVE EMPIRES: See the marvels of your empire spread across the map. Settle in uncharted lands, improve your surroundings, build new districts, and see your cities – and your civilization – prosper.
  • ACTIVE RESEARCH: Unlock boosts that speed your civilization’s progress through history. To advance more quickly, use your units to actively explore, develop your environment, and discover new cultures.
  • DYNAMIC DIPLOMACY: Interactions with other civilizations change over the course of the game, from primitive first interactions where conflict is a fact of life, to late game alliances and negotiations.
  • EXCITING AND UNIQUE SCENARIOS: Civilization VI for Nintendo Switch includes four playable scenarios, each with a different setting and style of gameplay inspired by history. Be part of the colonization of Australia in “Outback Tycoon,” defend Poland from invaders in “Jadwiga’s Legacy”, choose a Viking leader to plunder Europe in “Vikings, Raiders, and Traders!”, or conquer the known world in the “Conquests of Alexander.”
  • COOPERATIVE AND COMPETITIVE MULTIPLAYER: Up to 4 players can cooperate or compete for supremacy via a wireless LAN.

Sid Meier’s Civlization VI is immediately available for the PC and iPad.

We got to see some of the top Japanese games of 2016 chosen by Western developers. Here’s a look at the top-5 games chosen by some of the top Japanese developers in the industry.

You can read the full list over at GameInformer. Before getting into the list, I should mention that since the Japanese developers on the feature don’t really share as much about their top-5 titles, we’ll go ahead and just show their full list plus any extras.

Kazuyuki Hoshino (Sega / Sonic the Hedgehog)

  1. Clash Royale – I am playing the game with my sons.
  2. Pokémon GO – I played this SO much in the summer.
  3. Titanfall 2 – I love mech.
  4. Lego Dimensions – My sons are big fans of building Legos and I love the character design.
  5. Final Fantasy XV – The food look yummy.

Kazutoki Kono (Project Aces / Ace Combat)

  1. Dark Souls III – It is funny when this game makes me yell out loud at midnight. I love the core mechanic.
  2. Life Is Strange – I was thrilled with the universe, the details in the game speak themselves, I don’t need to say anything further.
  3. Rez Infinite – It feels good to go with the rhythm as a human.
  4. Pokémon GO – People are searching for Pokemon at all times in all places. This game changed the world.
  5. The Last Guardian – I haven’t played this yet, but this game is in a different league, and I know I can count on it.

Yoshinori Ono (Capcom / Street Fighter)

  1. Overwatch – This is one of the competitive titles that I like to play as much as Street Fighter. This title had a lot to teach me as it perfectly blends competitive play, sports, and cooperation.
  2. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End – I enjoyed this title because I got to see Nate, who now has a family, go out on an adventure. It was also great to see the cinematic-like backgrounds, the stability of the series, and interactions with characters from previous titles.
  3. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – This title did not disappoint with its hardcore action on an expansive field, and used up many of my night time hours.
  4. Gears of War 4 – The numbered series is back! The studio and staff have changed over the series, but I have loved the universe since the original.
  5. Pokémon Sun & Moon – This title is almost mandatory to play. I’m currently playing both Pokémon GO and Sun/Moon in parallel.

Hajime Tabata (Square Enix / Final Fantasy XV)

  1. Overwatch
  2. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End
  3. Pokémon GO
  4. Summer Lesson
  5. Civilization VI

Naoki Yoshida (Square Enix / Final Fantasy XIV)

  1. Overwatch
  2. World of Warcraft: Legion
  3. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End
  4. The Last Guardian
  5. Persona 5
