AmiAmi announced the release of a new Chobits figure of Chi inspired by the cover art of the first DVD volume of the original anime series. The figure costs 18,600 yen (or approximately $121.27) and it is set to release in Japan on May 2025. [Thanks, PR Times!]

Pre-orders for the new figure are now open from the AmiAmi online store. The figure depicts Chobits co-protagonist Chi perched on top of a utility pole. She can be seen wearing her signature flowy dress decorated with pink accent ribbons.

The base of the pole shows a small section of the pavement and inner city road, with green flower buds and weeds growing on the base of the utility pole, contrasting the grey color tones of the concrete and pavement.

In other related news, CLAMP announced on February 2024 that the Chobits manga would receive a Collection release in Japan set to appear on March 6, 2024. The new edition would feature newly drawn cover art by CLAMP.

A new CLAMP Collection edition of the popular Chobits manga will release in Japan on March 6, 2024. The volume costs 946 yen (or approximately $6.30), and pre-orders for it are now open on sites that offer international shipping like Amazon Japan.

So far, the new edition has only been announced for release in Japan. CLAMP also announced that Volumes 2 through 8 of the new re-release of the manga will appear monthly in Japan after the release of the first. The covers for the volumes consist of newly drawn illustrations by CLAMP.

Furthermore, postcards with cover illustrations of the previously published volumes is added as a bonus. Those that purchase all volumes can apply for a postcard binder bonus gift to store the collectible postcards.

Additionally, a 20th Anniversary Edition of the first Chobits volume was released back in 2020. The digital version of the volume appeared on June 2020, and the hardcover collector’s edition released in August 2020.

A new Chobits figure is on the way, and it marks the first time Chi will be available in Nendoroid form. Good Smile Company announced it will show up in July 2023 in Japan for ¥7,500. In September 2023, it will show up in North America for $54.99. Among her accessories will be a book Chi often reads in Chobits.

Chi comes with three face plates total. One is a neutral expression, a second features her with closed eyes, and the third is her smiling. She has a pair of underwear she can wear as a hat, as a nod to one of the early scenes in the series. She also comes with a spare body and pillow to sit on and a copy of A City with No People to carry.

There’s also a Tokyo Otaku Mode exclusive bonus that gives Chi a second book from Chobits. If someone goes through the company, she’ll also get a copy of My Only Person to hold. Note that while it is $54.99 through Good Smile Company, Tokyo Otaku Mode is charging $59.99.

The Chobits Chi Nendoroid will come to Japan in July 2023, with the figure heading to North America in September 2023. Pre-orders close on March 2, 2023. The Chobits manga is available in English via Kodansha, with the anime streaming on Crunchyroll.

Prepare to feel old. The first volume of CLAMP’s Chobits 20th Anniversary Edition rerelease is now available physically. The digital version dropped back in June 2020, but now the 352-page hardcover collector’s edition is available for $24.99 too.

As this is an anniversary edition, Kodansha did a little something special for the release. It being available in a hardcover tome, as opposed to the standard paperback mangas, is one twist. However, this release also has more color pages and is larger than a usual manga volume. (It comes in at 6” x 1.4” x 8.5”.)

Kodansha shared a tweet with a few images from the first chapter’s introduction. The official site also lets people look at 28 color and black-and-white pages.

Chobits is set in a world where Persocoms, personal computer robots that act as companions and assistants, are a part of everyday life. Hideki, a broke college student who desperately wants a Persocom, ends up finding one in the trash after work. He brings her home and activates her, but finds Chi isn’t like a typical unit. What follows is a romantic, slice-of-life story where we see how Hideki and Chi growing closer together and her learning about life.

Chobits 20th Anniversary Edition volume 1 is now available both physically and digitally in English. The second installment will get a simultaneous September 29, 2020 digital and physical launch.
