The Final Fantasy XIV Mobile version is set to release in China in June 2025, offering a different take on the FFXIV experience. At the time of writing, Square Enix has yet to reveal when the global version of the MMORPG will release. [Thanks, GameSpark!]

An announcement video revealing the game’s release window appeared on the Chinese video site Bilibili on May 19, 2025. FFXIV Mobile will be an Android and iOS version of the popular MMORPG developed in collaboration with Tencent’s LightSpeed Studios, and Square Enix announced the new mobile adaptation on November 2024.

FFXIV Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida said of FFXIV Mobile that it will be a companion piece to FFXIV, aiming to recreate the original’s story and combat in a mobile format. On its original announcement, it was revealed that the game will include the content found on A Realm Reborn on launch, including the original nine jobs and five races found on the 2.0 release. As a reminder, a trailer for the game showcasing the mobile UI and the playable jobs appeared on December 2024.

Final Fantasy XIV Mobile will release in China on June 2025. More information on the exact date will appear in the future. Square Enix has yet to share information on the global release of FFXIV Mobile.

On April 25, 2025, miHoYo applied for a trademark application for Honkai: Nexus Anima, hinting at the next game in the franchise. It also created multiple X (formerly Twitter) s for the IP, and may be hiring more employees to work on it. [Thanks, Gacha News!]

On March 4, 2025, X “chibi0108” posted job openings at miHoYo for a “new Honkai auto chess title.” The ment was looking for level planners, 3D animators, game testers, game server developers, and more. It also gave some more details on what kind of game it is. According to the project details, you will explore a “tranquil seaside town and diverse locations,” as well as “collect Destined Spirits.” You can also raise these Destined Spirits to create your own teams to use in “thrilling auto chess battles.” There is also an exploration element, in which you can discover hidden secrets about the world while flying, gliding, and surfing.

There is virtually no official information as of yet regarding Honkai: Nexus Anima. So more details about the gameplay, characters, and such will need to wait until HoYoVerse makes an announcement. If it’s a part of the Honkai IP, though, we may see expies and recurring themes, much like how familiar faces from Honkai Impact 3rd appear in Honkai: Star Rail.

More information on Honkai: Nexus Anima will appear in the future. It will likely appear on mobile devices and the Windows PC, much like a lot of HoYoVerse’s other current projects.

It’s the second anniversary of Honkai: Star Rail, and fans both new and old may be wondering which characters they should pull for in 2025. Here is a list of some of the best general units you can get in the game. Note that these are basic and don't necessarily all fill the same role in a party.

As of the time of writing, Honkai: Star Rail heavily favors characters who either specialize in AoE attacks or high HP and HP reduction. This means shielders, like Aventurine, and single-target DPS characters, like Feixiao, aren’t as universally useful. However, it’s important to keep in mind that the meta of the game shifts, and the game mode and DPS of choice will change which character you prioritize. For example, Huohuo will have a hard time working with Castorice, but she shines when paired with Aglaea. Choosing characters based on your individual needs is sometimes more important than picking whoever is topping the tier lists.

For this article, we focused on picking characters who are easy to raise or use for F2P players, excel in multiple modes in the game, and have generic enough kits that you can use them with almost any archetype. Though we didn’t include any 4-stars, honorable mentions do go to March 7th (Hunt), Pela, and Gallagher. HoYoVerse hasn’t released any new 4-star characters since Moze, but they’re still good units to invest in.

The Herta is a great DPS who matches the current AoE meta. However, even if the game shifts away from that, you can still use her in modes like Apocalyptic Shadow or Pure Fiction, as they prioritize killing as many enemies as possible in a short amount of turns. Though not her optimal team or build, you can get away with using F2P units and a Light Cone other than her signature. Unlike characters like Acheron or Castorice, The Herta can still put out some good damage with those compromises.

Tribbie is a fantastic universal character who can increase all allies’ All-Type RES PEN, as well as how much DMG the enemy takes. She can also double as a sub-DPS with her follow-up attack, which uses ally Ultimates as the trigger. The simple activation cost for Tribbie’s follow-up attack, as well as the fact that literally any composition or archetype can make use of her buffs, means that Tribbie is well worth the investment no matter who you want to use or pull.

Ruan Mei and Robin have been some of the best Harmony s in the game since they came out, and the jury is out as to which is better. Not only can she double as a sub-DPS who can also heal with her summon, she can also increase how much Break DMG enemies receive with her Ultimate. Unlike other sustain units like Huohuo or Aventurine (unless you have his E1), Lingsha even has a panic button (her Ultimate and/or Ember’s Echo) when you’re in a pinch.

Even a year after this article hyping her up, Huohuo remains one of the best sustains in the game due to her auto-heal, cleanse, and Energy Regeneration. She can also increase the party’s ATK. While characters who don’t use a typical Ultimate charge, such as Feixiao and Castorice, exist, the overwhelming majority of the roster do. She doesn’t have the sheer versatility and damage output as Lingsha, but she’s still well worth the Stellar Jades.

HoYoVerse has shared the drip marketing for Ifa, who will be a playable character in Genshin Impact in a future update. There’s no official information thus far on his rarity or his weapon, but he will be an Anemo character.

Ifa will mark the first playable Anemo character who uses the Tall Male model, as all previous male characters with this element used the smaller one. As for his in-game lore, Ifa is a Saurian veterinarian from the Flower-Feather Clan, and he’s a friend of Ororon’s. He also has Cacucu, a Qucusaurus assistant, with him, and you can see Cacucu in his splash art as well.

Johnny Loquasto voices him in English. He previously appeared as Glo in Reverse: 1999, but he’s also a sports broadcaster for events like the WWE’s NXT. In Chinese, Lu Shujun voices him. Lu’s past roles include Hung in Arknights, as well as characters like Beer and Opera Cake in Food Fantasy. In Japanese, Junta Terashima voices him, replacing Showtaro Morikubo. Some of Terashima’s past roles include Sugiura in Judgment and Yukimura in Inazuma Eleven Go.

During the first anniversary stream for Persona 5: The Phantom X, it was announced that the game will appear on Steam. It’s likely that when the game appears in English outside of regions like China, we will be able to it via Steam as well.

The information comes near the end of the stream, at around the 58:50 minute mark. The stream did not mention whether the game would be compatible with the Steam Deck. As for the rest of the stream, Perfect World discussed topics such as anniversary rewards, as well as what players can expect to see in the patch, Version 4.0.

Atlus Sound Team and Lyn also released a new song for Persona 5: The Phantom X. It’s called “Show Stealer” and it will serve as the new opening for the game. You can watch it here:

Persona 5: The Phantom X is a Chinese free-to-play gacha spin-off of Atlus’s Persona 5. Like P5, it’s a combination between social simulation and a turn-based RPG dungeon crawler. Though a closed beta for the game appeared in Japan, there’s no information on when the game will come out for regions outside of China.

For the anniversary, all players will receive a total of 30 pulls and 10 Fuel. The 30 pulls will come from the 20 Special es that you will receive after logging in for a cumulative seven days. A “familiar companion” will send you that anniversary gift, and you can choose who sends it to you. All you need to do is select your favorite companion before April 26, 2025.

HoYoVerse will also make it easier to obtain some useful limited 5-star characters. You’ll be able to get them in the Exchange Shop by trading in either a Golden Companion Spirit or a Light Cone Memory Shard. The Golden Companion Spirit is also one of the bonuses you can get for a limited time when you collect Oneiric Shards, which you can only get via in-game purchases.

From Version 3.2 to Version 3.4, you can trade in a Golden Companion Spirit to obtain either Luocha or Ruan Mei. Other limited 5-stars will appear in the Exchange Shop after Version 3.4, if you’re not interested in them. You can also use 4 Light Cone Memory Shards to exchange for limited 5-star Light Cones. The first batch of Light Cones will be: “Past Self in Mirror”, “She Already Shut Her Eyes”, “The Unreachable Side”, “Echoes of the Coffin”, and “In the Night.” In other words, you can get the signature Light Cones for Fu Xuan, Luocha, Ruan Mei, Blade, or Seele.

Ruan Mei is an Ice Harmony with universal party-wide buffs, and a particular specialty in increasing Break DMG and Weakness Break Efficiency. She is a fantastic for a large number of characters. Luocha is an Imaginary Abundance character whose Ultimate creates a field that can heal the party or a character whenever you attack. Though he became less popular as other sustain options became available, he’s been experiencing a renaissance with the introduction of new 5-star Destruction character, Mydei.

After the Version 3.2 update, you can also choose which character you get if you lose your 50/50. If, for example, you’d rather not keep getting Yanqing or Bailu after losing your 5-stars, you can set this to someone else. You can also choose to get Blade, Fu Xuan, or Seele, who were all limited 5-stars in the past.

Apex-Toys is teasing its next Genshin Impact figure, which will be Yumemizuki Mizuki. Pre-orders will open soon, but there’s no exact date for them. We also don’t know the release date for the figure.

This is part of the Limepie series of figures, which are just slightly smaller than the standard 1/7 scale figure. Previous figures in this line include one of APPLe from Reverse: 1999 and Ellen Joe from Zenless Zone Zero. The Genshin Impact Yumemizuki Mizuki figure is posing like her splash art, complete with a tray of dango milk and dango. From the pictures, we can see details like how her feet are lifting in her geta, as well as the wrinkles in her skirt.

Here’s a closer look at how the figure will look. Some close ups focus on accents like her apron, air ribbons, and Vision.

HoYoVerse released a new Genshin Impact Web Event called A Tranquil Day, focusing on new five-star character Varesa. Players will be able to earn up to 80 Primogems by playing, which can be used in the main game's gacha system. You can play it yourself here.

In order to receive rewards, players will need to link a game that has reached at least Adventure Rank 10. Then, they can play through the short web event to access more missions in Genshin Impact itself, requiring them to complete world quests and other activities. As well as Primogems, one of the game's currencies, players can also earn a few extra materials like weapon and character experience items. The event is set to last until April 8, 2025, after which earned rewards will no long be available to claim.

Recently, UGREEN announced a line of charging cables and power accessories themed around the Genshin character Kinich. Meanwhile, Kadokawa announced it would be publishing the official Genshin Impact cookbook in Japanese.

The Genshin Impact A Tranquil Day Web Event will remain available until April 8, 2025, while Varesa herself will be available to pull for until April15, 2025. The game itself is readily available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and mobile devices.

Ribose will release a figure of a young Silver Wolf from Honkai: Star Rail holding a video game console and a cat. This is part of the Little Cat series of merchandise, and will come out in November 2025. [Thanks, Houzero Goods!]

The Honkai: Star Rail Silver Wolf Little Cat figure will cost 9,000 JPY ($60.10), and is a 1/8 scale that stands at approximately 190 mm. It comes with its own acrylic stand that resembles a cat’s paw print. This Silver Wolf figure is based off the official Little Cat acrylic stand, which is part of a series featuring younger versions of characters hanging out with cat versions of themselves. In Silver Wolf’s case, her cat has the same color as her hair and wears similar glasses around its neck.

The figure version of the stand recreates the appearance of the acrylic stand, which features Silver Wolf posing like a cat. Her cat is hanging off her shirt, and she also has a Nintendo Switch-like device in her hand. Like the previous Jing Yuan Little Cat figure, you can also purchase a display case that looks like a cat cafe. The normal version of the case costs 149 CNY ($20.55) and the larger version costs 199 CNY ($27.40).

Wuthering Waves, which is available as a direct or via Epic Games Store for PC players, will appear on Steam as well. It’ll come out on April 28, 2025.

Valve has not yet confirmed whether Wuthering Waves will have Steam Deck compatibility, which might be one of the biggest draws for a PC player to move over to the Steam version. Chinese merch brand Myethos, which will open up its Japanese online store on March 19, 2025, will start accepting pre-orders for the scale figure of March 7th from Honkai: Star Rail on the 21st. This figure will depict her in her Hunt form. [Thanks, Hobby Dengeki!]

The March 7th (Hunt) figure from Honkai: Star Rail is a 1/8 scale that stands at around 207 mm tall. It costs 7,260 JPY ($48.70) and it’ll come out in September 2025. Pre-orders will close on May 31, 2025.

In this figure, March 7th is holding a cup of Immortal’s Delight while winking at the viewer. If you don’t like that expression, you can also replace it with a cheery smile. The ornamental sash around her waist billows behind her somewhat, as if she’s standing in the wind. The stand resembles the flower that often appears as a motif in March’s outfits.

March 7th is a free unit you can obtain soon after you start Honkai: Star Rail, and her Hunt version was also a free gift after completing the “March to Mastery: A Star is Born” Trailblaze Continuance quest. This quest debuted in Version 2.4. The Hunt version of March becomes a and sub-DPS character, and her element shifts from Ice to Imaginary.

During the Genshin Impact Version 5.5 special program, HoYoVerse announced some new characters and events for the patch. There will also be a new region to explore in Natlan.

For starters, new characters Varesa (5-star Electro Catalyst) and Iansan (4-star Electro Polearm) will appear in the first phase of Genshini Impact Version 5.5. Xianyun will re-run alongside them. During the first phase, you’ll also have the chance to pull for the Vivid Notions Catalyst, which is Varesa’s signature weapon. Meanwhile, the second phase will star Xilonen (5-star Geo Sword) and Venti (5-star Anemo Bow).

Genshin Impact Version 5.5 will also debut two new Artifacts. Long Night’s Oath will increase Plunging Attack DMG, making it perfect for characters like Xiao. Finale of the Deep Galleries will increase Cryo DMG, as well as Normal Attack DMG and Elemental Burst DMG when the character has 0 Elemental Energy. Thanks to the condition of 0 Energy, it doesn’t seem like there are any characters in the game right now who can use the full set to its maximum potential.

New content in Genshin Impact Version 5.5 includes a boss (Lava Dragon Statue) and area (The Sacred Mountain and Sanctified Land). Junta Terashima will replace Showtaro Morikubo as the voice actor for Ifa in Genshin Impact. In the same announcement, HoYoVerse revealed Shouhei Komatsu as Cacucu, who is Ifa’s Saurian buddy.

Though Morikubo had played Ifa during his brief appearance in Natlan, HoYoVerse had to remove him for “various reasons” in March 2025. Though the post did not give any specifics, many speculate that this is because Morikubo appeared in a reading of Inochigake no Shougen, which highlights the Chinese government’s persecution of the Uyghur ethnic group. Morikubo also lost his roles in Arknights and Onmyoji, which adds credence to the theory.

Terashima is a voice actor who started his career in 2009. He also has a singing career separate from his job as a voice actor. Some of Terashima’s more prominent roles include Hyoga Yukimura in Inazuma Eleven Go, Shiki Ando in Paradox Live, and Sugiura in Judgment. As for Komatsu, he appeared as Gaming in Genshin Impact and Hizen Tadahiro in Touken Ranbu.

In Genshin Impact, Ifa is a Saurian veterinarian from the Flower-Feather Clan, and a friend of Ororon’s. Since he has a Vision and a unique design, he may appear as a playable character in the future. So far, he only made an off-screen appearance in the Natlan Archon Quest.

During the first Identity V Reveal Show of 2025, NetEase announced an crossover event with Ib. It’ll start from April 17, 2025.

The official X (formerly Twitter) has posted a picture of the key visual, which shows the logo for both Identity V and Ib in a cracked photo frame that’s surrounded by red roses. While the global versions of the game haven’t given a lot of information on the crossover, the Chinese version of the announcement already revealed the characters who’ll receive collaboration outfits.

Of the three crossover characters, Garry is the only Hunter. NetEase likely chose the Ripper for him due to the Rose Cane (Blue) accessory. It’s harder to pinpoint why NetEase chose Mary for Coordinator and Ib for Journalist, though.The Ib skins will appear in the shop, and one of them will be free after completing event quests.

Ib is a 2012 indie adventure horror RPG Maker 2000 game that kouri released for the Windows PC. Today, many view it as a cult classic and a highly influential title, with remakes and ports appearing since 2022. It follows the titular Ib, who’s a young girl visiting an art gallery with her parents. After a blackout, she finds herself in an otherworldly version of the gallery that’s full of hostile creatures. While trying to escape with fellow unfortunate soul Garry, they come across a bizarre girl named Mary, who seems to know more than she’s letting on.

Identity V is readily available on the Windows PC and mobile devices. The Ib crossover will start in Identity V from April 17, 2025.

HoYoVerse has ed three illustrations to the official Honkai: Star Rail X (formerly Twitter) to celebrate White Day 2025. This year, we have Jiaoqiu, Boothill, and Aventurine.

Like the previous years, a short description of the snack they give you accompanies each picture. Aventurine gives you a custom gift box that smells like golden kumquat and red currant, and it’s full of different snacks from various regions. Boothill gives you a bullet with a satin ribbon around it. According to the description, this is a real bullet, and not a bullet-shaped chocolate. Finally, Jiaoqiu gives you a hot pot-flavored pastry inside a bamboo steamer. You can look at the White Day 2025 illustrations via the Honkai: Star Rail X .

All three characters this year are limited 5-star units. Aventurine is an Imaginary Preservation, Boothill is a Physical Hunt, and Jiaoqiu is a Fire Nihility. Objectively, of the three, Aventurine is likely the most popular character. HoYoVerse released goods that draw inspiration from him in 2024, as well as announced a set of apparel based on his design in March 2025. Back in April 2024, before he even came out, some of his fans even adopted a peacock in the Dalian Forest Zoo in China and named it after him.
