Back in 2024, Ayaneo released Ayaneo FLIP KB and DS models of handheld PCs designed to resemble the Nintendo DS and 3DS line of handhelds, and now it confirmed a FLIP 1S DS is in development. While it confirmed a new one is on the way, only a teaser appeared on social media so far. This comes after it confirmed the “ongoing development of the FLIP product line” on Indiegogo

The initial teaser for the Ayaneo FLIP 1S DS doesn’t show how this new take on handheld gaming PC inspired by the Nintendo handheld’s design will look just yet. It only confirmed that it will involve an entirely new design. So it will not only involve upgraded specs compared to the original Windows device and again involve dual screens, but it will look different from the original KB and DS designs.

Here’s the initial infographic Ayaneo shared online.

As a reminder, the original models involved the KB, which had a screen on the top and keyboard on the bottom, and DS, which featured screens on the top and bottom. Both involved a clamshell design, so when not in use someone could close it to protect the screens. At the official site, the base 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD DS model starts at $1,139. The base 16GB RAM and 512GB KB model starts at $839.

The Ayaneo FLIP 1S DS is in development, though we don't know if it will resemble the Nintendo DS as closely as the original release did.

AYANEO 3 Handheld Windows Gaming PC Announced

AYANEO announced another Steam Deck competitor, as it is working on the AYANEO 3 handheld Windows gaming PC. There’s no release window yet, but two versions will be available. These follow previous devices like the AMD Ryzen 7 4800U AYANEO Next Lite and the AMD Ryzen 7 7840U AYANEO KUN

To start, the AYANEO 3 will be available with either 7” LCD and OLED screens. Both will be high refresh models, though the OLED model will be HDR with high brightness. There will also be two processors to choose from with these devices. One will be the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U, and the other is the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370.

There are also some elements that will be new to AYANEO handhelds and present on both devices. They will each feature additional back buttons when compared to past items like the AYANEO Slide. There will also be an option to enable a trigger lock while playing. It also seems like games and videos could sound different, as the company confirmed the front-facing speakers will apparently be improved upon compared to past models.

Here is the first trailer for the new AYANEO Steam Deck-like handheld gaming PC.

Review: AYANEO Pocket Micro Calls to Mind GBA Micro Gaming

The AYANEO Remake line is fascinating. Each product is inspired by a retro console or handheld, from powerbanks and mini PCs to Android devices. The AYANEO Pocket Micro is the latest, and you’d be forgiven if you’d mistake it for a GBA Micro at a glance. However, while it is inspired by that comfortable and space-saving design, this is a robust, sturdy system that stands on its own as a potential pinnacle of Android gaming.

While AYANEO’s official site describes the Pocket Micro as “a delicate plaything you won’t want to put down,” the first thing that struck me when I opened mine is how substantial it is. It felt extremely sturdy and substantial when I took it out of the box. The glass ed front is shiny and clear, and the aluminum case has a perfect amount of weight. It’s not so heavy that I felt I’d have trouble playing it over long periods of time, but the design is such that I did feel comfortable putting it in my purse when heading out somewhere.

Also, while I described the AYANEO Pocket Micro as looking like a GBA Micro, it is far more comfortable than Nintendo’s handheld ever was. The power button is recessed and allows for fingerprint unlocking, so I found it never turned on inadvertently and felt safe taking an Android system that does have access to all my s out without worrying about anyone else cracking into it. The GBA Micro was always a device that, while I enjoyed, I stopped playing as frequently as I got older due to the controls not being comfortable in my hands. Everything is perfectly proportioned here. The analog sticks have a comfortable amount of resistance to them, featured exemplary accuracy, and had a great grip without adding any additional covers to the thumbsticks. The placement of the four trigger buttons is quite intuitive, and I appreciated how many additional inputs are available along the bottom edge and side of the Android handheld to check on the status of things, head to the main menu, or have an instant “out” to back out of programs.

In of power, I found the AYANEO Pocket Micro to be quite capable. It has a Helio G99 processor. It played any game I threw at it perfectly. The screen is a 960x640 one with IPS original color, so everything looked bright and clear. With a click of a button, I could check the performance of any title I was playing to see the framerate, adjust the fan, and switch to a different performance mode when needed. I found the “balance” option was best in general, but did swap to the “game” one for HoYoVerse titles. The Controller option of that menu also made it easy to start adapting things and adjusting experiences based on preference in each title.

Speaking of gaming, I was also incredibly impressed with just how compatible the AYANEO Pocket Micro is with different programs and devices. While I couldn’t test Xbox Remote Play, I did play quite a few PS5 games with it. Though the size of the text was an issue, it worked perfectly with the app and I experienced no lag or issues thanks to the Android device and my home internet. It’s also paired incredibly well with the Crunchyroll Game Library. In particular, Blossom Tales II, Yohane the Parhelion, and are all ones I highly recommend. Captain Velvet Meteor and Wolfstride are a bit uncomfortable to play, due to the text size, sadly. HoYoVerse games like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail work exceptionally well on it! Though again, the text size might be an issue and it is frustrating when the mobile versions of those games won’t I’m selecting the controller-ed option after doing so once. The only game I wanted to play on here, but couldn’t, is FFVII Ever Crisis. Which is no big deal, since there are plenty of other avenues for that.

Speaking of minor inconveniences, I’ve only experienced one issue with my AYANEO Pocket Micro, and it’s an incredibly minor one. If I would let the battery completely die, something that happened twice due to how much I’ve been using it and keeping it in my purse, then recharged it and started, the handheld would start with the internet turned off. I’d have to drag down the menu on the touchscreen to turn WiFi on again. But again, I feel like this is more of an energy-saving move and not any sort of defect! It’s something I haven’t gotten around to customizing, so I mention it only so if others find themselves in my position, they know to flip the in-menu toggle again.

As this is a dedicated Android handheld, it also means it is incredibly easy to set up and use. Immediately after I picked it up, I was quickly going through my Google Play library and adding any compatible game. (By the way, Square Enix’s Final Fantasy games and older titles like Forager run like a dream on it.) I immediately had all of the apps ready to go and customized to my liking within the span of a few hours. There’s a certain comfort and familiarity to it all, and it was easier to find my footing and be settled than it was with many PCs I’ve set up over the years.

I’m constantly impressed with the AYANEO Pocket Micro. I didn’t realize how much of my mobile gaming could be covered by this handheld. I’d gotten incredibly behind in Zenless Zone Zero, and now I’m caught up. I never really touched my Crunchyroll Games Library subscription, and now I’m playing the titles there. I picked up Stardew Valley — again — to prepare for the 1.6 mobile update. It’s really such a fluid and comfortable handheld, one that I feel safe carrying with me at all times due to the battery life, construction, and its capabilities, and I’m amazed with how well AYANEO’s done with this one.

The AYANEO Pocket Micro project is on Indiegogo.

ayaneo am01 review

As technology advances and we keep asking relatively less from computers for most tasks, the mini PC in general becomes a more and more viable option. AYANEO, a company that’s established itself with its handhelds, is expanding into the market with its Retro Mini PC AM01. Is it right for you? We’ll try to help you answer that.

Aesthetics 44i6m

The packaging of the AYANEO AM01 makes tons of nods to Apple’s choices over the years, setting the stage for the product itself. It makes tons of nods to Apple’s choices, both in its early era and its modern-style box packing. Do these match with the era of the Macintosh Classic, the computer upon which the AM01’s design is based? Uh, not really, no. It’s a pastiche, much like other products in the Remake line. And maybe that makes sense for a product that looks like a Mac but runs Windows.

The materials and wallpaper use a pixelated version of the old Apple serif, which… is weird! It was used on print materials or large enough on the screen to not look like that. The interchangeable icon on the case where the Apple logo would be is a nice touch, if sort of unnecessary. It’s not like the AM02 model with its built-in screen, so we’re not sure how often you’ll be looking at the hardware itself.

Still, the AM01 sets the stage with its looks, fitting in well with a lifestyle that’s retro-friendly. We ended up doing most of our testing with our 8BitDo keyboard and controller, and in a weird way, pairing a new PC that looks like an old Mac with new peripherals that look like old NES or Game Boy models really worked for us.

Performance 425ju

While most coverage of the AM01 has focused on higher-end models, we were able to check out the 8GB 5700U model, which isn’t the lowest spec but could be a more affordable option for many people. AYANEO talks about these options as more friendly for office tasks, storage and multimedia, and that’s certainly true, but you don’t need us to tell you about those! We’re here to tell you about its use in games.

As a result, yeah, what it can do is a bit limited in of modern titles. Higher-spec models of the AM01 may be able to handle Baldur’s Gate III, but ours couldn’t manage a able frame rate on lowest settings. Less demanding fare, though, runs fine! We tested Silent Hope and Star Ocean: The Second Story R, and each handled best when adjusting the settings to what we’d most accurately call “Nintendo Switch.”

The AM01 works best as a secondary, home-theater gaming option, though. It has zero trouble running Jackbox Party Pack titles or Monster Roadtrip, the sorts of titles you’d only want to play with a big group in front of the same TV. A mini PC like this one is nice for those, because you can slip it in a bag and take it elsewhere to play with friends and family. And if you’re doing that? Hey, maybe the AM01’s fun aesthetics could be a fun conversation starter. If this scheme is held back by anything, it’s probably that its low-power specs are most taxed by the increasingly-4K displays many use for home theater. It’s a thoroughly capable device at, say, 1080p.

That said, with the retro aesthetic, it’s certainly a good fit for running classics or as an emulation box too. A PC is still the best option for playing old games of all types, and though we’ll leave it to others to cover the ins and outs of setting that up, we had a lot of fun using the AM01 for older PC games like RollerCoaster Tycoon and Heroes of Might and Magic III.

We found the AYASpace app to have some use on other devices like the Slide, but our AM01 model really couldn’t handle it and it was clunky enough that we had to disable it to get things running smoothly. Which isn’t a huge deal, but important to know! It’s most useful as a power management app, so it makes more sense on the company’s handhelds anyway.

AYANEO AM01: The Verdict s3p22

Lots of mini PCs can do the things the AYANEO AM01 does, understandably, but it’s a solid entrant into the market. As a first model for the company, it doesn’t mess anything up (which is an accomplishment!), and it brings a fun form factor into a category that generally just gives you nondescript boxes to hide behind other things. It doesn’t set itself apart as much as AYANEO’s handhelds, but it’s a fun and useful one of these! And that’s totally reasonable.

The AYANEO Retro Mini PC AM01 is available now, with models ranging from roughly $200 to $420. For more about the Remake series, check out our review of the Slide and our interview with the company CEO.

It’s a pastiche, much like other products in the Remake line. best ayaneo slide games

Looking for some fun games to play on the AYANEO Slide after checking out our review? It runs a whole host of things, of course, but we thought we’d dig in on the sorts of games that the Slide does better than other handhelds out there.

Steam Deck compatibility? Who needs it! 123t6a

The biggest difference between a native Windows handheld and a Steam Deck is the compatibility layer the Deck uses to run games on Linux. It works remarkably well for most games, too! But most ain’t all, and Slide owners can take advantage of incompatible games like the ones below.

Atelier (franchise) 1i5x4l

Whether it’s Atelier Ryza 3, Atelier Remake, or some (though not all) of the older titles, the Atelier franchise is full of games that aren’t Deck-compatible but would run great on an AYANEO Slide.

Grandia HD Remaster, Grandia II HD Remaster 2f482z

These remasters of RPG classics work well on a handheld. Older titles in the genre tend to have segments with a bit of monotony relative to modern releases, so short bursts or playing while multitasking are good strategies for enjoying them.

Fatal Frame: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water 5p5838

There’s something about the heft and form factor of the AYANEO Slide that fits well with a game about holding a camera. While we’d love to see some of the more beloved earlier games (and, uh, there are ways to play those on this thing too), these two are still a fun time.

Moon: Remix RPG Adventure q3i17

We’re not entirely sure what’s holding back this game’s compatibility, but hey, one more opportunity to recommend that people play Moon is great. It’s quirky and ahead of its time, fitting in way better with today’s Undertale crowd than its mid-’90s peers.

here is a top view of the device

Use that keyboard 1j5z1m

The Slide’s unique form factor makes it ideal for games that sometimes use the keyboard. And that’s tough to find! But here are our picks for making the most out of the hardware configuration.

Nanotale: Typing Chronicles 2e274m

If you’re looking for experimental keyboard games, a great place to start is with developer Fishing Cactus. That team has a handful of typing-based experiences, but Nanotale feels to us like the best fit for the Slide. It’s an exploration RPG that can get frantic, but usually proceeds at a more reasonable pace to handle on the small keys.

The Typing of the Dead: Overkill 5u5756

This may be something of a challenge — the keyboard is usable but not particularly fast or full-size — but if you really want to have an experience you can’t on other handhelds, The Typing of the Dead will do that.

Think outside the box? 1t4s5m

Sure, it’s a keyboard, but it’s also dozens of mappable buttons. Does that help with an MMO? Or Baldur’s Gate? The most interesting implementations of this form factor are going to take a bit of customization, but we’d love to see it.

Raid Game for a while 4r3533

Windows-based handhelds like the AYANEO Slide can jump into Game games out of the box, without trickery or cloud streaming. Here are our Siliconera-friendly recommendations for what’s on the platform right now.

Yakuza/Like a Dragon (franchise) 3jsc

We have a few other recommendations, but if we only had this one, you’d still be set for months. From Yakuza 0 to Like a Dragon: Ishin! and Like a Dragon Gaiden, you can play through essentially the full franchise (until the just-released Infinite Wealth) on Game . They run well on the Slide in our testing, and the environments benefit greatly from the vibrant display.

Persona 5 Tactica 1e1u15

It’s still interesting to see Persona on Xbox at all. But hey, an original tactics game in that world makes for a good fit both on a handheld and with the noted brightness of the Slide’s screen.

Cassette Beasts 5c4h4p

Of all the “Pokemon but better” indie efforts in recent years, Cassette Beasts stands out. It’s got a cool look, and interesting point of view and combat that feels markedly fresh and different.

Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom 466e1b

Both Ni no Kuni titles are on the service, but we have a soft spot for the ambitious sequel. It’s like a bunch of different games mashed together, but it manages to do it in an endearing way.

The AYANEO Slide is available for purchase through the company’s Indiegogo page for prices ranging from $700 to $1300. For more, check out our review of the device and our interview with the company’s CEO.

ayaneo slide review keyboard

The AYANEO Slide makes a bold first impression, even before you take it out of the box. Packaged like an old VHS tape, it makes clear that it’s intended to bring nostalgia into the experience of a PC handheld. This keyboard-equipped model is among the vanguard of the company’s Remake line of devices, and we wanted to put it through its paces to see what sort of players should pick it up!

Note: many reviews of devices like these are tailored to the tinkerers, with in-depth looks at tweaks and customization. We’re going to primarily focus on the experience out of the box, for those looking to approach a device and enjoy it right away.

AYANEO Slide vs. Steam Deck 5n4hm

In a market dominated by the Steam Deck, the main advantage of devices like the AYANEO Slide is running Windows. It needs a bit more horsepower to manage that, but the resulting compatibility with games past and present is a significant gain. Even “verified” games can have glitches on the Deck that go unresolved for months. On the Slide? Not a worry. It’s also a lot easier to just set up and play games from Xbox Game or Epic, as much as enthusiasts have built some Deck workarounds for these things.

That said, the Steam Deck approach does a lot to make it feel more console-like and plug-and-play that the Slide can't manage. It can get close with frontends like Big Picture Mode, and Ayaneo is trying hard to build its own software, AyaSpace, to integrate games from more sources. But with a really buggy experience and a lot of Engrish that can be tough to parse and generally doesn't fit in its designated spaces very well, that software just isn't ready for use yet. Maybe they'll keep working.

As someone who prefers the Switch Lite over its big brother specifically due to wrist strain issues, the extra weight isn't trivial. There are certainly lighter models in the company's line, but the relatively compact form factor can be deceiving. It's heavier than a Steam Deck, somehow, packing a ton of hardware in its frame.

The built-in ability to tilt the screen a bit when it's in the up position does allow for opportunities to put your arms in a more comfortable position or rest the device down and still play. It's only a little bit of a tilt, though, so it isn't a fix for all situations, and there's something about that position that makes it feel a bit flimsy. The exposed springs? The tilt allowance meaning the screen isn't as securely held in one spot?

AYANEO Slide keyboard impressions 1j5z4f

So how is the keyboard, exactly? Well to test it, we wrote part of this review on it. This part, actually! You might be able to handle a short text input while holding the Slide normally, but reaching your thumbs that far simply isn’t sustainable for long. We found the most success resting the device on a leg and using it that way. It works okay, but even with this approach, adult fingers are going to hit nearby keys occasionally. Or swipe by the touch screen and end up in a totally different part of the document.

In of feel, it’s… sturdy? For better or worse. This sort of setup could be flimsy, and it’s not that! Just to compare, we busted out an old slide phone – the original Motorola Droid – and the Slide has a lot more resistance. It even started to cause some strain after a while. And of course technology has changed with the times, with on-screen keyboards adding size and haptics and closing the usability gap.

That said, the ultimate benefit of the keyboard on the AYANEO Slide is… the screen? See, unlike mobile apps, PC games simply aren’t designed to be obscured by a pop-up keyboard. This ranges from frustrating blocking of the information you need to see while typing to a real barrier to playing the game properly.

Nevertheless, we came into this review planning to use the keyboard as much as possible, but we ended up spending most of the time with the device in the closed position and just using the gamepad controls.

Hardware quirks b31d

The Slide is trying to do some interesting things with its screen, and first-generation products like this tend to encounter some friction. But it isn’t always as literal as this. The device started to develop minor but visible scuff marks on the top rim less than a day after turning it on, right where the sliding screen glides by. It didn’t get much worse after that, so it’s not a huge deal, but it’s enough that we thought both that we should mention it and that other s might have a more significant case.

In of less experimental features, there are a few concerns. In our testing, the face buttons tended to stick just slightly, functioning fine but leaving a strange feel when taking heavier inputs. We haven’t been able to test it for quite long enough, but this sort of sticking felt like the kind that would diminish as you wear it in. Also: the finish? Yeah, it really shows fingerprints on the back basically immediately.

One really nice hardware feature, though, is its ability to charge through either the top or bottom USB-C port. This makes it a bit easier to keep playing while it’s plugged in, and since battery life has always been a huge hurdle for PC handhelds, it’s an important aspect.

AYANEO Slide performance 5b1n3f

Speaking of that battery life: to get the most time out of the Slide, there are a lot of things you can adjust. Screen brightness, game quality settings and energy consumption are all in play, and to the device’s credit, AYANEO’s software makes this stuff easy to access. We’ll leave the thorough tests to the specialists at that sort of thing! Our rule of thumb was simply to crank down the quality and brightness as much as we could tolerate whenever we could, and that got us a few hours.

We actually ended up not tinkering too much with every game. Testing Starfield, for example, we found that the default settings already optimized things well with scaling and filters. The only real consistent sticking point with other games was prioritizing resolution. A handheld like the Slide really benefits from keeping the resolution native, and anyone who lived through the Vita era knows that well. So there are times when a game’s default would be dropping down below 1080p, and you may want to dip the settings a bit more to boost that back up.

Outside of battery concerns, though, the Slide’s AMD Ryzen 7 7840U handled everything we could reasonably throw at it. When it’s at full power, that power is no joke! And the screen is vibrant even at medium brightness. Playing games on the Slide is, visually, a legitimate joy. The Hall effect sticks and triggers are nice, too.

The AYANEO Slide is available now, with models ranging from roughly $700 to $1300. For more about the Remake series, check out our interview with the company CEO.

The handheld gaming device is booming these days, and manufacturer AYANEO certainly isn't stopping that with its new Remake line of quirky, nostalgic form factors. We asked CEO Arthur Zhang about the plans for Remake and their plans for ing all these new devices.

Graham Russell, Siliconera: Besides a fancy new logo, what makes the Remake devices different from what AYANEO has previously made?

Arthur Zhang, AYANEO: The AYANEO REMAKE concept is not just a symbol and emblem. As loyal fans of retro game culture, starting from AYANEO 2021, we have injected tribute to classic retro elements into our products. From the initial “Retro Power” to later color schemes like “Classic Gray” and “Retro White,” we can say that AYANEO has brought a new wave of retro design to Windows handheld and Android handheld consoles.

Simply paying tribute to classics on a single product is definitely not our ultimate goal. With the continuous development of the AYANEO brand, we have the ability to develop more diverse products. Therefore, we have decided to launch the REMAKE retro concept product series, not only in of color schemes but also in the form or type of the products, to create more creative and nostalgic products.

Of course, the AYANEO REMAKE product series will still continue our relentless pursuit of elegant appearance, high-end quality, and comprehensive experience. We will adhere to the strengths of the AYANEO brand and products, not compromising in any aspect, and create more excellent products with distinct brand labels for s, providing an outstanding gaming experience different from existing products on the market.

AYANEO touts the inspirations for the Remake line proudly. And it’s quirkier stuff than we’re used to seeing! What made you want to make these devices? What makes you confident that these different form factors have enough of an audience?

Zhang: I am myself a fan who is deeply ionate about retro culture. I have collected almost all the classic handheld consoles, game consoles, and other digital products from history, so I am very familiar with and knowledgeable about these classic gaming devices. Being able to personally pay tribute to and recreate these classic products can be said to be a dream come true for me. I am delighted that I have built a team of like-minded individuals and can now work together tirelessly towards this goal.

I have also purchased some retro-style handheld consoles and gaming products available on the market, and through my experience, I believe there is still much room for improvement. We have also conducted relevant market research, gaining a clear understanding of the market conditions. Driven by ideals and ion, we came up with the idea and took action to create a series of retro products.

Based on our understanding of players and through in-depth market research, we realized that there are many players who are ionate about retro culture. They enjoy hunting for classic handheld consoles in the second-hand market, disassembling and modifying them themselves, and even deg and handcrafting their own products. They seem to never tire of this DIY approach to retro products.

However, classic products still have their limitations. No matter how much they are modified, it is difficult to achieve a modernized experience. So, retro players are also eagerly waiting to see truly eye-catching retro products. This is the original intention behind our introduction of the REMAKE series of products. We hope to present retro-fused innovative products and experiences to these players who love retro culture.

Even for players who are not particularly fascinated by retro culture, I believe the unique design of the REMAKE series products can also attract the younger Z generation, as they often advocate for personalization and find the monotonous products on the market lacking fun. The retro series products created by AYANEO REMAKE concept will allow them to experience a distinct cultural nostalgia and experience.

What sorts of software will there be for features like secondary screens? What steps are you taking to make these more useful for both players and the hobbyist community?

Zhang: AYANEO FLIP DS is the first flip dual-screen Windows handheld with a 3.5" multi-functional touchscreen secondary screen that serves as a native extension screen. s can choose the display mode in the system settings, and the logic is similar to connecting two displays to a computer, allowing s to drag programs back and forth between the primary and secondary screens.

We will also develop convenient features for it through the AYASpace software, such as frequently used settings, quick settings, and FPS Thunder game overlay tools, which can be easily accessed by tapping on the secondary screen. For example, gamers can view real-time data such as FPS on the secondary screen while playing games. Additionally, we plan to add custom application functionality, allowing players to play games on the primary screen while watching guides or videos on the secondary screen.

Thanks to the Windows system and flagship processors, FLIP DS has powerful multitasking capabilities. Our official adaptations will make it as easy as possible for players to use and provide a satisfying gaming experience. At the same time, we welcome players to explore more uses for the software and share strategies in our community, all while enjoying the fun of the dual-screen Windows handheld.

The gaming handheld space has been exploding over the last few years, not just in of popularity and quality, but also in sheer number of devices. With the AYANEO Remake line bringing its own batch of different form factors and capabilities, there’s understandably a worry from players that any device they buy won’t have a lot of from both the company and the community or will be rapidly obsolete. How do you balance giving people lots of options and upgrades with focusing on quality for each? What’s your ideal lifespan for a product before replacing it with an upgraded model?

Zhang: The handheld gaming industry is closely tied to the PC industry, with upstream vendors continuously driving hardware upgrades, while players’ needs are constantly growing. As a terminal vendor, we also need to keep up with industry and market changes, build a rich product line on the basis of in-depth understanding of player needs, and meet the needs of as many players as possible.

Players don’t have to worry about product quality since AYANEO has maintained stringent standards since the first product, with industry-leading materials selection and processing. From appearance design to texture quality, it is difficult for competitors to match.

As for subsequent maintenance, players don’t have to worry either. We have been continuously optimizing and iterating the AYASpace handheld device management software, ing the entire AYANEO handheld series, including early-series products. As AYASpace is our own management software, we can provide richer adaptations for the entire product series after the main development is completed.

When AYASpace was established, the concept of multi-terminal collaboration was already in place, so we quickly expanded it to the Android and Mini PC, offering different features for different categories and models. Except for objective hardware differences, all AYANEO handheld devices and Mini PCs can enjoy the core functional experience of the AYASpace.

Therefore, whether players have bought a new model or hold an old one, they can rest assured that we will provide full-fledged software maintenance . In addition, we are continuously improving our hardware after-sales service, such as previously offering AIR series s free speaker upgrades and AYANEO 2/GEEK s free three-copper-tube cooling module upgrades. Whatever problems players encounter, they can always provide , and we will do everything possible to ensure player satisfaction.

What made you want to take this step into mini PCs with the Remake line? What do you believe AYANEO can offer to that space?

Zhang: With the development of the gaming industry today, the demand for performance in games is increasing, and players’ demands for game scenes and experiences are also growing. This has raised higher requirements for the computing power and form of gaming devices. While building gaming handhelds, we are also expanding into broader areas to meet players’ diverse gaming experience needs.

In fact, when we entered the handheld market, we had the idea of developing Mini PCs. They have the portability comparable to handhelds, as well as powerful heat dissipation capabilities and performance release. They can effectively fill the gap between PCs or game consoles and handhelds, serving as intermediary devices with versatile applications. They can be used as personal computers, game consoles, software routers, NAS, and more, satisfying the DIY needs of many players.

After gaining sufficient experience and technical , I believe the timing is ripe to enter the Mini PC field. Therefore, we have chosen to officially expand the Mini PC product line based on the REMAKE retro product series.

We will extend the technology and experience accumulated in the Windows gaming handheld domain to Mini PC products. For example, we will break through conventional retro design styles and incorporate personalized elements, allowing s to immerse themselves in a deeper retro cultural experience. We will also provide convenient management services to s on Mini PCs through continuous optimization of our self-developed AYASpace management software. These are the unique value of AYANEO Mini PCs and the essence of the Mini PC 2.0 era.

Of the remake line, the Pocket DMG almost seems like the safest, most tried-and-true inclusion, and yet you’re shrouding it in secrecy. Why the hush-hush approach to that one in particular?

Zhang: Pocket DMG is our first vertically-oriented retro handheld. I have set high standards for it. It should provide an excellent experience consistent with other AYANEO handhelds, such as superior design, screen, and controls compared to competitors. We have put in a lot of effort, and we are continuously working on its optimization. Therefore, we cannot reveal too much information at the moment.

Additionally, we have designed a surprise that most players would not expect for it. I want to announce this surprise at the appropriate time, and I believe it will astonish many people.

In of sheer quantity, this is a big jump for AYANEO’s product line. How are you handling that scale?

Zhang: As you mentioned, we have basically completed the architecture for the Windows gaming handhelds, Android gaming handhelds, and Mini PC product lines. The Windows gaming handhelds cover different screen sizes and forms and are relatively more complete product lines. In the future, we will continue to iterate based on the existing Windows gaming handheld product series, with the iteration speed depending more on market changes and our insight into demands.

Regarding Android gaming handhelds, in addition to the already released Pocket AIR, we are further improving our lineup, such as the flagship product Pocket S with a focus on modern artistic design and the Pocket DMG based on the REMAKE concept. In the future, AYANEO Android gaming handhelds will provide players with more choices through richer configurations and product positioning.

As for Mini PCs, after AM01 and AM02, we are planning new products along with other accessory peripherals. We currently have a wide range of product choices. Our goal is to allow different players to find their desired products from us. This is the initial intention behind our multiple product series.

Regarding product maintenance, since the Windows gaming handhelds, Android gaming handhelds, and Mini PCs are all connected by the AYASpace management software, as I mentioned earlier, there is no need to worry about software maintenance and upgrades. AYASpace will continue to iterate and optimize, providing all AYANEO handheld players with comprehensive maintenance services. Similarly, hardware can also be trusted, as our team possesses strong technical capabilities and after-sales service abilities.

In of research and development, after years of efforts, we have accumulated mature experience and technology, enabling us to quickly deploy cutting-edge technologies to all product lines. For example, shared design language and software features can be applied to Android gaming handhelds, while Windows gaming handhelds and Mini PCs are fundamentally X86 architecture products, sharing many similarities and allowing for cross-platform collaboration and technology sharing.

Overall, the accumulation of these experiences and technologies greatly facilitates our research and development and maintenance efforts. We have more energy to focus on perfecting product details. At the same time, we are continuously improving our after-sales system and enhancing service levels to provide players with an even better all-encoming gaming experience.

Thanks to AYANEO CEO Arthur Zhang and the rest of the AYANEO team for taking the time to talk with us. Stay tuned to Siliconera for more about these devices, starting with hands-on looks at the Slide and AM01.

As for the insides and other functions, they remain the same for both. Each one has a 120Hz, 1080p screen that is seven inches. With the DS model, its touch screen is 3.5 inches. Both use an AMD Ryzen 7 7840U. There’s also a six-axis gyroscope built into it. Both versions have 120, 150, and 180 degree positions for the screen.

This is the second AYANEO device to show up on Indiegogo in the last few months. Back in November 2023, the AYANEO Slide appeared there. That is a Windows PC that resembles a T-Mobile Sidekick or PSP Go.

3DS and DS Style AYANEO FLIP KB and FLIP DS Indiegogo Page Opens

AYANEO announced that it opened the Indiegogo page for its AYANEO FLIP KB and DS Windows handheld PCs. Each one has a flip up screen, with one of the two devices having a second screen like a Nintendo DS or 3DS.

At the moment, the AYANEO FLIP KB and DS page is mainly informative. It shows the two latest Windows handhelds, offering a look at how they will function and details about their specs. It also offers an option to supply an email address to be notified about other updates.

The two handhelds feature similar specs, but different bottom halves servicing different purposes. The FLIP KB model has a full keyboard, in addition to Hall joysticks, controller-style buttons, and an optical finger mouse. The FLIP DS model is the AYANEO system that more greatly resembles a Nintendo DS or 3DS. It features a second touch screen and a controller.

Ayaneo Slide

Ayaneo kicked off yet another crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo for its latest handheld gaming PC. The latest model is the Ayaneo Slide, which comes with a build-in keyboard and features a T-Mobile Sidekick-like design.

The Ayaneo Slide Indiegogo campaign available right now until around January 4, 2024. For a limited time, interested buyers can pledge to a few different models of varying price points. The company expects to ship the product sometime in December 2023.

There are four different versions of the Ayaneo Slide for consumers to check out:

  • Slide 16GB+512GB: $5,487 HKD (Approximately $905 USD)
  • 32GB+512GB: $6,272 HKD (Approximately $1,006 USD)
  • 32GB+2TB: $7,528 HKD (Approximately $1,167 USD)
  • 64GB+2TB: $10,197 HKD (Approximately $1,610 USD)

There's also a teaser trailer showing off the device.

There is an early bird discount price for each of the four configurations. It ranges from 22% off for the base 16GB plus 512GB model to 18% off for the most expensive model, bringing it down to around $1,308 USD. The differences between the versions seem to focus on the storage capacities. However, they all have the same AMD 7840U GPU.

The crux of the Ayaneo Slide is in the name. It has a Nintendo Switch-like appearance similar to other Ayaneo handheld gaming devices, but the screen slides up to reveal an entire QWERTY keyboard underneath. This lets s immediately type on the hardware without needing an external keyboard to help.

It comes in black and white options. Both options have the same features, such as joysticks, D-Pad, triggers, shoulder buttons, and a cooling fan in the back. The actual screen of the device is a 6” 1080p IPS screen, which comes with high brightness options. On the battery side, it comes with a hefty 46.2Wh battery, but weighs around 650 grams.

The Ayaneo Slide is expected to ship in December 2023. The Indiegogo campaign will run until around January 4, 2024.
