As part of the EVO Japan 2025 reveals, Arc System Works and Cygames set a release date for the Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising Galleon DLC. After being first teased back in March 2025, she’s now set to debut on May 28, 2025. There’s also a new trailer that actually shows off gameplay.

Galleon, who you may better recognize as the Earth Dragon Galleon the Gold, has been a part of the main mobile game for quite some time. Here, she’s following previous Season 2 character Sandalphon. The two minute video begins by showing an explosion of rocks as she descends. Then, she attacks by swinging her staff, using assaults from rocks, and summoning a rocky arm from below. Her earth elemental magic seems to be woven into all of her attacks, allowing her to attack nearby or at range.

Here’s the full Galleon Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising gameplay trailer from the event:

Activision Blizzard will add Street Fighter skins to Overwatch 2. Mai Shiranui is being turned into a plush toy by Good Smile Company.

Under Night In-Birth II Sys Celes is coming soon to arcade

Arc System Works has revealed that it will release the arcade version of Under Night In-Birth II Sys:Celes on March 27, 2025. People who prefer to play in arcades will soon be able to find the fighting game in amusement centers across Japan.

The arcade release will run under Sega's ALL.Net P-ras MULTI Version 3 platform. As such, players will be able to use Aime cards to record their save data. The arcade cabinets will also contain ports for external headphones and gamepads.

One of the screenshots for the arcade version revealed that it will have 25 playable characters at launch. Besides the three new debutants on the console releases—Kaguya, Tsurugi, and Kuon—it will also include Uzuki. The latter is the game's first post-launch character added via DLC in July 2024. However, that also means arcade players will not get immediate access to Ogre, the second DLC character who appeared more recently in consoles in February 2025. The season for the console releases also includes Izumi as its third and last extra character coming in August 2025.

Galleon Is a New Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising DLC Character

Yet another new Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising DLC character is on the way, and this time it is the mortal form of the earth dragon Galleon the Gold. She’ll the game in Spring 2025. However, there’s no exact release date for her and the 2.10 patch just yet.

We already had an idea Galleon would be showing up in the game. Back when Season 2 was announced, Cygames and Arc System Works went over the new characters we can expect to see. Sandalphon appeared first. In the original Granblue Fantasy, she uses many earth-based attacks. Some of these include her Terrestrial Pulse charged attack and her Bedrock Rain skill. We could see these, or attacks based on them, in the fighting game.

Here’s the Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising Galleon DLC teaser trailer. It shows the the character when she enters the field. However, none of her moveset appears in the video. Instead, it’s just a hint at how she’ll eventually look and sound.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oaAOcmeEmOg

As for the rest of Season 2 of Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising, we’ll also see three more characters the cast. One is Wilnas, who is set to show up in Summer 2025. In Fall 2025, we’ll see Meg. Finally, that will end in 2026 with Ilsa.

Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising is available for the PS4, PS5, and PC, and Galleon will be the next DLC character in Spring 2025. The original game in the series appeared on the PS4 and PC.

Nissin Chili Tomato instant noodles ad featuring Guilty Gear XX Daigo Umehara commentary by Gama no Abura

Nissin has published a new game-themed Cup Noodle commercial ad. The video features the Chili Tomato Cup Noodle, and it is inspired by Gama no Abura's commentary on the Daigo Umehara match in Guilty Gear XX.

The original source of this video is the commentary on the match between Daigo Umehara and Shishamo during the Tougeki - Super Battle Opera 2003 tournament. The over-the-top delivery by Gama no Abura, who is also known as a fan of Umehara, elevated it to a famous meme in the Japanese gaming community.

Nissin is not the only company that has embraced the meme. Kadokawa also employed Gama no Abura to provide a parody commentary when it published the second volume of the Umehara Fighting Gamers manga in 2015. However, Nissin took a further step by also having Arc System Works produce an original clip that shows the Daigo Umehara-controlled Sol Badguy preparing the Cup Noodle.

The new commercial ad is available to watch right below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkE6WRPwKHE

This ad is based on the original Guilty Gear XX, which first appeared in PlayStation 2 and arcades in 2002. The version readily available on the PC gaming platform Steam is Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R, which was the last version released in arcades in 2012. While the game has been available on Steam since 2015, it received a GGPO rollback netcode update in late 2020.

Guilty Gear Strive Performs Well on the Switch

I’m always amazed at what Arc System Works can accomplish. I mean, it’s one of the best fighting game developers in the world. Of course the team is capable of taking nuances of systems into and ensuring they’re at their best on platforms. Guilty Gear Strive is an impressive game, and fittingly enough it seems to remain so even on a Switch.

The important thing to know going in to Guilty Gear Strive on the Switch is that this is the full game. There are no compromises. All the characters are here. The online works well. If you have a Pro Controller or fight stick, it will even control in the same way, though I was picking at it in handheld mode with the Joy-Cons and having a great time. Rollback netcode is still here and works well. We also got the game at launch with 13 Season 1-3 characters and Queen Dizzy, which is extraordinary and more than makes up for the wait.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECKzNlPGQ7g&ab_channel=arcsystemworks

The first thing that impressed me about Guilty Gear Strive on the Switch is how good it still looked. It’s an incredibly pretty game on other platforms, and it remains so here. Maybe the characters might not look as sharp and crisp, especially if you’re playing in Handheld Mode with its limitations. But it’s still so pretty, with combos that look seamless when pulled off well. I still think Dragon Ball FighterZ is probably the prettiest Arc System Works Switch fighter. Still, this does look amazing. I do feel like there’s a little bit of minor lag between the two. Minor compromises aside, it is impressive.

I’m also a big fan of Guilty Gear Strive on the Switch because it’s so well-suited for the story. It’s a long one, and I found it so much easier to read through here in handheld mode than when watching it on a TV while playing on the PS5. It’s so much easier to enjoy and go through everything that’s happening in it.

It honestly feels like Guilty Gear Strive is a bit of a deal here. I’ve mentioned already that we’re getting 28 characters here. The base game had 15 fighters on the other platforms at launch. So yes, it’s full price at launch four years after the PlayStation and PC versions debuted. I feel like it made up for it not being as striking as those versions, as well as not having as active an online community.

Arc System Works tends to work some sort of magic when it comes to making fighting games that also seem to perform irably on the Switch, and Guilty Gear Strive is no exception. It really feels like a strong port, considering the limitations. While the PS5, Xbox Series X, or PC versions might be the go-to for the title, there’s a lot to be said for getting to play it on the go here. It’s solid, especially considering the first three season es are here in full too.

Guilty Gear Strive is available for the PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Guilty Gear Strive Venom DLC Delayed

We won’t see Venom return to the Guilty Gear series exactly when Arc System Works planned, as the developer announced the Guilty Gear Strive DLC that brings him to the game ended up delayed. He was initially supposed to appear at the beginning of 2025. His new launch window is the end of March 2025.

The general reason for Venom being delayed is “quality control.” Arc System Works said the goal is to ensure the fighter is at his best when he debuts. As such, he’ll launch after ARC WORLD TOUR Finals 2024. That runs between March 21-23, 2025, which means we’ll likely see more about him at the event. Then, he will probably launch sometime between March 24-31, 2025.

Venom has been a series staple since 2000, when he debuted in Guilty Gear X. While he wasn’t in Guilty Gear Strive at launch, he did appear in the two preceding games Guilty Gear Xrd: Sign and Guilty Gear Xrd: Revelator

The first character in Guilty Gear Strive Season 4 was Queen Dizzy. She was the first add-on fighter to appear. While she shows up at an additional cost on some platforms, she’s free on the Switch. We also saw the Team of 3 mode appear in the November 20, 2024 patch.

After the Venom DLC arrives for Guilty Gear Strive, there are two more people on the way. One is Unika from the Guilty Gear Strive: Dual Rulers anime, and the other is crossover character Lucy from the anime Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.

Guilty Gear Strive is available on the Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC, and the Venom DLC will debut in March 2025.

Queen Dizzy will appear as free DLC character for Guilty Gear Strive Switch port

Queen Dizzy will appear as a free DLC character in the Nintendo Switch port of Guilty Gear Strive in February 2025. Arc System Works made the announcement on the fighting game series' official X on the 2024 Christmas Day.

Dizzy has been available on the existing PlayStation, Xbox, and PC releases of Guilty Gear Strive since October 31, 2024. However, players on the platform must purchase either the individual character DLC or the season to gain access. The Switch port, which is slated for release in late January 2025 with 28 characters already included, will eventually have 29 characters without additional purchases after Dizzy becomes available in February 2025.

Queen Dizzy is the first character in the fourth season for Guilty Gear Strive. The same season will cover the additions of Venom in early 2025, Unika in Spring 2025, and Lucy from Cyberpunk: Edgerunners in Summer 2025. Arc System Works has yet to specify how it will handle the remaining Season 4 characters on the Switch port as of this announcement.

Technically speaking, the Switch is not the only platform that gets Queen Dizzy in Guilty Gear Strive for free. Arc System Works had also added her to the arcade release roster via the version 1.16 update on November 26, 2024. In the arcade version, players do not need any additional costs to access Dizzy, besides the credits required to start a game session.

On a side note, Arc System Works made this announcement on Christmas Day, which is also Dizzy's birthday. She is not the only Guilty Gear series character to have a birthday on December 25, as Elphelt Valentine and Axl Low also share the same birthday.

Guilty Gear Strive is readily available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, and arcades. Arc System Works will release the Nintendo Switch port on January 23, 2025. It will also add Queen Dizzy as a free DLC character to the Switch port in February 2025.

Double Dragon DLC gameplay in River City Girls 2

Arc System Works and WayForward have released the Double Dragon DLC pack for River City Girls 2. The earlier reveals in April and August 2024 noted that the DLC would be out in 2024. With the pack released today, the companies have kept their promise of releasing it within the year.

The company is basing the Lee brothers' appearances on their debuts in the inaugural 1987 arcade release. However, the characters will have voiceovers by the more recent voice actors. Billy and Jimmy are voiced in Japanese by Kazuyuki Okitsu and Takehito Koyasu—the same voice actors are also providing lines for the characters in the 2025 game Double Dragon Revive. Meanwhile, Starbomb's Dan Avidan and Arin Hanson are the English voice actors for the respective characters.

After purchasing and installing this DLC pack, players can have the Lee brothers as not only new playable characters but also their inclusion in the game's storyline. The set also adds a new dojo master named Boro. A vocal song performed by Starbomb completes the DLC pack's content lineup.

River City Girls 2 is readily playable worldwide on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The Double Dragon DLC for River City Girls 2 is now available on all the above platforms.

Prime 1 Working on Dizzy and Ramlethal Guilty Gear Figures

Prime 1 Studio announced two new Guilty Gear figures of Ramlethal Valentine and Dizzy being released in collaboration with Arc System Works. There are no details on the price of the figures nor a release date, and pre-orders for the figures will open in the future.

Both figures will be 1/4 scale statues. The Ramlethal figure will be based on her design on Guilty Gear Strive, while the Dizzy figure features the character as she was seen in Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2. The figures were announced as part of the latest Prime 1 Studio “Next Level” showcase featuring multiple figures from a variety of popular media franchises, including the recently revealed Final Fantasy VII Rebirth Masterline figures.

In the showcase video, the Ramlethal and Dizzy figures were shown as unpainted prototypes at around the 1 hour and 30 second mark. Dizzy is accompanied by her signature “defense systems,” Necro and Undine, while Ramlethal’s figure includes her familiars, Venus and Velva, that carry her massive swords.

As a reminder, Dizzy is the latest DLC character to release on Guilty Gear Strive, and she released on October 31, 2024. However, in the new entry in the series, Dizzy has a different design than the one shown in the figures above.

The Prime 1 Studio figures of Ramlethal and Dizzy from Guilty Gear are currently in development. More information about their price and release dates will appear in the future. Guilty Gear Strive is readily available worldwide on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One, PC, and arcades.
