Wright Flyer Studios announced the next major Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space crossover, and it involves the original Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness and the Secret Hideout game. Starting on December 5, 2024, players can take part in the crossover that features multiple characters from the Koei Tecmo and Gust JRPG.

The three playable characters in the crossover are Ryza, Klaudia, and Empel. WFS didn’t note acquisition methods, but in past events there would typically be a character to earn and others available in the gacha. The event storyline will also feature Lent, Lila, and Tao as non-playable participants. To tie in with the Atelier entry, people will be able to gather while exploring maps and use those items in Synthesis to craft items via alchemy. The battle system will also slightly change to include Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness and the Secret Hideout’s Core Items, Fatal Drive, and Order Skills.

What’s interesting is that all of the Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness and the Secret Hideout Japanesevoice actors will return to reprise their roles in Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space.

This is the list of all the performers returning for their roles:

  • Empel Vollmer: Hirofumi Nojima
  • Klaudia Valentz: Hitomi Owada
  • Lent: Takuma Terashima
  • Lila: Haruka Terui
  • Reisalin “Ryza” Stout: Yuri Noguchi
  • Tao: Yui Kondo

Here’s the official trailer:

Crossovers aren’t uncommon in Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space. Characters from other games and series often come up. Most recently, there was a The King of Fighters event in August 2024. That added characters like Kyo Kusanagi, Terry Bogard, Mai Shiranui, and Kula Diamond. In December 2023, an Octopath Traveler crossover added characters from the console and mobile games like Cyrus, Partitio, and Tithi. One of the most notable ones involved a storyline and characters from Persona 5 Royal.

Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space is available for the PC and mobile devices. Atelier Ryza: Ever Darkness and the Secret Hideout is available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC. The Atelier Ryza crossover event starts in Another Eden on December 5, 2024.

Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space is now on PCs, bringing with it all of the charm the game has on mobile devices. While the game remains mostly the same, it offers a new experience for PC players that haven’t yet picked up the mobile version of the game. Another Eden offers an engrossing single-player story backed with competent writing and a beautiful score. However, it does have some drawbacks as a result of being a gacha game.

The visual style of Another Eden is vibrant and beautiful. Character models are round and reminiscent of a a style you might have seen in mobile games like Kingdom Hearts Union X. The illustrations are bursting with character and reflect the various time periods and scenarios players will jump into throughout the story. Aesthetically, it pulls a lot from more classic JRPGs, which falls in line with the story that serves as its inspiration. The music is gorgeous, with Yasunori Mitsuda’s scores immediately recognizable.

The story in Another Eden feels comparable to a JRPG from the mid-2000s. It’s a slow burn that concerns itself with mundane side-quests and requires time to get into the meat of the narrative. Saying it's a spiritual successor to Chronos Cross wouldn’t be entirely incorrect, as you’re immediately jumping through different periods of history and meeting with various characters throughout these different points in time. You play as Adol, a young man trying to make it back to his own time period to find his sister. Each of these periods have their own unique towns and neighboring areas, along with enemies that provide a decent enough variety. What Another Eden offers isn’t an entirely unique experience, but those looking for a single player RPG that evokes nostalgia or a similar sort of air as Chrono Cross will more than likely enjoy what it has to offer. I was mostly indifferent to the story and, while I enjoyed its slow pace, I wasn’t too invested in what was being offered to me either.

One of my biggest gripes with the game though is the cutscenes, as you can't skip them. That may feel counterproductive, considering it is so story-focused, but there were times when I really wish I could have just skipped a scene for a side story. If you plan on playing Another Eden on your PC, make sure you have time dedicated to sitting through it. While the length isn’t the worst thing in the world, it’s a simple quality-of-life feature the game feels like it's outright missing.

Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space PC

The side-quests provide a bit of flavor text in each area. Sometimes you’re gathering parts of errant machinery to help out local children or you’re persuading a child in another period that having a dragon companion may not be the best idea. They’re short little snippets that are mostly inconsequential when it comes to the overall plot, but net the player some neat rewards to help purchase equipment or opportunities to gather materials to sell. This is how obtaining new weapons functions for the most part as well. You collect items found on the map by clicking sparkling points and then sell those items to the local weaponsmith to unlock more weapons.

While the story didn’t exactly hook me, the combat loop surprisingly did. It’s simple, yet effective. You have four primary and two reserve that make up your party. You can unlock skills by obtaining AP through leveling your party up. This also allows for you to unlock ives for individual characters. Usually, I’m not very interested in these kinds of leveling systems, but Another Eden makes leveling up in the early game quick, which had me hooked when trying to build my characters as fast as possible. I wanted to make sure combat would be swift and that I would constantly be prepared for the next story segment or the dangerous monsters littered on the map. It was a nice and mindless grind, though later on grinding does become significantly more time consuming.

Combat is quick, especially if you net yourself a five-star character early in the game. However, the power-creep comes up quickly and if you solely focus on offense you’ll find yourself struggling. Characters with healing skills in Another Eden are invaluable, especially since you can swap characters in and out of combat with ease. I would make sure to have a healer in my reserves to switch in and heal my party during more arduous encounters. It was nice that characters slotted into my reserve line would receive experience as well, which meant less time leveling them up. That being said, the rate at which you can obtain five-stars, which in my opinion will impact how you play the game, is abysmal.

Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space PC

Another Eden is not a generous game. The rate for a five-star or even a four-star character is extremely low, and I suggest saving currency for a ten summon on any banner. While paid banners are available for a guaranteed five-star, it isn’t of your choosing. In my country of residence, a paid ten pull on a paid banner would cost me roughly $31, which isn’t cheap. I feel like this is something important to mention considering that, while Another Eden is a single player PC experience now, it still has a gacha mechanic tacked onto it.

Another Eden is an entirely functional PC port, and I can safely say that I had no issues with the game crashing at any given instance. However, there were a few moments in which the game would slow down and frame rate would dip significantly. This resolved itself after a few seconds, but would crop up occasionally. It wasn’t anything intrusive that prevented me from enjoying the game, but I felt like this is something that could potentially be resolved at a later date. Regarding voice options, the PC version of the game does not offer Japanese audio. So PC players will simply have to stick with English audio options while playin. The English voice acting isn't terrible, but it isn't anything to write home about either.

All-in-all, if you’re looking for another gacha game to burn some time with or mobile game that is more focused on a single player experience, Another Eden might just be what you’re looking for. It’s easy to pick up and put down, for the most part, and provides an interesting enough story to hold itself as a single player experience.

Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space is immediately available for Android devices, iOS devices, and the PC through the Steam storefront.

Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space PC The side-quests provide a bit of flavor text in each area. Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space PC Another Eden is not a generous game.

Another Eden

The free-to-play mobile RPG from the creators of Chrono Trigger is going beyond its mobile origins. Developer WFS, Inc. announced Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space will be making the leap to PCs in Spring 2021. To that end, the game also has a Steam store page, allowing interested players to add the game to their wishlists for rewards. This "pre-registration" campaign will hand out bonuses to both PC and mobile players depending on how many people wishlist the game.

https://twitter.com/AnotherEdenRPG/status/1364743967485517824

Another Eden originally launched in 2017. It is billed as a spiritual successor to Chrono Trigger. Its main story comes courtesy of Chrono Trigger writer Masato Kato, and its music features work by Chrono Trigger composer Yasunori Mitsuda and Luminous Arc 2 composer Shunsuke Tsuchiya. The scenario has players traveling back and forth through different time periods to "reclaim their lost future." Like many of its peers, Another Eden is free-to-play and uses a gacha-based monetization system for players to add new characters to their rosters.

However, the focus is heavily on the game's single-player story, rather than the potentially costly collection of new characters. Even its events, like the 2019 crossover with Persona 5, are permanently available, rather than limited-time-only affairs.

Another Eden PC will have some platform-specific features, such as for higher resolutions and keyboard-and-mouse-based inputs. Otherwise, it will be the same game. This means that it will also allow current mobile players to transfer their s back and forth between the platforms, retaining their progress and even paid-for currency. One wrinkle is that the game won't allow them to play on more than one platform at a time, meaning an transfer must be done every time players opt to make the switch. Another wrinkle is that Another Eden PC will have a more limited language selection. Though the game will include for English, Japanese, Chinese, and Korean language in both subtitles and interface, only English voice acting will be available.

Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space will release on PCs via Steam in Spring 2021. Interested players can also apply for early access through a Google Form at the official site. The game is immediately available on Android and iOS, and a Nintendo Switch version is planned.

WFS’ Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space has been rather consistently growing since its 2019 global launch, and now the game is in a place where its getting crossovers with Persona 5 Royal and the Tales of series. To help better understand how these sorts of collaborations happen and the details that go into them, Siliconera caught up with Takeru Sakurada, the scenario writer for its episodes and different character quests, to find the challenges that came from the Another Eden Persona 5 Royalevents.

Jenni Lada, Siliconera: When did you first start planning Another Eden's Persona 5 Royal event? Did you know right away that the extent of the crossover and the additional parts?

Takeru Sakurada, WFS: For the first Persona 5 Royal crossover, I've heard the project began in early 2019 as a top secret project that most of the team wasn't aware of. I was informed about the project around spring and I the rest of the team was informed much later. In Japan, the first producer of Another Eden had publicly said that there wouldn't be any crossovers in the game, so we were very cautious with crossovers, perhaps more than our global players could imagine.

For me personally as well, when I had first heard of the project, I was against the idea of crossovers, no matter what the crossover was. But I understood that working with a long-running franchise would be an opportunity to raise Another Eden’s visibility to new audiences. Since the deal was done and sealed, I took great pains in working with the team to merge the two titles without damaging each title's world building, and going beyond simply riding on the characters' fame to break preconceived notions of mobile game crossovers.

Because of the reason I mentioned above, it was impossible to predict our community's response, so we hadn't even thought of the possibility of a second crossover. Thankfully, we received positive responses and were able to push out a second crossover, but I hope to always to be humble whenever we work on future crossover projects.

How did you choose which Persona 5 Royal characters would be the best fit to become playable party in Another Eden?

Sakurada: The main character, Joker, was always going to be a playable character, hands down. And because of Another Eden's link to cats, we had decided from an early stage that Morgana, who is kind of a cat (?), would be playable.

I digress, but I think many fans might have wondered why we hadn't included Violet in the crossover even though it was that of Persona 5 Royal. When the crossover launched, Violet's character hadn't yet been revealed publicly, so she wasn't able to make the cut. But since Persona 5 Royal was released around the same time as the Another Eden crossover, we released it as a Persona 5 Royal crossover.

By the time the second crossover happened, Violet had been announced, so we were able to release her as a playable character. With her addition, I feel the crossover is truly that of Persona 5 Royal, so I feel a bit relieved.

What kind of influence has the COVID-19 pandemic had on Another Eden development and events?

Sakurada: I think things were the most hectic around April. We were in the final stages of planning a large offline event--we had to make the decision to cancel the event, which meant we had to shelf everything we had prepared for it. It definitely had an impact on the team's motivation. There were various things we had to deal with in relation, such as cancelling appearances for the voice actors who were supposed to appear in the event.

In of work environment, everyone switched to remote work at quite an early stage, regardless of job type. I spoke to former colleagues who work in different companies about their situations, and I think our company's transition to remote work was relatively smooth. For me personally though, I'm most productive when I'm talking and moving my hands, so I miss the whiteboard at the office.

The game planners were quick to adapt since they can work anywhere, but it seemed like the art team had a hard time since they needed to set up a desktop environment at home. We currently work in the office once a week, but it can be troublesome for artists to switch environments.

Still, I think this industry has been hit softer compared to others. I'm trying my best to draw a line between my daily life and professional life, and adjust to my new lifestyle.

another eden persona 5 2

When making any new Another Eden character, what does the creation process look like? Does the character’s art and design come first? Do you know their personality? Or do you have an idea of a certain sort of equipment and role you need?

Sakurada: There are two possible processes for this.

  1. The scenario team presents an idea for a character, and the art and battle teams work on the illustration and mechanics.
  2. The art team presents a rough illustration, and the scenario and battle teams work on the quest story and mechanics.

In the early stages of the game, I feel the second process was more prevalent, but recently the development process has been more stable and the first process is more common.

As for my personal philosophy, I feel that in game building, level design should be at the root of development for a stable process, so my ideal would be to shift to a third process, where the battle team presents the level design and the art and scenario teams work on the illustration and quest story.

Of course, we can't change existing content that s have already paid for, and it can take courage to change a process that's so familiar to the development team. There are always risks and gains to be had to make drastic changes at this stage, so it's a lesson for me to for future projects.

Another Eden will be celebrating its fourth birthday in Japan and second birthday globally in 2021. Do you have any special plans?

Sakurada: In of the big picture, I think it's necessary to close off Part 2 in a way that's satisfying.

As I mentioned before, because of COVID-19, it's difficult for us to hold special events. I also feel there are things we can do that are unique to this situation, so I hope you can look forward to future announcements.

another eden persona 5 3

Sakurada also offered the following message for people who play Another Eden worldwide.

First of all, I'm truly grateful that you've chosen to play Another Eden, out of all the games that are out there.

Sakurada: I feel the game industry in Japan is at a crossroads. There were strengths that were once unique to Japan that have been replicated elsewhere and are no longer unique. Our industry needs to maintain a sense of crisis and have a strong will to create new values unique to changing times - or else, the rest of the world will leave us behind.

Another Eden never has time-limited events, so we can't keep s retained by reviving old events like other mobile games. We're destined to always keep creating new content, pedaling the bike constantly, and sometimes we feel overwhelmed with short-term projects. I think it's important to and to also think of the long-term future, so that Another Eden will be a title that receives attention 10 and 20 years down the road.

I hope our s us on the journey.

Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space is available for mobile devices, and the Persona 5 Royalevents are permanently available to play in-game.

The Another Eden Persona 5 event is here. There’s a lot of good news associated with it too. It being available is a big one. But also important is that Bound Wills and the Hollow Puppeteers: Promises, Vows, and Rings isn’t a limited time affair and is a permanent part of the game. No one can miss it. But also, both the Another Eden Violet and Skull Persona crossover characters can be earned by playing, rather than paying.

In both cases, going through Another Eden’s new crossover quests gets you the characters. If you head into Another Dungeon: Mementos, you can earn Skull. He has a mission associated with him. Meanwhile, the Another Eden Violet character appears as you go through Bound Wills and the Hollow Puppeteers: Promises, Vows, and Rings. As for Caroline and Justine, they’re a boss fight. Also, while the event is here for good, completing it before December 17, 2020 will get you 1,000 Chronos Stones.

The update that adds both of these characters also brings with it extra new characters and features. Another Eden’s Victor Ally Encounter banner is available. The game is getting electric too, as Thunder is now available as an element. There are some Chronos Stone bonuses too, for people who might want to try and earn in-game currency for gacha pulls. The new event will give people 50 Chronos Stones each day until December 4, 2020. (Normally, you only get 20.) Everyone who is new to the game and starts by January 15, 2021 will also get 1,000 Chronos Stones as something of a nest egg.

The Another Eden Persona 5 Royal event is drawing nearer, and that means a new trailer introducing everything people will go through. In particular, this latest video builds upon the 20-second teaser announcing the event and revealing both Kasumi “Violet” Yoshizawa and Ryuji “Skull” Sakamoto. Most notably, the twins Caroline and Justine will also be there for “Promises, Vows and Rings.”

The trailer begins by teasing Violet’s arrival to aid Aldo and Joker in a fight. We then get to see her special moves in battle alongside the two of them, Skull, and Morgana. (Joker and Morgana appeared as part of the previous Persona 5 event.) We then learn that there’s an incident involving a bride and a “trapped heart,” presumably with the Phantom Thieves helping with some troubled wedding.

The interesting part comes at 55 second mark. We get to see the party fight against Caroline and Justine. The twins even have their “Don’t be so cocky” banner. After that, we get to see Aldo, Joker, Skull and Violet team up for an All Out attack led by Kasumi.

Here's the new Another Eden Persona 5 Royal trailer.

Another Eden: The Cat Beyond Time and Space is available on both Android and Apple iOS devices worldwide. A Nintendo Switch version is supposedly in development, but hasn’t been discussed in quite some time. Persona 5 Royal is available on the PlayStation 4 worldwide. The Another Eden Persona 5 Royal crossover will be held in November 2020.
