During the October 2024 Xbox Partner Preview, Remedy announced that the Alan Wake 2 Lake House DLC release date falls on October 22, 2024. The new expansion will see players controlling FBC agent Kiran Estevez as she explores the seemingly abandoned Lake House outpost located near Bright Falls.

The new trailer for the Lake House expansion in Alan Wake 2 showed the new environment players will get to traverse, as well as new creature crawling out of a painted wall that immediately begins to fight Kiran. Additionally, the trailer showed agent Estevez using a brand-new weapon similar to a grenade launcher that she seemed to be able to charge.

The Night Springs add-on for Alan Wake 2 came out on June 8, 2024 and it offers three different scenarios featuring Alan Wake fangirl Rose, sheriff Tim Breaker, as well as Control main protagonist Jesse Faden in creative reinterpretations of previous events in the Alan Wake and Control shared world.

Alan Wake 2 is readily available for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC via Epic Games Store, and the Lake House DLC expansion will release on October 22, 2024.

A teaser for the Alan Wake 2 Lake House DLC was revealed during Sony's September 2024 State of Play presentation. The DLC is set for release in October 2024.

The trailer is cryptic, as a female voice discusses the Lake House, a mysterious location that contains dark secrets. There is a supernatural force swirling around at the end of a corridor full of corpses, although it's unclear what this is. From the mention of "the Bureau" and a logo seen inside the building, it's clear that the facility has connections to the FBC, previously seen in Control. This connection is similar to how Control's AWE DLC directly teased Alan Wake 2 in its ending.

The Lake House is the second story expansion DLC for Alan Wake 2. The first was the Night Springs DLC, featuring an anthology of stories featuring familiar characters from the "Remedyverse." It was released shortly after its announcement at Summer Game Fest 2024.

Alan Wake 2 is out now for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. The Lake House DLC is set to release in October 2024.

Remedy Entertainment announced that the first Alan Wake 2 DLC expansion Night Springs will launch on all platforms on June 8, 2024. Additionally, Remedy confirmed that the game will get a physical edition, as well as a physical collector’s edition and they will be available in Fall 2024.

The new Night Springs DLC will include three chapters that lets people play as fan favorite character Rose, Sheriff Tim Breaker, as well as Control protagonist Jesse Faden. The trailer showed each chapter having a different style, as well as featured unique mechanics like Jesse’s iconic Service Weapon.

As a reminder, back in December 11, 2023 Alan Wake 2 received a free updated that included a New Game Plus mode. Aside from letting people replay the game with all their weapons and upgrades, the New Game Plus mode featured minor changes to the story.

The release date for the Alan Wake 2 New Game Plus mode was announced at The Game Awards 2023. It will be available on December 11, 2023.

The New Game Plus release date announcement came during the acceptance speech for Alan Wake 2 winning Best Game Direction. After Sam Lake gave his speech, co-director of the game, Kyle Rowley, approached the mic and announced the date.

New Game Plus had previously been announced for Alan Wake 2. Remedy had confirmed the new addition previously, stating that it will allows players to retain weapons and upgrades, along with new video and manuscript content and a Nightmare difficulty. Two expansions are also on the way in future.

Alan Wake 2 is out now for PS5, PC and Xbox Series X/S. New Game Plus will be available on December 11, 2023.

For many game enthusiasts, the Halloween holiday has taken on a new meaning in their adult years. Instead of going door-to-door to trick-or-treat, it's now the perfect time to snuggle up under a blanket to play their favorite horror-themed video games. From Resident Evil to Dead by Daylight, the gaming industry now has decades of creepy titles that keep players up at night. Here are our favorite horror games that we like to play during Halloween.

I wouldn't say it is every Halloween, but I'm far more likely to play a Fatal Frame game this time of year. Especially during daylight hours, when I'm trying to the time and want to do something vaguely spooky.

But when it comes to what I'll play later in the evening, odds are it's a mobile game. While I'm waiting for trick-or-treaters, I'll often fire up something fast like Fire Emblem Heroes or Dissidia Final Fantasy Opera Omnia to tie up some loose ends between doling out treats. -- Jenni

While a cliche answer, I find myself always going back to Resident Evil 4. I mean, it's a classic for a reason, right? While not the most terrifying game ever made, its creepy rural village setting always sets the mood perfectly for the Halloween season. With the incredible Resident Evil 4 Remake releasing in 2023, the classic game has also never looked or played better. I just wish Capcom would also consider re-making the Parasite Eve games because those would definitely be my Halloween picks if they existed.

Finally, I wanted to give a shout out to the recently released Alan Wake 2. The long-awaited sequel from Remedy Games is already gearing up to be a modern-day classic. It's also surprisingly terrifying and packed with some seriously chilling scenes that are nightmare-fuel. I recommend the mind-bending game to anyone who is a fan of Inception, Twin Peaks, or the first season of HBO's True Detective -- Brent

It’s not a horror game, but I’ll play the first Kingdom Hearts game so I can play through Halloween Town from Nightmare Before Christmas. I love the ghost Heartless designs and having Jack Skellington in my party. Is it spooky? No. Is it Halloween to me? Yes. -- Arielle

I don’t think I’ve ever made the conscious decision to play a spooky game around Halloween, but I know that this year I will be replaying Signalis. Not only because the developers recently announced the release of their promised inventory update on PC but because Signalis is a captivating and haunting tale of love, isolation, and broken promises that I have been meaning to revisit since I first played it when it was released a year ago. -- Daniel

The horror game I often go back to at this time of year is Dead by Daylight. I’m a scaredy cat so being able to run from iconic horror villains like Michael Myers alongside other players helps the atmosphere. In addition, while it isn’t fully Halloween-themed, I started a new tradition last year with Dragon Ball: The Breakers, which has its tense and scary moments and (in my opinion) has the best Dead by Daylight-style gameplay. I’ve been playing a round or two of that several nights a week in October. -- Cody

I have to echo Jenni's choice here, mainly because Fatal Frame is my favorite horror series, so I'll usually replay something in the series around this time. Beyond that, I've also played the Little Nightmares games around this time of year. They're full of creepy imagery and atmosphere, of course, with a stop-motion feel to them, which adds to the uncanny nature of the series. But each game is also a nice short experience that's easy to work through in a single dark October evening. -- Leigh

Remedy revealed details about two DLC expansions for Alan Wake 2. This insight appeared in a FAQ on the official Alan Wake website, although no release date has been confirmed for either one.

The first of the two Alan Wake 2 add-ons will be called Night Springs. It will see players taking control of multiple characters from the game’s world, each with their own supernatural story to tell. These stories will be presented as episodes of Night Springs, the fictional in-universe TV show inspired by The Twilight Zone.

The second expansion will be called The Lake House. This will focus on a mysterious facility on the banks of Cauldron Lake, which belongs to “an independent government organization” conducting research in the area. This will feature two adventures with Saga Anderson and Alan Wake, just like the main game.

These expansions will not be the only post-launch content for Alan Wake 2. A New Game Plus mode is set to be added, allowing players to keep all weapons and upgrades. Remedy will also be adding a Nightmare difficulty level and an alternate narrative feature new video content.

Alan Wake 2 is out now for PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and the DLC story expansions do not currently have release dates.

Remedy plans to add New Game+ options to Alan Wake 2. The options are expected to be added in an update sometime after the game's launch on October 27, 2023, though an exact date was not specified.

The update would give options to restart the game after completion, such as retaining weapons and upgrades earned during your first playthrough. The Nightmare difficulty level will presumably be a harder mode intended for players who crave a challenge, while additional collectables and video content will give story-focused players new things to hunt for.

It appears Remedy has significant plans to Alan Wake 2 beyond release, including free DLC packs as confirmed by one of the game's directors at EGX.

Remedy Entertainment recently shared new trailer footage for Alan Wake 2 at an Xbox Partner Preview event, as well as a recap of the first game's plot. Fortnite also hosted its own recap, as well adding Alan Wake skins to the game's online store.

Alan Wake 2 is set to launch on October 27, 2023 for PC, Xbox Series X, and PS5, with New Game+ options set to be added in a post-launch update. There is currently no exact date for this addition.

A new trailer for Alan Wake 2 appeared at the Xbox Partner Preview presentation ahead of the game’s October 27, 2023 launch. Additionally, five minutes of new gameplay footage debuted.

The new trailer is roughly two minutes long, and it showcases FBI agent Saga Anderson in her investigation into the mystery of the ritualistic murders happening in the town of Bright Falls, Washington, as well as Alan Wake’s escape from the Dark Place.

Meanwhile, the new gameplay footage is approximately 5 minutes long. It focuses on Saga, and showcases the new survival horror elements of the sequel, with Saga exploring inside a dark house, and confronting grotesque looking enemies.

Check out the new Alan Wake 2 trailer below. It starts at 22:49, while the new Saga gameplay segment appears after the trailer, at 24:38.

The new gameplay section also showed Saga using a mechanic similar to the emergency items that appear in the Resident Evil remakes. The gameplay footage concludes with Saga solving a puzzle involving one of the iconic Alan Wake songs.

Remedy recently shared a short story recap video of the events of the original Alan Wake, as well as the detailed PC requirements for Alan Wake 2.

Alan Wake 2 will come out on October 27, 2023 for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Remedy Entertainment released a new recap video for the original Alan Wake ahead of the release of Alan Wake 2. The nearly 3-minute-long video goes over the events of the original game, retelling Alan’s fight against the Dark Presence.

People can watch the Alan Wake recap video ahead of the release of Alan Wake 2 below. However, the video contains spoilers for the ending of the original game:

The original Alan Wake was initially released for the Xbox 360 in May 2010. A PC port appeared in February 2012. 2019’s Control established a shared universe between both games and further solidified the connection with its AWE Expansion DLC, released on August 27, 2020.

As a reminder, a retelling of the events of the original Alan Wake is also available in Fortnite via the Alan Wake: Flashback event. We also wrote our own recap of the Alan Wake story here. Alan himself is even available as a Fortnite skin with his sequel appearance for players who pre-order Alan Wake 2 from the Epic Games Store.

Alan Wake has made an appearance in Fortnite with a special island retelling events from the game. Alan Wake: Flashback is a reimagining built using the Unreal Editor. It allows Fortnite players to witness locations and story elements from Remedy’s survival horror game. It will offer players a recap of the events of the game ahead of the release of Alan Wake 2 on October 27, 2023.

Built in collaboration with Remedy, Spiral House, and Zen Creative, Alan Wake: Flashback allows players to explore Bright Falls. The island’s reveal trailer showed locations including the cabin on Cauldron Lake, the Oh Deer Diner and the sawmill. Ghostly images of events from the first Alan Wake will occasionally flash up around the player, and scenery will be moved around by dark forces.

Alan Wake: Flashback can be accessed through Discover or by using the code 3426-5561-3374.

This is not the only Alan Wake content coming to Fortnite, however. Alan himself will be available as an outfit in the Item Shop from October 26, 2023 as part of the Fortnitemares season. Other cosmetic items will also be available, including Alan’s Messenger Bag Back Bling. Both Alan and the Messenger Bag will also be available to players who pre-order Alan Wake 2 from the Epic Store.

Remedy announced that the first track off of Alan Wake 2: Chapter Songs soundtrack is now available. The full seven-track album won’t appear until October 27, 2023. However, the Fried Music and Rakel song “Follow You into the Dark” is available now.  

First, here’s the full version of “Follow You into the Dark” from YouTube. People can also find it on Apple Music, Amazon Music, iTunes, Pandora, Spotify, and Tidal. 

There’s also a “Making of” video from Remedy and Fried Music showing what led to the creation of Alan Wake 2 Chapter Songs.

While the album isn't available yet, we do already know the full track listing for this Alan Wake 2 soundtrack. The following songs will all appear on it.

Alan Wake 2 got a release date at the PlayStation Showcase. In a story-focused trailer, we got to see Alan Wake still trapped in Cauldron Lake, along with a cast of new characters. It is set to release on October 17, 2023.

Two FBI agents are investigating Alan Wake on the trail of the events from the first game. One of these agents, Agent Anderson, appears to be a playable character, as she walks through a house before being attacked by one of the game's new enemies. These new enemies appear to be taking Alan Wake 2 in a new folk horror direction, as theyre all wearing deer masks. Also, Remedy writer Sam Lake makes an appearance as Anderson's partner.

This is the first time we've gotten to see Alan Wake 2 since its reveal teaser at the Game Awards in 2021.

The Alan Wake 2 release date is October 17, 2023. It will be released for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
