Adult Swim announced a release date for the Uzumaki anime adaptation. The announcement came alongside the release of a short teaser trailer, providing a glimpse at some of the horrors viewers will witness when the anime arrives on September 28, 2024. Consumers will be able to watch the anime adaptation the same day of release on Adult Swim, and it will be available the following day, September 29, 2024 on the Max streaming service.

As mentioned previously, Adult Swim released a short teaser through YouTube. It contains roughly one minute of footage, and includes various scenes from the anime. As a warning to viewers, the teaser contains body horror, blood, gore, and disturbing imagery.

Originally slated to air in 2021, the Uzumaki anime has received several delays. Subsequent updates did appear in 2023 and 2024, which included more information about the series, such as voice actor announcements. Uzumaki will be a total of four episodes long, and will feature Japanese and English voice acting.

The release date for the Uzumaki anime adaptation will release on September 28, 2024 on Adult Swim. It will appear on Max the following day on September 29, 2024.

At SDCC 2024, Viz Media announced that an anime adaptation of the Rooster Fighter manga is in development. Sanzigen is the studio behind it, Viz Media will handle distribution outside Japan, and it will air on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim.

The Rooster Fighter manga first started running back in 2020, and Viz Media picked up for a worldwide release in August 2022. The series is set in an alternate version of Japan where humans sometimes turn into murderous demons. Keiji is a rooster out for revenge, trying find a specific demon that killed his sister Lisa. He travels alongside a chick named Piyoko and saves others from similar fates on his journey. 

A first teaser trailer for the Rooster Fighter anime appeared at SDCC 2024. It only showed Kenji and highlighted some attacks against demons.

The first key visual also appeared, and it features Kenji, Piyoko, and a demon.

The latest Rooster Fighter manga chapters can be read via Viz Media. The last ones to appear on July 1, 2024 were chapters 33-38, and more are due to appear on July 29, 2024. The last physical volume to appear was number six, and it showed up outside Japan on June 18, 2024.

The Rooster Fighter anime is in development and will eventually air on Adult Swim.

At the 2023 San Diego Comic Con, a new trailer for the Uzumaki anime featuring leads Kirie Goshima and Shuichi Saito appeared. It showed off the distinctive black and white design and animation direction for the show. It also offered a chance to hear their Japanese voice actors.

Here's the trailer showing Uzumaki's Kirie and Shuichi walking through the streets of Kurozu-cho. He suggests the two of them leave town, citing the recent widespread appearances of spirals and discussing what's happening to his father. Kirie doesn’t seem to take it all seriously. It ends with the town’s siren going off and Shuichi expressing his discomfort with it all.

However, there's still no exact release window for the Uzumaki anime. It was supposed to appear in 2021. It was delayed to 2022 after that. We may get to eventually see it in 2023. The one thing we do know is that Junji Ito will make a cameo appearace in it.

There haven't been many updates on the Uzumaki anime adaptation since its last delay, but the latest involves creator Junji Ito himself. It turns out his involvement with the project will include voice acting. There is even a video of him in the studio recording. [Thanks, Anime News Network!]

This Uzumaki anime video begins with people on staff explaining how much people love Junji Ito’s work. Then, he heads into the recording booth. We see him start. However, we don’t get to hear him perform. The portion was beeped out and wan’t translated. Instead, it displayed a message that read, “Disclaimer: We can’t say which character he’s voicing yet.” However, some of the teasers after that involve him saying, “I usually have poor enunciation, so doing ‘this role’ was perfect.” Comments from other people suggest his voice acting part will be brief.

While the Uzumaki anime adaptation won’t for a while, there will be a new item related to the story that will appear before it. Viz Media announced Uzumaki Coloring Book. On March 15, 2022, people can pay $14.99 for an 80 page book with art from the manga to color in. There's also a new localized Junji Ito manga. Deserter: Junji Ito Collection released in English in December 2021.

The Uzumaki anime will appear in October 2022. It will show up on Adult Swim.

Adult Swim and Crunchyroll will debut a new animated series adapting the story of classic Dreamcast adventure Shenmue. The first look at the show since its initial announcement in September 2020 comes from the "Shenmue: Continuing the Legacy" virtual at the 2021 New York Comic Con. The revealed new key art and a trailer for Shenmue The Animation, showing off key scenes from the game in anime form.

The Shenmue the Animation trailer mostly consists of scenes from the first game in the trilogy. It includes scenes like protagonist Ryo Hazuki's first encounter with Lan Di, the death of Ryo's father, and fights at the Yokosuka docks. The trailer also shows Ryo's battles against Chai and Mad Angels gang boss Terry Ryan.

Chikara Sakurai will direct Shenmue the Animation (their previous work includes Lost Song and Naruto Shippuden), and series creator Yu Suzuki is on board as an executive producer. Telecom Animation Film is animating the series. Telecom has produced a variety of shows, including Futakoi, Don't Toy With Me, Miss Nagatoro, and Lupin III. Sola Entertainment will take on a management role, while streaming services Crunchyroll and Cartoon Network's Adult Swim division are co-producing. When the series premieres in 2022, they will handle international distribution and localization.

Shenmue the Animation will premiere in 2022 on Crunchyroll and Adult Swim outside Japan. The original Dreamcast games were rereleased for PC, Xbox One, and PS4 in 2018. The final entry, Shenmue III, released for PC and PS4 in 2019, with a Complete Edition rerelease in 2020.

Blade Runner: Black Lotus, a new anime series based on the classic sci-fi film Blade Runner, will begin airing in Fall 2021. Though announced in 2018 following the release of the Blade Runner 2049 live-action film, little was known about the project until its reveal at the 2021 Comic Con @ Home online event. The series is a co-production between Adult Swim and Crunchyroll, and a trailer accompanied the announcement. Crunchyroll also showed off the show's Japanese dub via its Twitter .

The Blade Runner: Black Lotus trailer establishes the show as taking place in Los Angeles of 2032. This is ten years after the first Blade Runner animated work, the short film Blade Runner: Black Out 2022. A young woman, Elle (voiced by Jessica Henwick in English and Arisa Shida in Japanese) awakes in L.A., with no memories but plenty of deadly skills. She's a replicant, a bioengineered human created as a source of slave labor. Over the course of the show she'll investigate her origins and the mystery behind them, and clash with the powerful forces at work behind the scenes.

Blade Runner: Black Lotus will be produced by Alcon Television Group and animated by Japan-based CG animation studio Sola Digital Arts. Sola also produced the films Starship Troopers: Invasion and Traitor of Mars, and the Ultraman and Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 series for Netflix alongside Production I.G. The series will be directed by Kenji Kamiyama and Shinji Aramaki, who worked on Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045, Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex, and Ultraman. Shinichiro Watanabe, who directed Cowboy Bebop, Space Dandy, and Blade Runner: Black Out 2022, will serve as in a Creative Producer role.

Blade Runner: Black Lotus will debut in Fall 2021 on Adult Swim and Crunchyroll.

The animated adaptation of Junji Ito's Uzumaki has been delayed until October 2022. News broke of the delay through the official Adult Swim YouTube Channel. A message from Hiroshi Nagahama, the Director of the Uzumaki anime, explained the situation surrounding the delay. Additionally, the video includes a short preview of what the adaptation will have in store for viewers. [Thanks, Collider!]

In the video, Director Hiroshi Nagahama explains that COVID-19 has had a huge impact on the anime industry in Japan. Therefore, the current situation surrounding COVID-19 has had an impact on the production of Uzumaki. Nagahama states that due to this, they had to "restructure their plan from the start." He does mention that he feels like the production is finally coming together. Additionally, he apologizes to the audience for the delay and asks for their patience for just a bit longer.

The clip itself is relatively short, but provides a look into how Production I.G. will adapt this classic horror manga. Additionally, Nagahama mentions that Production I.G. is using twice as much staff on Uzumaki in comparison to other properties they have worked on. He also mentions that the team is currently working their hardest as to not disappoint fans of Junji Ito.

The Uzumaki anime will now air on Adult Swim in October 2022 due to a delay. The Uzumaki was originally slated for a 2021 release.

Get ready to turn the boring old normal world into the Hyper World, because Toonami, Adult Swim's anime-centric programming block, will air SSSS.Gridman starting January 2021. The announcement was made during Adult Swim's livestream event on November 15, 2020. [Thanks, ANN!]

SSSS.Gridman is an anime series produced by Studio Trigger, which animated Kill la Kill, BNA: Brand New Animal, and Little Witch Academia, and Tsuburaya Productions. It's based on Gridman the Hyper Agent (a.k.a. Denkou Choujin Gridman), a 1993 Japanese live-action "tokusatsu" series. It was later adapted in the United States as Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad. Unlike Power Rangers or Kamen Rider, Gridman was more a "giant hero" show in the vein of Ultraman. In it, three geeky kids find out their custom video game superhero has been commandeered by Gridman, a police officer from the digital "Hyper World". Gridman merges with the kids to protect the human world from the kaiju summoned by the villain, Kahn Digifer.

SSSS.Gridman incorporated elements both from the original Gridman series and Superhuman Samurai Syber-Squad. The series follows Yuta, an amnesiac high-schooler who meets the Hyper Agent Gridman inside a junky old PC. From there, he merges with Gridman to defeat the kaiju attacking his city, while unraveling the mystery behind his memory loss. The series first aired in 2018 on Crunchyroll in North America and Europe, with a dubbed version available via Funimation. The show would go on to inspire stage plays, manga spinoffs and adaptations, and eventually a sequel: SSSS.Dynazenon.

Jack is back! If you're confused as to where it lands in the timeline, Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time splits off from the Season 5 episode, where Ashi and Jack flee through time to deal with Aku once and for all. Instead of following the events of that finale, Aku meddles and traps Jack somewhere between time. Separated from the woman he loves, Samurai Jack is forced to relive past battles in this game and fight his way back to her.

Even though he's reclaimed his magical sword, Jack's going to need more tools at his disposal. These familiar faces have weaknesses we can exploit. There are several ways to acquire melee weapons. I literally tore the limbs off a giant beetle and ended up with a sweet scythe that sliced like a hot knife through butter. Jack found a morning star at one point, perfect for crushing bones. I've stolen several from enemies and received some as gifts from the Scotsman, his daughters, and Rothchild.

For those hard to reach combatants, you'll want to get your hands on some ranged weapons. My personal favorites are the shuriken. Those ninja stars really fly from my fingers. But sometimes a bow and arrow or a handgun might be more appropriate for the task at hand. For instance, the bow is ideal for those hard to reach emperor medallions, since you can manually target with it.

It's important to note that your weapons can and will take damage. Whenever you spot Da Samurai in your vicinity, make sure to pay him a visit. You'll want to check the status of your weapons and see if they need repair. I lost two bows to poor weapon maintenance. I pushed them too far and they broke, vanishing from my inventory and leaving me with a bundle of arrows.

Da Samurai also offers special weapons training. Spending gold on this service increases the stats for the selected weapon class and unlocks new moves. So far I've focused on improving my sword and spear attacks.

Another way to boost your mojo is to invest skill and bushido points wisely. The most devastating blows lie within the skill tree. Maxing out all three trees might be a bit of a grind, requiring some back tracking and completing challenges. You know you're going to push Jack to his limit. Have every available tool in my belt for that final Aku battle? Don't mind if I do.

Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time is the best fanservice game I have played in a while. Getting to visit Jack's journey in a playable format was more enjoyable than I expected, and there's a secret ending hardcore fans need in their lives. An update on the Uzumaki anime series from Studio Drive, Production I.G. USA, and Adult Swim confirmed the new launch window for the Toonami show will be 2021. This was accompanied by a new interview with director Hiroshi Nagahama for the black-and-white miniseries based on the Junji Ito manga. [Thanks, Anime News Network!]

Uzumaki will be four episodes long and is based on the three volume manga series of the same name. (That’s available in English through Viz Media.) During the Adult Swim Con, the existing teaser was shared again with the new 2021 release window. In case you missed it, it is very brief, but does show Kirie Goshima and show the effects of the spiral curse plaguing the town.

Here’s the Nagahama Uzumaki interview. He talked about adapting the manga, the production process, working on a horror anime, and how Studio Drive is endeavoring to stay “faithful” to the story.

Interestingly enough, there were actually video games inspired by Uzumaki. However, both of them appeared on the Wonderswan in 2000 and never appeared outside of Japan. (Ito also confirmed during SDCC 2020 that he isn’t currently working on any games, but has talked to Hideo Kojima.)

The Uzumaki anime will air during Adult Swim’s Toonami block in 2021. It will be four episodes long.

The Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time release date has been revealed. We always knew it would be coming to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC in the middle of 2020. Now, we’ve learned that August 21, 2020 is what qualifies as the “middle” for now. That’s when it will be available for $39.99. [Thanks, IGN!]

To go along with the announcement, there’s a new trailer showing off Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time’s gameplay. It takes a 3D, beat’em up approach to the normally 2D show. It also shows how well Jack is at using different sorts of weapons throughout the adventure.

As a reminder, the game is picking up where the series left off. It taps into its lore. It also brings back plenty of returning cast . Phil LaMarr is once again Jack, and he spoke about returning to reprise the character in another video. People will also get to see Greg Baldwin as Aku again and Tara Strong showing up to play Ashi.

Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time will come to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. While people wait, they could watch episodes from the series via Cartoon Network and HBO Max.

Imitation is inevitable, but the first Trauma Center clone is coming from an unlikely place. I thought I would see Veterinary Center: Save the Nintendogs before Adult Swim atomized Trauma Center into a flash game. Since this is for PCs motion control is thrown out the window, but the operations in Amateur Suregon are very similar to what you would find in Atlus’ Trauma Center series. The twist is you’re not a surgeon. Alan Probe is a pizza delivery boy who dreams of being a surgeon. He uses a pizza cutter to open patients up, a stapler to suture wounds and an “itchy sketch” to scan for metallic objects. Humor aside, Amateur Surgeon shares so much in common with Trauma Center I wonder if Atlus is flattered or calling their lawyers.

Three years ago Banpresto released a Shin-Chan game ripe with movie parodies. Crayon Shin-Chan: Arashi wo Yobu Cinema Land no Daibouken is a basic platformer where you take Shin through an action bastard themed first stage and jump on enemies. Banpresto is digging this up and shoveling it into Crayon Shin-Chan: Arashi wo Yobu Cinema Land Kachinko Gachinko Daikatsugeki, which is set to come out in March 2008. The revised version adds in three new stages and a tiny bit of touch screen control. Considering it is being sold as a full price DS game, the game is light on add-on content.

Hmm… I wonder if Banpresto is re-releasing this because they are planning to bring it to North America. Shin-Chan is resonably popular on adult swim and a US release would explain why so little is being added into the DS version.
