One Piece Film: Red Made Over 16.2 Billion Yen So Far

As of October 3, 2022, One Piece Film: Red is well on its way to breaking all-time box office records. It has made over 16.2 billion yen ($116.24 million), and is still consistently in the top ranking at Japanese box offices. For reference, the movie came out on August 6, 2022. In commemoration of the film’s North American release, Toei Animation has promoted One Piece Film: Red in New York.

Coinciding with New York Comic Con 2022, Luffy and the rest of the Straw Hat Pirates made a grand splash in the Big Apple. On October 6, 2022, NYCC had an exclusive premiere screening at AMC Lincoln Square 13, with 450 attendants filling it to capacity. Aside from a screening, there was also a for One Piece Film: Red at Comic Con. Around 4,500 fans were present. ists included key staff from Toei Animation and of the English voice cast.

Those who could not attend Comic Con but were in New York also had the chance to witness an hour-long ad takeover campaign in Times Square. On October 8, 2022, multiple digital billboards in the famous New York Times Square displayed videos of Luffy, the Straw Hat Pirates, and Uta. The ads started with a countdown before showing several key moments from the anime.

One Piece Film: Red will appear in theaters in North America from November 4, 2022.
