The company has gradually published chapters for the NieR: Undecided Option web novel in the last two weeks. The first batch appeared on April 19, 2025, with the second chapter themed after NieR:Automata. The second wave published on NieR Re[in]carnation. The final chapter that’s just published has a focus on the siblings Nier and Yonah from NieR Replicant.

As a reminder, NieR Replicant initially appeared exclusively in Japan for PlayStation 3 on April 22, 2010. Square Enix only localized the Japanese Xbox 360 version of NieR Gestalt, which featured an older protagonist, as NieR for both PS3 and Xbox 360 in the West throughout late April 2010. The company later released an upgraded version of NieR Replicant with the extra subtitle ver.1.22474487139 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC worldwide in April 2021.

The NieR: [U]ndecided Option special novel, made for the series’ 15th anniversary in 2025, is readily available to read in the Japanese language.
