How to unlock all eight Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma bachelor options:

Cuilang:

You gotta pay to play with Cuilang, as he’s part of the Seasons of Love DLC bundle. However, even if you do buy that, you need to unlock him first. He doesn’t appear until the Autumn Village, which is the third one you unlock. After you revive Kurama and complete his storyline, you’ll be able to spend time with him, build up a relationship, fight alongside him, and romance him.

Fubuki:

As a major god for the Winter Village region, he’s locked behind completing that town’s questline. By restoring him, you open him up as a new person to hang out with, a new ally for your party, and a possible romance option. Once the boss is beaten for that part and you’ve been named chief of the town, he’ll be available permanently.

Ikaruga:

You’ll meet Ikaruga once you’re searching sky islands for Astral Shrines. He’ll show up toward the latter half of this questline. This is a situation in which defeat means friendship. After you beat him up in a boss fight and complete the portal on that island, you’ll find him hanging around places like the Winter Village. Talk to him and he can become your ally.

Kai:

Kai takes a while! You first meet him during the Autumn Village storyline, where he’s a pivotal part of getting Kurama to wake the hell up. However, even after it’s finished, you can’t start traveling alongside him and romancing him. You first need to get to the second meeting of the gods that officially confirms he’s the god of the Underworld. After powering him up with your dance, he’ll become an ally. You can then talk to him at any time. However, note that once you hit a point in that Underworld questline, you need to beat the boss Ura to gain access to him again.

Kurama:

As the god of autumn, you don’t unlock him as a romance option in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma until you completely clear the Autumn Village storyline. Once you go through the maze, beat that boss, get enough people in town for the mikoshi battle, then complete that boss fight, he’ll finally appear. You can then talk to, fight alongside, and romance him.

Mauro:

Mauro is one of the first folks you’ll meet in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma, as well as the first healer you’ll get, so you don’t need to worry about unlocking him as a bachelor in the game. He’s right there! (Though personally, I’m not a fan of his voice acting in English or Japanese, so I recommend using Ulalaka as your healer once she’s available if you aren’t interested in romancing him!)

Murasame:

Murasame is, like Hina, Iroha, and Mauro, basically available pretty early on. After you go through the Spring Village tutorial quests and head to complete the quest to awaken Ulalaka, he’ll be available to add to a party and head out to restore the goddess. By the time she’s saved, you could already have his first bonding event even unlocked.

Subaru:

He’s the male avatar option who shows up as one of the bachelors in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. But before you can win him over, you need to actually beat the game. Once you do, you can start to fight alongside him and marry him.

How to unlock all eight Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma bachelorette romance options:

Clarice:

First, you need to get to the Winter Village. You won’t meet Clarice until you start to get through the storyline to restore the god for the region, Fubuki. However, she is like Kai and doesn’t unlock at this point. Rather, after you get to the segment in which Kanata appears and is unlocked, she’ll unlock as a romance option in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma.

Hina:

Basically, you don’t need to unlock Hina. She’s available the second you move into the Spring Village. Talk to her a few times and she can your party and be befriended. Because of how early she’s available, it’s very possible that you’ll have her first bond event unlocked by the time Ulalaka is freed.

Iroha:

Like Hina, Iroha is practically immediately available as a bachelorette when you start playing Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma. She’s one of the first folks you meet in the Spring Village, and since her little sister is the one who’ll teach you about befriending people, she’ll likely be one of the first folks you test out chatting with. Plus, she’s one of the earliest tank type characters you can add to your party, which is helpful. Like Hina, Mauro, and Murasame, you can probably be ready to go through her first bond event by the time Ulalaka is restored.

Kaguya:

The female avatar option you didn’t choose, she only unlocks as a romance option in Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma after you beat the main campaign due to the way the story goes.

Kanata:

After you complete the Underworld segment, you’ll finally get to reach the Heavenly Realm. This is the region tied to Kanata, the last goddess, so you naturally need to go through that questline to unlock here.

Matsuri:

Since she’s the summer god… you guessed it. You need to complete the Summer Village storyline to unlock her. She’ll be restored after you recover her sword and take it to a blacksmith for repairs. Once you do, she’ll show up, immediately fight alongside you, then be available from there on out.

Pilika:

Like Cuilang, Pilika is only a romance option if you buy the Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma Seasons of Love DLC bundle. She does appear in the story without it, and you do need to reach that point to actually date her. Basically, get to the Winter Village and restore Fubuki after buying that add-on to win her over.

Ulalaka:

Ulalaka is a goddess for the Spring Village, and you need to save her to unlock her. This means she’s available fairly early on, but you still need to invest some time to earn this bachelorette.

Rune Factory: Guardians of Azuma is available for the Switch, Switch 2, and PC.
