Khara announced that Evangelion 3.0+1.0: Thrice Upon a Time has reached a new viewer milestone six weeks after release. More than 5 million viewers in Japan have watched the movie. The exact numbers given after 42 days are 5,088,007 viewers, with a total revenue of 7,799,314,050 yen (~$72,144,825). [Thanks, Game Watch!]
The latest Evangelion movie started with a revenue of over 7.4 billion yen and 4.8 million tickets. The franchise’s official Japanese Twitter also revealed that it reached the 7.5 billion yen mark on the 37th day on April 13, 2021.
As a comparison, Evangelion 3.0: You Can (Not) Redo grossed 5.3 billion yen with 3.82 million tickets sold in total. Evangelion 3.0+1.0 sured both amounts on March 29, 2021, three weeks after the initial launch.
Evangelion 3.0+1.0, the final movie in the Rebuild of Evangelion tetralogy, released in Japanese theaters on March 8, 2021. Various kinds of merchandise inspired by the franchise’s characters and EVA units have shown up, ranging from Anna Sui to release even more merchandise items.
