Dragon Quest 1 and 2 HD-2D Remake Release Date Set

On Dragon Quest Day 2025, Square Enix announced the release date for Dragon Quest 1 and 2 HD-2D Remake. It will debut on October 30, 2025. This will be 39 years after the first game debuted on the Famicom and MSX systems and 36 years after the JRPG’s first US debut on the NES. The base game is $59.99, and there will also be a $149.99 Collector’s Edition sold as well. They will be sold alone or in a bundle with the third game for $99.99, and playing the first two with save data from the third gets you a Dog Suit costume for the first and Cat Suit outfit for the second.

Square Enix also confirmed platforms for the return of the two JRPG games alongside the Dragon Quest 1 and 2 HD-2D Remake release date. We already knew the game would be on the Switch, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, just like Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake. However, the Switch 2 ended up being added as well.

As a reminder, these HD-2D Remake games redo JRPG games in the same style as the Octopath Traveler series. For these two, there will also be new additions. Some of these will involve additional story elements, as well as the aforementioned new costumes tied to save data.

As for the Collector’s Edition, we know everything in it. That starts with a physical copy of the game. You also get 12 acrylic blocks standees, with six of them being human characters, one being a dog, and four being major enemies from the two games. The Outstanding Outfit Kit DLC with an Arriviste’s Vest, Mad Cap, Ring of Strength, and Slime Earrings is part of the bundle, as are two wallpapers for a PC or tablet. The pre-order bonus seeds that influence stats and Elevating Stats are also included. The Square Enix Online Store is already taking orders for it.
